Chapter 804 The Indifference of Parents

The nurse immediately knew that these wounds were caused by someone. Those people were too heavy-handed to beat a young girl like this.

As soon as Lola heard that it would hurt for another ten days, tears rolled down her cheeks, feeling particularly aggrieved and sad.

"Is there any danger to her life?" Henry asked.

"She was just cursing you with great energy. Don't worry, she won't die from this. It's just superficial wounds," The nurse said as she picked up the tray and walked out.

Henry looked at the bruised and battered Lola and couldn't help but feel heartbroken. "Who did this?"

Lola didn't speak, also wondering who hit her.

Although Enid hated her, it was unlikely that she would hire someone to beat her up at her doorstep afterward. That wasn't Enid's style.

Who could it be? Abella's face popped into her mind. It couldn't be Abella either.

Abella was always straightforward and upright. If she wanted to hit someone, she wouldn't resort to underhanded tactics.

As she thought about it, a person came to mind—Elsa!

'It must be that bitch!' She thought.

Only Elsa liked to be two-faced, pretending to be nice while plotting behind the scenes. Today, she smeared cake on her face, pushed her off the swing, spilled her drink, and even had someone cover her with a cloth bag and beat her up. It must all be Elsa's doing!

Thinking this, Lola clenched her fists in anger, gritting her teeth, "It's her."

Because before this, Lola had splashed champagne on her and even spat in the champagne. This must have enraged her!

"Who?" Henry was determined to get justice for Lola, even though he knew it was wrong for her to pretend to be KnightStrategist's student, to lie to Enid out of vanity, and to fall out with her old friend.

But after all, it was Lola, whom he had liked for so many years. He couldn't tolerate such things happening to her one after another.

"Ms. Lola Medici, are you in a lot of pain?" The servant saw her clenching her fists and wiping her tears in anger and quickly said, "Let me take you home."

"When are Mom and Dad coming back?" Lola asked, feeling extremely aggrieved and crying.

She was so badly injured, yet her parents were slower to arrive than Henry, an outsider! They were so unreliable!

"Mr. Medici and Mrs. Medici received the news and are rushing home as fast as they can. They should be here in half an hour."

Lola wanted to get out of bed, but Henry quickly picked her up, his voice full of concern, "I'll take you home."

Lola was about to scold him, but then she thought that Henry would be her best weapon against others in the future.

She couldn't scare him away.

So Lola started to cry again and said to Henry, "What urgent matter did you have to attend to? If it weren't for you, those people wouldn't have had the chance, and I wouldn't be like this now."

"I'm sorry, it's all my fault." Henry felt very guilty. He explained the work troubles he encountered to Lola in a gentle voice on the way home. After taking her home, he even carried her to bed and gave her a card, sincerely saying, "The deposit received for this project, along with future profits, are all yours."

"I don't want it." Lola pretended to throw it away, but she was actually waiting for Henry to pick it up for her.

Sure enough, Henry walked over, bent down, picked up the card, and put it back in her hand.

Lola was secretly pleased.

"There are fifty million dollars in it, and there will be more future profits. Tonight was all my fault." Henry regretted for a while before saying, "Rest well, I'll come to see you tomorrow."

Before leaving, he didn't forget to say, "Send me that person's name, and I'll handle it perfectly."

Lola was waiting for him to say this, but she still pretended to be pitiful, "You're my boyfriend. What if someone finds out? Forget it, I don't want to drag this on."

"How can we just forget it? Look at how badly you've been bullied!" Henry was more persistent than she was. "I won't let her get away with it. Don't worry, no one will find out."

Lola didn't speak.

"Send it to me later. Rest well, good night." As Henry left, he took out his phone and instructed his people to investigate, eager to find the person behind this immediately.

When Beckett and Kimberly rushed back, they saw Lola sitting on the bed in a sorry state.

"Dad, Mom." Lola cried, feeling particularly aggrieved.

But Kimberly didn't comfort her immediately. Instead, she looked somewhat indifferent.

Lola felt strange but didn't understand why.

"Lola, I heard you went to Mr. Wodehouse's birthday party tonight?" Kimberly asked.

Lola had been pestering them for an invitation before, but they hadn't received one. Instead, Lola's grandfather had an invitation but didn't go.

Lola didn't expect her mother's first concern upon returning to be about the party invitation rather than her injuries.

She cried, looking pitiful, "It was Henry who insisted on taking me. What's wrong, Mom? Why are you asking about this?"

"I heard from someone at the party that before Abella's identity as KnightStrategist was revealed, you bragged to your friends that you were her student. And you also told your friends that Abella ruined your engagement with Phillipe. Later, when Abella confronted you, you and your friends got into a fight?"

If it weren't for the person at the party who had known her for many years and wouldn't lie, she couldn't imagine that the Lola she had pampered for so many years could be so vain, smear Abella's reputation, and even have inappropriate thoughts about Phillipe. How could she tolerate this?

"Mom, who told you that?" Lola was about to deny it.

Kimberly said, "When we heard you were beaten and bitten by a snake, your dad and I were very worried, thinking you were in trouble, and wanted to stand up for you. But then we found out about your behavior at the party. Lola, are you still the Lola I know?"

"Mom! You've misunderstood me!" Lola cried and explained, "It was Enid. She has feelings for Phillipe and wants to take Abella's place. If you don't believe me, you can ask around. Tonight, Enid was openly flattering Mr. Ryan Bourbon in front of everyone. Her intentions were so obvious. And the blood on my face was also caused by her."

"Lola, we were shocked to hear about your behavior at the party. We couldn't believe it. If you didn't do it, we would be relieved. But we're afraid you've changed so much that we don't recognize you anymore." Beckett couldn't believe it when he heard it tonight, that Lola had changed so much. "Kimberly, she's badly injured. Let her recover first."

It was already past midnight. If they kept questioning her, people might think they were mistreating Lola.

"I'll find out the truth. I'll ask Abella tomorrow."
