Chapter 1034 Something Happened
"Mrs. Medici, actually, I..."
"I know, Blake's usually swamped and doesn't have much time for you. If you ever feel bored, you can always call me. I'll take you out for shopping and lunch."
Clare couldn't bear to deceive her and was about to explain when Kimberly pulled out her phone. "Let me add you on WhatsApp. Even though I have a bunch of kids, none of them are really around. I just reconnected with Abella, but she's busier than her brothers. If you ever want to go out for lunch or shopping, I'd be delighted."
Clare took out her phone and opened her contact card. "Mrs. Medici, I don't mind going out with you, but about my relationship with Blake..."
"I know, you two are just dating. Whether it leads to marriage depends on how he behaves. Blake may seem carefree, but he's very considerate. You can ask Abella if you don't believe me."
"Mrs. Medici, I know Blake is a good person..."
"You're just like Abella, so capable at such a young age, already managing a company while still a freshman."
Talking about Abella made Kimberly's eyes well up. "Abella has been so understanding, enduring Lola's bullying without complaint."
"Mrs. Medici..." Clare wanted to comfort her, knowing Lola never got the better of Abella.
But Kimberly wiped her tears and smiled. "I'm getting carried away. You came to see Abella, right? I won't take up more of your time. Let me help you with this bracelet."
"No, Mrs. Medici, I can't accept it. Blake and I aren't what you think. We were just..."
Before she could finish, Kimberly's phone rang.
"I know, you two just had a little tiff. It's okay, I won't take it to heart. It was his fault anyway. You have every right to be mad. Just wear it for now." Kimberly quickly slipped the bracelet onto Clare's left wrist and gestured for her to go find Abella, then answered her call and started chatting with a friend.
Clare was left speechless.
After a while, Clare found Abella and showed her the bracelet. They went to the garden, with Blake following them.
"Abella, what do I do? Mrs. Medici really misunderstood. I can't get this bracelet off." Clare tried several times, but the bracelet seemed custom-made for her, fitting perfectly.
Abella smiled slightly. "It looks good on you."
"Good? This is a daughter-in-law bracelet." Clare couldn't remove it and looked at Blake. "Once Mrs. Medici finishes her call, you need to explain to her about this bracelet..."
Before she could finish, Beckett came out with some guests.
The guests noticed her bracelet and complimented it. "What a beautiful bracelet."
Beckett beamed. "It's for the daughter-in-law..."
"I thought so. Ms. Fischer wasn't wearing a bracelet when she arrived, and now she has such a lovely one. Congratulations, it looks like good news is on the way!"
"The bracelet makes Ms. Fischer's skin look even better, and she looks more elegant."
"Blake, I'm really looking forward to your wedding. Don't forget to send me an invite."
"I'm gonna give you a big gift for your wedding."
Clare forced a smile, realizing the misunderstanding was getting worse.
"Clare just took over the company and has a ton of work to handle. My schedule's packed too, so we might keep you waiting," Blake said as he escorted the guests with Beckett. "But if there's good news, we'll let you know."
"Blake, don't keep Ms. Fischer waiting too long."
"Yeah, make sure to give her a grand wedding."
"You two look perfect together, like a married couple."
Clare watched their retreating figures, forcing a smile.
"Abella, what do I do about this bracelet?" Clare turned to Abella.
"Do you have feelings for Blake?" Abella suddenly asked.
"What?" Clare looked at Abella, shocked. "You don't think we make a good couple too, do you?"
"You're both single. If you don't dislike each other, you could start as friends and see where it goes."
"You want me to be Blake's girlfriend?" Clare was stunned. "Since taking over the company, I barely have time to sleep, let alone date."
"You've always wanted to find someone. Your parents keep pushing you, and my parents keep pushing Blake."
"But we can't just settle like this." Clare glanced in Blake's direction. He was handsome and had a good personality, but she had never considered dating him. Although, using him as a shield wasn't a bad idea.
This way, her parents wouldn't push her, and relatives and friends wouldn't set her up.
She could have some peace!
"Keep the bracelet for now. I'll talk to Blake later. By the way, why did you come to see me today?"
Abella's question reminded Clare of her purpose. "You asked me to find some herbs, and I happened to be nearby, so I brought them."
Clare took a small box from her pocket. "By the way, I got a call on the way here. Did you see the trending news? It's blown up, and I can't suppress it."
"What happened?"
"At the return banquet a few days ago, you held a raffle and gave away cars worth half a million dollars to 99 lucky winners. Some of them got into accidents, and reports show the cars had issues. Now people are questioning the quality of the cars, thinking the Medici family is just putting on a show and that the cars aren't worth half a million dollars, accusing the Medici family of using substandard cars."
Abella's lips curled into a smile. "Looks like the people behind this couldn't sit still and started causing trouble."
"I figured it was them. They have a lot of influence, and I can't suppress the news. Also, someone leaked a video of you and Abigail getting into a fight while having a late-night snack years ago."
"Now people are questioning if the real daughter of the Medici family is as outstanding and well-behaved as the important figures at the return banquet claimed."
