Chapter 873 Publicly Announced
"Hey everyone, thanks for coming tonight. I know you're all busy, but I have some big news to share!" Chase announced.
Everyone turned to him, eyes wide with curiosity, eager to hear what he had to say.
"As you all know, years ago, my son Raymond and daughter Nicole, whom I had with my ex-wife, went missing. We searched high and low for them, but came up empty. Well, I'm thrilled to tell you that they're back, safe and sound. I couldn't wait to share this amazing news with you all. Sorry for the last-minute invite and the lack of formalities. I hope you can forgive me for that. Thanks for being here, it means a lot!"
The guests were stunned, not expecting that after so many years, the two would return. They started chatting among themselves, surprised and intrigued.
Chase then called Nicole and Raymond to join him on stage.
"This is my son Raymond," He said, giving Raymond's shoulder a friendly pat. Then, patting Nicole's shoulder, he introduced her, "And this is my daughter Nicole."
"After all these years, they've grown into a fine young man and a beautiful woman."
"Who would've thought the family would reunite after all this time?"
"I was worried Hayden, Chase, and Alina's son, wouldn't be able to step up. But now, seeing Raymond, it's clear he's not spoiled. The Russel family has hope..."
"Yeah, and Nicole looks so poised, way better than that pretentious Katherine."
"I wonder which family took them in and raised them to be so graceful and good-looking."
Alina and Katherine overheard the whispers around them, their hearts filled with rage.
If it weren't for the need to save those thirty million dollars and keep their dignity, they would never have agreed to Chase hosting this dinner and revealing Nicole and Raymond's existence.
Suddenly, a voice came through the speakers. "You gotta tell me, why did you want her dead? I'm risking my life for you; at least let me die knowing why. Why did you insist on running her over?"
The guests were bewildered. Wasn't this supposed to be a celebration? Why was this audio playing?
Then, Alina's voice came through the speakers, "Fine, I'll tell you. Only if Olivia dies can I marry Chase. Just follow my instructions and run her over. I've already transferred the one million dollar deposit to your account. The remaining nine million will be transferred after the job is done."
The guests began to realize who the female voice belonged to and turned to look at Alina at the first table.
Alina initially thought the man's voice was a movie line, but when she heard her own voice, she realized something was terribly wrong.
"Tomorrow, Olivia is going to the amusement park with Sharon's family. Find an opportunity. Don't say I didn't warn you," Alina's voice continued, "Make sure to run her over, the more tragic, the better!"
The male driver sounded scared, "What if the cops trace it back to me and involve my family?"
"Your family knows nothing, and you'll be dead, leaving no evidence. Don't worry, I've arranged everything. Everyone will think it's an accident."
The driver still seemed unsure, "If I'm dead, how do I know you'll transfer the remaining nine million dollars to my account?"
"You've risked your life for me. Do you think I'd be so heartless as to cheat you out of the nine million dollars? Your life is worth that much. I promise you'll get what I agreed to. Just follow my instructions..."
The driver seemed hesitant.
"Your terminal illness has drained your family. Do you want them to live in debt after you die? By eliminating my biggest threat, I am truly grateful. I swear you'll get the remaining nine million dollars." Alina added.
The driver was finally convinced and agreed to the deal.
Chase looked at Alina at the first table in disbelief. He never imagined that the kind and gentle woman he first met could have such a terrifying side.
When Olivia was hit by the truck and ended up in the ICU, he hadn't even met Alina yet.
So their meeting, getting to know each other, and staying together were all part of Alina's plan?
Chase staggered back.
"It was you, you hired someone to kill Olivia." Sharon stood up in shock, pointing a trembling finger at Alina, "Olivia didn't even know you. She had no grudge against you, and yet you..."
"No, it wasn't me. This audio is fabricated to frame me." Alina said, suddenly realizing something, looking at Raymond and Nicole on stage in disbelief, "It was you. You deliberately had Chase host this dinner to frame me."
At that moment, the giant screen lit up, showing evidence of Alina's entire process of hiring a hitman and later denying it.
The evidence was irrefutable. Chase, filled with sorrow and anger, rushed off the stage and slapped Alina hard.
Alina was stunned, unable to believe that the man who once loved and cherished her would hit her in front of so many people.
"I'll kill you..." Sharon, overwhelmed with grief, grabbed an empty bowl and plate from the table and smashed them over Alina's head.
"What are you doing?" Katherine and Hayden were terrified. Katherine tried to intervene, while Hayden hid, afraid of getting caught in the chaos.
"You vicious woman, I'll kill you..." Sharon grabbed Alina's hair, pulling out chunks of her carefully styled hair. "If it weren't for you, our car wouldn't have been hit, Olivia wouldn't be disabled, and Chase wouldn't have been so distraught that he lost sight of the kids. It's all because of you..."
Zephyr was also furious. If it weren't for this, Clara wouldn't have died!
Olivia's family rushed forward, punching and kicking Alina, while Alina's family tried to pull them away, causing chaos.
At that moment, the giant screen lit up again.
It revealed Alina's dissatisfaction with being harassed by the driver's family for years and her secret plan to hire a hitman.
