Chapter 688 Take Her Home
Abella was kinda taken aback too.
Caleb noticed Gregory's face turning beet red, veins popping out on his neck, and he was about to pass out.
Caleb yelled, "Stop!"
He needed to find out where his wife was.
How could she still be alive?
Back then, they had so many people searching, but no one found a trace of her.
The subordinate let go, and Gregory gasped for air. After a bit, he said, "Back then, Mrs. Harris fell off a cliff. Below was the sea. You had people searching the sea for over a month but couldn't find her body. Actually, she didn't fall into the sea; she landed on a tree, got seriously hurt, and passed out. I took her back to Alexis."
Hearing this, Caleb jumped up and ordered someone to open the basement door.
He stormed in, kicked Gregory to the ground, grabbed him by the collar, and snarled, "You knew how much she meant to me, yet you hid it from me and even sent her away without my say-so. You must have a death wish!"
Gregory knew he was in deep trouble. Seeing Caleb so down for so long back then, he felt bad too, but he had to follow his boss' orders.
Whatever his boss said, he had to do.
Gregory trembled a bit and said, "At first, Alexis just wanted to use Mrs. Harris to threaten you and make you miserable. But later, he fell for her and wouldn't let her go."
"What did you say?" Caleb, losing it, clenched his fist, ready to punch him.
"But Alexis has great respect for Mrs. Harris. He hasn't hurt her at all. I swear," Gregory hurriedly said.
"If anything happens to her, I'll come back and tear you apart!" Caleb stormed out of the basement in a rage. Abella glanced at Gregory and quickly followed Caleb.
It was the first time she'd seen Caleb this mad.
"Uncle Caleb, are you going to Alexis?" Abella asked.
Caleb, walking ahead, said, "Abella, take care of the hospital. Tonight, I'm bringing your aunt home. Watch over my father and don't let those people succeed."
He couldn't trust any of his men now, except for Abella.
Only Abella could keep his father safe.
Maybe he hadn't expected his wife to still be alive. Caleb's eyes were filled with determination and fury.
He was dead set on bringing his wife back!
He was furious that Alexis dared to pull this despite having no beef with him. He wouldn't let it slide!
Abella knew Caleb would seek revenge for Gregory hiding the fact that her aunt was still alive.
It seemed tonight would be wild in Verdania.
From now on, there'd probably be no more Alexis and his gang in the world.
To keep Alexis' people from targeting her grandpa, Abella planned to stay at the hospital tonight to protect him.
The bodyguards at the hospital didn't have her skills.
She held an umbrella and had just walked outside the manor when she saw Jacques still sitting in the car, not having left.
Jacques was kinda surprised to see her and quickly got out of the car to ask, "Ms. Medici, what happened? Mr. Harris left in a hurry, and now you're coming out too."
He had a feeling something big had happened, but he wasn't sure what.
Abella looked up at him and asked, "Why haven't you gone back yet?"
"I..." Jacques glanced at her and then looked away. "I was hurt and wanted to rest in the car for a bit."
"My aunt's still alive," Abella didn't hold back, locking eyes with him and saying it straight, "She's with Alexis. Uncle Caleb's gone to get her. To keep their people from offing my grandpa at the hospital, I gotta go there and watch over him."
"Mrs. Harris is still alive? For real?" Jacques was floored. After all that effort back then, failing to find Caleb's wife, and now she was with Alexis?
Tonight, it wasn't just Alexis who'd be in deep trouble, but all his goons too.
Daring to hide something this huge from Caleb, they must have a death wish.
"Ms. Medici, I'll take you to the hospital," Jacques said, snapping back to reality and looking at Abella.
"No need, Uncle Caleb told you to go back and rest."
"More people, more muscle. Tonight's different. Mr. David Harris' life is on the line. Let me go with you, and I'll also send more guys to make sure you and Mr. David Harris are safe," Jacques said, opening the car door for Abella and earnestly inviting her to get in.
Seeing he was set on it, Abella got into the car.
Jacques was a bit pleased and quickly got behind the wheel.
The VIP floor of the hospital was so quiet you could hear the nurse at the front desk flipping through medical records.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, a group of bodyguards got on high alert, drawing their knives and staring fiercely at the elevator doors.
Seeing it was Abella and Jacques, they quickly put away their knives and bowed. "Ms. Medici, Jacques, why are you here?"
"I've asked Johnny and Buzz to bring their teams over too. Be on high alert tonight. After tonight, you can rest easy," Jacques said.
Hearing Jacques' words, the subordinates were a bit puzzled. "Jacques, has something happened?"
Jacques shot him a look. "Don't ask what you shouldn't."
"Yes."
Abella walked towards the ward, and immediately a doctor and nurse on duty followed. "Ms. Medici, you're here."
"How's my grandpa today?"
"Everything's fine, just as you expected. All indicators are within the normal range. Ms. Medici, your medical skills are truly remarkable. Despite the drug injected into Mr. David Harris, you managed to save him."
"I was just there at the right time."
If it hadn't been for the timely rescue, her grandpa would've been a goner if they had been a minute late.
"Oh, right, here's Mr. David Harris' report for today. Please take a look," the doctor on duty handed the report to Abella.
"You can go now," Abella took the report and pushed open the ward door. David was sleeping peacefully on the bed.
The four bodyguards in the ward were about to salute when Abella softly said, "Don't wake my grandpa."
"Yes," the four bodyguards responded quietly and stood still in the four corners like statues.
Abella tucked her grandpa in and then sat by the bed, quietly reading the report.
Jacques came in after giving instructions and saw Abella's serious profile. In the dim light, every move Abella made captivated him.
"Jacques." It wasn't until a bodyguard softly greeted him that he snapped out of it, realizing he had lost his composure.
Luckily, Abella had been reading the report and hadn't looked up.
Jacques' face turned a bit red. He looked at his subordinates. "You guys go guard outside. Ms. Medici and I are enough here."
"Yes," the four bodyguards retreated.
