Chapter 262 Brazenness

Elsa hurriedly ran up to Margaret, hugged her arm, and buried her face in her mother's chest. In a soft and aggrieved voice, she called out, "Mom!"

Elsa's appearance made it seem as if she had suffered a great injustice!

Seeing her like this, Lola felt angry. If someone didn't know the truth, they would think they had bullied Elsa!

"What's wrong?" Margaret lowered her head and noticed a makeup-created palm print on her daughter's right cheek. If one didn't look closely, it would be difficult to spot that it was fake. Suspecting that her daughter had some mischievous plan in mind, Margaret played along, raising her voice and asking with concern, "What happened to your face?"

Everyone's attention instantly focused on them.

"Mom, please don't ask!" Elsa kept her head down and her voice sounded slightly resentful, as if she didn't want anyone to know about this.

"What happened?" Margaret persisted when Elsa remained silent and looked over at Lola.

Turning to Lola gently, Margaret asked, "Lola, what happened after Elsa went to find you just now? Do you know what's going on?"

"I..." Lola couldn't say a word. How would she know what mischievous plan Elsa had been brewing?

"Mom, it's not Lola's fault. Don't ask her!" Elsa intervened immediately. "I did my makeup myself, just for fun."

"Who puts a handprint on their face for fun?" Margaret said, feeling sorry for Elsa as she reached out to touch her.

"Ouch... don't touch!" Elsa winced, tears welling up in her eyes.

Now everyone looked at Lola incredulously. Did Lola hit her?

Margaret turned to Lola and said with a sense of righteousness, "Lola, this issue tonight it's all because Elsa was careless and dirtied your dress. I apologize on her behalf. Let me take you to the mall later to pick out a new dress. Otherwise, I won't have peace of mind."

"Auntie, please don't say that. I really didn't hit her!" Lola felt wronged. It seemed like her aunt thought she hit Elsa because she had dirtied her dress, but that wasn't what happened at all!

"I didn't say you hit her. You just confessed voluntarily!" Margaret smiled playfully, pretending to scold Lola. "Don't worry, tonight's incident was indeed Elsa's fault."

"No, Auntie, I really didn't hit her! I have no idea how the handprint ended up on her face!" Lola looked at the Medici couple and continued, "Dad, Mom, I didn't hit her!"

Mrs. Medici was also confused. Elsa had gone to find Lola in the restroom earlier out of concern, but when she returned, there was a red handprint on her face. It hurt when Margaret touched it, so it didn't seem like she was pretending.

"Lola, what really happened here?" Mrs. Medici couldn't falsely accuse her own child, but she also couldn't protect her if she did something wrong.

"When Elsa came to find me in the restroom, I..." Lola suddenly remembered that she had splashed water at Elsa, and her makeup had smudged a little.

Could it be that because her makeup was smudged, Elsa really put a handprint on herself while fixing her makeup? Just to shift the blame onto her? What a crafty girl!

"And then?" Mrs. Medici thought something scandalous had happened as Lola didn't continue.

"No matter what Lola did to me, as long as she calms down, that's all that matters! Aunt, please don't pursue this anymore! It will hurt our friendship! Tonight's dinner is about Abella and with Phillipe present... Let's leave it at that!" Without waiting for anyone else to respond, Elsa continued, "I'm fine, really! Mom, please stop asking! It's such a nice dinner, and the atmosphere has changed!"

After saying that, she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

Margaret couldn't help but see through the hidden intentions behind her daughter's gesture, so she asked, "Then why is your hair wet too?"

"It's because of the hot weather, I sweated! Anyway, it's not Lola's fault. Let's eat now."

"Upon hearing this, Elsa pleaded in a soft voice once again. Lola was furious. Elsa was indirectly implying that the wet hair and palm print on her face were related to her. She pretended to care about the bigger picture, but it was truly disgusting!

Unable to contain her anger, Lola shouted out, "Mom, I didn't hit her, she definitely put on that palm print herself! Maria can testify! I never laid a finger on her!"

On one side, Lola adamantly denied it, while on the other side, Elsa acted sensibly to cover up her wrongdoing. The favor of the crowd leaned towards Elsa! Although Mrs. Medici didn't believe Lola could do such a thing, the evidence was there. She couldn't simply state that Elsa was acting without any basis, could she?

“Please don't stare at me, let's eat." Elsa acted as if she couldn't stand being the center of attention from everyone.

“If you have anything more to say, wait until the meal is over!" Abella smirked, seeing right through Elsa's act. The solution to this situation was simple, a bottle of makeup remover could expose the liar. But Lola, blinded by anger, hadn't thought of this.

Abella, however, had no intention of meddling in the conflict between the sisters and casually said, "This foie gras tastes pretty good."

The words instantly grabbed everyone's attention.

Although Blake couldn't imagine Lola resorting to violence, he also found Elsa to be adorable most of the time, without any ulterior motives. He couldn't understand it. He proactively served them food and said, “Let's eat now, we can discuss this matter later."

“Blake, I really didn't hit her!" Lola had never felt so wronged before.

"Lola, nobody said you hit me, please stop bringing it up!" Even while eating, Elsa acted timidly, carefully offering food to Lola and constantly trying to make amends. Lola was almost exploding with anger.

"Lola, Abella just said the foie gras is delicious. What do you think?" Elsa smiled and continued, "If you like it, I can give you some more."

Lola was about to go crazy!

Isla couldn't find any other way to go upstairs, so she had to return to the hall. The hall was a mess, but she didn't pay any attention to it. Her mind was occupied with figuring out how to get closer to those two handsome men.

"Isla, why did you take so long? Is your stomach not feeling well?" Remy, relieved to finally see her, softly asked.

"The restaurant is just too big. I got lost for a moment... Sorry for making you wait." Isla looked up and saw Remy's ordinary face compared to those two men. She felt a bit disappointed.

"Isla, I have a question and I'd like to hear your opinion." Remy brought up the matter he had just considered. "Can we have separate engagement banquets for each side of our family?"
