Chapter 1104 Another Hidden Truth

"You had the nerve to mess with us, to hire someone to set fires and kill people, even to murder my daughter. Why don't you have the guts to come to us and say you want this company?" Beckett, tears streaming down his face, spoke with heart-wrenching sorrow, "If you had just come to us and told us what you wanted, I would have handed the company over to you. I would rather give it to you than see you like this, than be separated from Abella for so many years, than see her suffer out there. Do you understand? Family means everything to me."

Beckett's tears fell like rain as he angrily questioned, "Do you understand?"

To him, family always came first.

George's eyes welled up with tears. This was the first time he had seen Beckett break down like this, pouring his heart out. But it was too late.

They had already boarded the wrong ship and couldn't turn back.

"Margaret," Kimberly's tears flowed, her heart aching, "Is there something we don't know? I can't believe you hate us this much over just this."

Since they had come this far, it was better to lay everything out in the open.

Margaret's eyes also glistened with tears. "There are some things I've kept inside for a long time."

For so many years, she had tried to be a good wife, keeping her feelings bottled up. Finally, she could let it all out.

"We both had children for the Medici family, but the way Mom and Dad treated us was worlds apart. You had sons every time, and they spent more time with them than with Primrose and Elsa."

Margaret couldn't hold back anymore, tears welling up in her eyes. "I'll never forget the night I gave birth to Primrose. When Mom and Dad found out I had a daughter, they didn't even come to visit. They just sent a gift through the butler and only came to see me after I had recovered, pretending to care."

"You misunderstood!" Winslow was so anxious that tears were forming in her eyes. "Back then, it was because..."

She hesitated, finally wiping the tears from her face.

"Margaret, you really misunderstood!" Carl's voice cracked with emotion. "That night, Winslow and I were at a dinner party when we got the call that you were in labor. We were so happy, we dropped everything and rushed to the hospital. But then we got another call."

He glanced at Winslow, unsure whether to reveal the truth they had kept hidden for so many years, a secret they had planned to take to their graves.

"I'll tell it," Winslow said, her eyes red, looking older. "The night you had your C-section, did your brother call you several times?"

Margaret was taken aback. How did Winslow know about that?

"Not just that night. In the days leading up to Primrose's birth, did your brother often call you, asking for money?"

Margaret was shocked that Winslow knew even this.

When she was young, her parents ran a clothing factory. They weren't as wealthy as the Medici family or as prestigious as Kimberly's family, but they lived comfortably.

But everything changed when her brother grew up.

He started hanging out with a rough crowd, getting into trouble, and racking up gambling debts.

Debt collectors and angry victims started showing up at their door. Her parents paid off his debts to keep him safe, hoping he would change, but he only got worse.

By the time she and George were planning their wedding, her brother's debts had grown astronomical.

One night, she was kidnapped, stripped and photographed, and threatened to pay off her brother's debts within a week or the photos would be made public.

Fearing the Medici family would reject her, she used her wedding gifts to pay off his debts.

But even after the wedding, her brother kept asking for money, thinking the Medici family could cover his ever-growing debts, which soon reached millions.

Twenty years ago, inflation wasn't as bad, but when she found out her brother owed $20 million, she was furious. After a heated argument, she went into labor three weeks early with Primrose.

While she was in labor, her brother kept calling, saying he and their parents had been kidnapped and needed money to save their lives. The stress left her unable to produce milk.

Winslow continued, "The night of your C-section, someone called me from your mom's phone, saying your parents and brother were being held hostage. They demanded $20 million, or they'd start cutting off your brother's fingers."

Margaret was stunned, having no idea this had happened.

"We scrambled to gather the money, but $20 million was a huge sum. We managed to get $10 million, and I was told to deliver it alone to the factory. Carl insisted on coming with me, saying the cash was too heavy for one person."

"When we got to the factory, the kidnappers were furious that we only had $10 million. They stabbed us, tied us up, and doused the place in gasoline, planning to burn us all alive."

Margaret was in shock, unaware of any of this.

The factory, filled with flammable materials, caught fire quickly.

Luckily, Carl and Winslow were only tied up, not bound to anything, and managed to escape.
