Chapter 411 The Elegant Socialite
"I'm aware," responded Abella, her voice dripping with dismissive undertones. She would not have given the woman the time of day if it weren't for the sake of her dear aunt and uncle. However, Elsa, undeterred by Abella's cold demeanor, maintained her proximity. She even hastened her stride to match Abella's, ensuring they walked shoulder to shoulder."Abella, do you frequent this place?" Elsa inquired. The club, now under the ownership of Phillipe, was a regular haunt for Elsa. She harbored the hope of running into Phillipe by chance, believing that her lavish expenditure on five-star services might eventually catch his eye.Abella, however, chose to remain silent. Undeterred, Elsa ventured another question. "Does Phillipe often accompany you here, or do you visit alone?""Your cousin returns from the backwoods and lacks even the most basic of manners…" Elsa's companion, Samantha, couldn't resist a sneer. "Let her make a fool of herself, Elsa. Why waste your time on someone who’s clearly giving you the cold shoulder?"Elsa, truth be told, had little interest in engaging with Abella either. However, her desperation to discover if Phillipe was present at the club that night was overwhelming. Had Abella arrived in Phillipe’s car for a clandestine meeting? If that were the case, Elsa was determined to throw a wrench in the works. As the trio of ladies neared the elevator, a server swiftly whispered into his walkie-talkie, pinned securely to his collar. Within moments, a dozen servers descended in the elevator to the garage, forming a neat line in front of the elevator and effectively blocking their path."Some people simply don't understand. They're not members, yet they attempt to gain entry and get caught," Samantha commented, pulling Elsa closer to her side and regarding the line of servers with a haughty air. "What's this? Have you forgotten us already?""Samantha," the head server greeted with a bow, acknowledging her presence, before turning to Elsa with a polite nod, "Miss Medici.""You recognize us, yet you still obstruct our path?" Samantha retorted haughtily, casting a disdainful glance at Abella, "Let's make one thing clear—we have no association with her. Whatever you decide to do with her is none of our concern."Arm in arm with Elsa, Samantha prepared to force her way through the human barrier. The head server, however, spoke up respectfully, "I’m sorry, Samantha and Miss Medici. Could you please wait just a moment?""Wait?" Samantha scoffed. "In my entire life, people have always waited for me. Do you dare to ask me to wait?""My apologies, but the club has its rules..."Just as he finished speaking, the elevator's ding announced the arrival of the club manager. The servers parted, allowing the manager to stride through, completely ignoring Samantha and Elsa. He then approached Abella with a deep bow."Abella, we didn’t expect you. Please, allow us a moment. We're fetching the red carpet for you," the club manager offered."There’s no need for such a fuss," Abella replied, proceeding to walk forward. The club manager scurried behind her, while the servers remained bent over in a gesture of respect."Abella, please forgive our lack of attention. Your booth will be complimentary tonight."Upon hearing this, Samantha and Elsa were taken aback. "What? What’s going on?""It's not my tab today, no need to treat me special," Abella brushed off the formalities."But Abella, your understanding nature only makes me feel more indebted," the club manager responded, his tone filled with unwavering politeness. As the elevator door slid open, the manager pressed his hand against it, holding it open for Abella. He waited for her to step in before following, his body bent in a display of deep humility, as if Abella was the true owner of the establishment. Finally, the penny dropped for Samantha. This entire welcoming committee, including the dozen or so attendants, was here for Abella. They, despite being five-star members, were left standing aside as if they weren't worthy of sharing an elevator with Abella. Had they suddenly become insignificant?
"Who exactly is your cousin, Elsa?" Samantha inquired, a hint of irritation tingeing her voice. Even as members of a club where their annual expenditures surpassed ten million, they found themselves stepping aside for her.
"Could it be that she's been granted a substantial allowance since reuniting with her family?" Samantha pondered aloud. Could such an allowance be enough to outshine their spending at the club? It seemed improbable.Yet, how could Abella, a recent returnee to the Medici family, accrue expenses exceeding ten million at this establishment? Even with her extravagant spending, the club had no reason to arrange such a grand reception. Numerous high-spending clients hadn't received such treatment."I'm not sure," Elsa confessed, a pang of envy echoing in her voice. She hadn't seen anyone but the Bourbons receive such attention from the club manager. Could this be Phillipe's handiwork?Elsa mulled over the possibility of Phillipe orchestrating this spectacle, casting Abella in a light of vanity. Unbeknownst to Abella, the club was now under Phillipe's ownership. As per the arrangement, she took the VIP elevator straight to suite 901 on the rooftop.Abella had visited the ninth floor on several occasions, but this was her inaugural venture into suite 901. She knocked, and soon, an elegant voice beckoned from within, "Come in."Upon pushing the door open, Abella was taken aback to find herself in an antique tea room – a surprising find in a venue renowned for its nightlife and libations. The woman seated at the tea table was impeccably dressed, her demeanor dignified, and her grace undeniable. Upon sighting a young woman of about seventeen or eighteen, the woman expressed mild surprise, "Isn't Master Anika Moses coming?""I am Anika Moses," Abella responded. The middle-aged woman's gaze swept over Abella, intrigued by the young woman's appearance. Abella's countenance was beautiful and unique, her aura both austere and captivating. Such poise and beauty were rarely found in one so young.Abella, in turn, was assessing the sophisticated lady before her. Her eyes were more captivating than any blossom, utterly mesmerizing. Although she seemed to be in her thirties or forties, her beauty radiated with unparalleled grace."Please, take a seat," the middle-aged woman gestured towards the piano bench nearby. Abella recognized this as her cue to prove herself.Seated at the piano, her slender fingers caressed the ivory keys, producing a melody that filled the room with its charming notes. The elegant lady's tea-making faltered, effortlessly drawn into the cheerful spirit of the piece, deeply moved. The melody, infused with a strong personal touch reminiscent of Anika Moses, was so enchanting that it lingered in one's mind. The tea now forgotten, the beautiful lady paused, utterly lost in the exquisite piano music, enraptured. When the piece ended, Abella stopped and presented the sheet music to the woman, "Here's what you requested."The lady's complexion was pale, and her smile, akin to melting snow, brought a fresh vitality to her surroundings, enhancing her radiance."How long have you been playing?" she asked gently."A few years," Abella replied.
