Chapter 797 An Important Person Arrives

But she could only dream about it.

Stringless was way out of her league; no chance she could actually be her granddaughter.

She could only envy Abella's family deep down. Having such an awesome kid at home must be a blast.

"Stringless is so talented. She can play Go, rock the violin, and even bake birthday cakes."

"To make a cake this stunning, even a pro baker would feel second-rate."

"She's incredible. I don't know whether to envy Mr. Wodehouse for getting a cake from Stringless or for their tight bond."

"Yeah, they're like a grandpa and granddaughter. It's really something to be jealous of."

Abella popped a birthday hat on Clarence and lit the candles herself. "Shall we sing the birthday song together?"

The guests all nodded, grinning ear to ear as they started singing in unison.

Ian, who swore he'd never sing a birthday song for Clarence, was now belting it out with gusto.

A bunch of other teachers joined in too.

Surrounded by everyone, Clarence's eyes filled with happy tears.

They sang the birthday song three times before finally stopping.

Abella looked at Clarence with soft eyes. "Mr. Wodehouse, make a wish."

For the first time, Clarence realized that having a birthday party could be fun. He used to dodge people who'd ask him to take on students or make connections, so he avoided everyone. He never thought he'd have such a happy and open birthday tonight.

He closed his eyes and, for the first time, took making a wish seriously, greedily making several wishes.

"This guy's wish definitely includes that," Rodolfo whispered to Kenneth with a grin, "The whole passing on his legacy thing."

"Totally. If it were me, that'd be my first wish too, haha."

Everyone laughed as they watched Clarence finish making his wish.

"Let's blow out the candles together, everyone," Clarence said, and they all blew out the candles together.

All the servants popped the birthday confetti, and colorful streamers exploded and rained down.

The crowd cheered, urging Clarence to cut the cake.

Abella helped remove the candles, and Clarence handed the first slice of cake to Abella. "This birthday party is all because of Abella. I wanted to host it because of her."

If it weren't so hard to see her, Clarence wouldn't have used his birthday as an excuse to wait for Abella to show up.

Everyone could hear Clarence's affection for Abella and were super jealous. Not only was she talented, but she also earned the recognition and affection of a senior, which was pretty rare.

Over the years, whenever a teacher had a birthday, they'd give the first slice of cake to Abella, so she was used to it. She waited until everyone had their cake before eating hers.

"This is so delicious. It even has my favorite fruit inside. It's so tasty," Clarence praised the cake after just one bite, closing his eyes to savor it. "Abella's cake is better than the one she made for Rodolfo last time."

Rodolfo knew exactly what he meant. "You are so smug."

"Anyway, this cake tastes better than yours," Clarence said, looking satisfied and happy.

"Alright, alright, it's his birthday today. Why are you competing with him?" Kenneth said with a grin, trying to keep the peace.

"Abella, my birthday's in two months. Can you make me a cake too? It has to be bigger and taller than Mr. Wodehouse's." Before Ian could finish, Rodolfo jumped in, "Why not ask her to make you a spaceship instead?"

Abella couldn't help but laugh at their banter. She glanced up and saw Elsa heading towards Lola with a piece of cake.

Lola was chilling on a swing in the garden, eating cake like she was in her own world.

Since the spot was tucked away with no guests around, Elsa took the chance to smash the cake right into Lola's face.

Lola didn't even have time to yell for help.

Elsa smeared the cake all over her face.

Before Lola could get the plate off her face, Elsa stomped on her foot and shoved her off the swing with lightning speed.

Lola's head and back hit the ground hard, and she felt like her bones were about to shatter. She looked a total mess.

Her eyes, nose, and mouth were filled with cake, and she couldn't call for help. She didn't even get a chance to see who it was.

Elsa had a glass of red wine with her. She poured it all over Lola's fancy dress and stomped on her a few more times before walking away.

Lola was in a sorry state. She finally wiped the cake off her face and squinted her eyes open, but the person was already gone. She could guess, though, that it was Elsa.

"Lola?" Henry had just finished chatting with the guests and turned to find Lola in a disheveled state on the ground. He quickly ran over to help her up.

"What happened? Who messed with you?" Henry immediately took off his suit jacket and draped it over her, using his shirt sleeve to wipe her face.

Lola was furious. She pushed him away and bolted straight to the bathroom.

At that moment, a commotion arose in the crowd, and Ryan appeared, leaning on a cane and smiling.

"Is that Mr. Bourbon? He's here for Mr. Wodehouse's birthday party?"

Ryan's status was super prestigious, and he was someone all the guests looked up to.

There had been rumors that he was in poor health and needed to stay in the hospital to recover, but he showed up tonight looking very spirited.

He was dressed in a black suit, and although he leaned on a cane, he looked energetic and radiant.

All the guests swarmed to greet him.

"Mr. Bourbon, hello. I'm Sidney Wheeler, the head of Wind Electrical Appliances Company. My father is Lowell Wheeler. It's a great honor to meet you tonight. May I have the opportunity to shake your hand?"

"Mr. Bourbon, do you remember me? I'm Blanca, and this is my daughter Colleen. You held her when she was little." Colleen hadn't expected Ryan to show up. There were rumors that he was seriously ill and no longer attended social events.

Everyone in high society knew that Ryan's grandson was Phillipe.

Seeing Blanca giving her a look, Colleen quickly stepped forward and smiled. "Mr. Bourbon, hello. I'm Colleen. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Hello," Ryan said, trying to make his way to Clarence.

But too many people blocked his path.

"Mr. Bourbon? Is it really you? Do you remember me? I'm Bradley. Three years ago at the charity gala, my father and I sat behind you, and we greeted each other."
