Chapter 25
"Sir Bourbon will wake up tomorrow. No tonic is allowed for him in the next thirty days. Don't make the same mistakes, okay?" Abella instructed Phillipe.
"Okay." Phillipe nodded and then asked her after looking out, "Dinner? My treat."
"No need. I should go home now." Abella took her bag. Checking her phone, she found that Kimberly had called her twice.
Abella quickly dialed back. "Mom, sorry. I was busy just now."
Phillipe watched as she made the call with her soft and sweet voice.
"Well, I'm going back now. Okay, bye."
Seeing her hang up, Phillipe suggested softly, "I'll drive you home."
"Then take me to Honey Park. My car is parked in the underground garage there."
Hearing this, Phillipe felt puzzled, wondering, 'Honey Park? It's still under construction and not open to the public yet. She parked her car there? Then why did she show up at the church?'
To Phillipe, Abella was like a mystery that he couldn't figure out.
"I've got to return this first." Abella took a set of needles from Graham's office earlier. He was on duty today and was still in his office.
When walking out, Abella walked past Vilma's ward. Then, she stopped and saw Vilma sleeping peacefully while receiving an IV drip with closed eyes.
Suddenly, a voice interrupted her thoughts. "Abella, what are you doing here?"
She turned around only to see Skylar and Jeff standing nearby looking surprised. They got a call from the hospital saying that their VIP room for Vilma would expire soon, so they came after dinner. Unexpectedly, they met Abella here!
Skylar regained consciousness first, asking with a cold tone, "Aren't you supposed to be with your biological parents? Why are you here? Are you trying to plead with Vilma again to stay in New York? Or stay with us? Don't even dream about it!"
Jeff didn't expect to meet Abella here either. "Abella, what happened? Aren't you back to your home?"
"I doubt that she didn't leave at all!" Skylar gazed at her with utter disgust. "She must have heard about the poor condition on the way home and fled to beg Vilma."
"Get rid of her quickly!" Skylar tugged at Jeff's sleeve, signaling him to act fast.
Approaching her, Jeff asked gently, "Abella, let's have a talk. How much do you want?"
Looking at the vicious faces of her former family, Abella curled her lips slightly into a sneer.
With a hint of sarcasm, she wondered, 'They wanna buy me off?'
Seeing that Abella didn't speak, Jeff took out a bank card and said, "There's 15 thousand dollars. Take it. The password is 123456."
Seeing Jeff being so generous, Skylar couldn't help feeling heartbroken. "Why give her so much money?"
But Jeff signaled with his eyes, trying to let Skylar shut up. He thought if he didn't do this, Abella wouldn't be willing to leave.
He still remembered that Abella once stole Isla's ruby necklace, which was worth 15 thousand. And now, with 15 thousand in this card, Jeff was sure that she would give up.
Abella looked at the card in Jeff's hand, silent.
"What? You want more?" Skylar snorted discontentedly. "You better take it as you still can. Otherwise, you'll get nothing in the end!"
"Abella, just take it. You don't have to visit your grandma anymore. I told you to focus on your own family, remember?"
While speaking, Jeff wanted to stuff the card in Abella's hand, but she avoided him quietly.
"Abella! What do you want exactly? Fooling Vilma again after she wakes up? Don't even dream about it!" Skylar didn't expect Abella to be so stubborn. "I'm warning you, you have nothing to do with her anymore! Get out before I really get pissed."
Abella's lips curled up slightly, and she said word by word, "150 million, and I might consider giving up."
"You! In your dreams!" Skylar got furious, feeling almost out of breath. "It's a robbery!"
"So what?" Abella was pleased by Skylar's reaction.
"You... You..." Skylar covered her chest. She really didn't expect Abella to be so shameless. "I won't give you even a penny!"
She snatched back the card and roared, "If you don't scram now, I'll have someone kick you out!"
"Oh, go ahead then." Abella remained indifferent.
"You! Damn it! What kind of VIP service is this? Who let her in?" Skylar turned, ready to find the staff.
"Abella." Suddenly, a man's voice caught their attention. Skylar looked over and saw a man at the end of the corridor looking in their direction, calling out Abella's name. Although there was a distance, Skylar could tell that he was tall and had a strong presence.
Upon hearing the voice, Abella turned and saw Phillipe waiting for her. Immediately, she walked over, leaving Skylar and Jeff behind.
"Who's he?" Skylar looked suspiciously towards the end of the corridor. "Her father? No. It can't be. He couldn't have sounded so young."
"Should be her brother." Jeff guessed. "She has five unmarried brothers, right? Heard that her grandma also got sick? Could she also be staying in this hospital?"
"Can they afford it?" Skylar watched them disappear down the hallway. She couldn't help but discuss with Jeff, "We gotta send Mom to another hospital quickly before that rotten girl causes us more trouble!"
Jeff had the same thought too. But NYU Medical Center was the best choice for Vilma in New York.
"That rotten girl knows that Mom's fond of her. Though we can handle her, I'm afraid Mom will soften up again and let her come back!" Skylar continued to convince Jeff.
Skylar still remembered that Vilma fainted due to heart failure three months ago when she found out Abella wasn't actually her biological granddaughter.
Later on, after Vilma woke up, she sternly stated that no one could drive Abella out under her watch! And she would never forgive whoever wanted Abella to leave.
Vilma only had Abella in her heart, and even Isla couldn't earn her fondness.
