Chapter 684 I Say

Oliver was sprinting like a madman and ended up tumbling off one roof, landing on another, and then rolling down to a terrace full of drying clothes.

The terrace was a mess of bamboo poles and hanging laundry. He crashed into a pile of clothes and took a hot minute to get back on his feet.

Abella was right on his tail. Jacques was about to yell at her to be careful, but she just leaped from one roof to the next and slid down to the terrace, following Oliver's path like it was nothing.

Jacques was floored. The roofs were so far apart, but Abella jumped without a second thought. And man, she was fast.

Seeing someone actually chasing him, Oliver freaked out and dove into a narrow alley, zigzagging through the maze like his life depended on it.

Abella was right behind him, almost catching up.

Just then, a little kid was waddling on the cobblestone path. Oliver grabbed the kid and tossed him behind him.

The kid's mom screamed in horror.

Abella used the wall to leap up and caught the kid mid-air. The kid, clueless about the danger, just giggled at Abella, thinking it was all a game.

The mom, though, was a wreck. She rushed over, crying, and hugged her kid, thanking Abella over and over.

Seeing how ruthless Oliver was, Abella picked up the pace. An old lady was chilling at her door when Oliver knocked her and her chair over. She hit the ground, crying out in pain.

Abella rushed over to help her up. The old lady was cursing, her chin bruised.

"Ms. Medici, let me handle this," Jacques said, helping the old lady sit up and handing her some cash from his wallet.

The old lady's eyes widened at the money. She quickly stuffed it in her pocket and locked her door, scared someone might see and rob her.

Seeing this, Jacques didn't bother calling a doctor and instead ran to catch up with Abella.

From a distance, he saw Abella throw a bamboo pole like a spear, nailing Oliver in the back.

Oliver yelped in pain and fell forward. Abella caught up and the two started brawling.

Jacques picked up the pace to help. Oliver pulled out a knife, but he was no match for Abella. He even threw some powder, but it didn't help.

Abella grabbed his hair and slammed him against the wall. "Try moving again."

"You Wolf Clique folks are so shady! You promised to spare me, and now you're trying to kill me?" Oliver spat, struggling against Abella's grip.

Abella and Jacques exchanged looks. 'Wolf Clique? Isn't Gregory part of that crew too?'

"Whoever made you that promise, go find them," Abella said, not letting go.

Oliver sneered. "Why the act? Wasn't it your boss who made that promise?"

Abella thought, 'Is he talking about Gregory? Or someone else?'

"I can let you live, but I need to know where the person who played your wife is," Abella said coldly.

Oliver sneered. "You testing me or something? You think she's not dead? Didn't she die right in front of you? You didn't even spare the kid, wiping out all threats is your style, right? She died right there, and you still don't believe it. If she were alive, I wouldn't be running."

Abella didn't expect to get so much info from him. Looked like the woman vendor and the kid who played their child were really dead.

Oliver was fuming. "You said after the job, we'd each get 200,000 euros and be spared. But you broke your promise, killed them both, and kept hunting me."

He thought they'd keep their word.

But he found out they wanted to eliminate all threats, so he bolted.

With nowhere else to go, he figured the most dangerous place would be the safest, hiding in this maze of a town. But within a month, they found him again.

"I'm not from Wolf Clique," Abella finally admitted. "I just want to know why you tricked Mr. Harris. Spill everything you know, and I can let you live."

Oliver was shocked and panicked.

So these two weren't from Wolf Clique. He was screwed.

"If I tell you what I know, I'm dead meat. I know how brutal they are. I'd rather you kill me now!"

If Wolf Clique found out, he wouldn't survive anyway.

Jacques didn't expect him to be so stubborn. Just then, Abella spoke coldly, "If you tell us, I can keep you alive. If you don't, I'll use you as bait. You're the bait they want, and they'll show up. Once we catch any of them, we'll get the truth sooner or later."

Oliver thought that made sense.

Jacques didn't expect Abella to be so sharp, using this to twist his arm.

"You know their methods. If I say you ratted them out, you know how ugly your end will be. Whether you want to live is up to you," Abella reminded.

Oliver didn't expect Abella to be so ruthless despite her young age.

"Killing me, what good does it do you?" Oliver asked, still resisting.

"My patience is running thin. I'll count to three. If you don't agree, there'll be no room for negotiation," Abella said flatly, "One, two."

Oliver didn't expect her to count so fast. Hearing her say "three," he couldn't hold back anymore. "Alright, I'll tell you, but how can you guarantee my safety?"

"If the people who want to harm Mr. Harris are from Wolf Clique and not you, I'll deal with Wolf Clique. If Wolf Clique is gone, how can they threaten your safety?"

"Just saying it doesn't mean squat. How do I know you can actually do it?"

It wasn't that Oliver didn't believe her, but she was too young, and the guy beside her looked just as young.

Could the two of them really take down Wolf Clique?

Seemed impossible!

"You got no choice but to trust us now."

Oliver gritted his teeth and finally said, "Fine, I'll trust you this once. What I know is..."

He spilled everything he knew, not for any other reason but because he didn't want to live in hiding anymore.

He wanted to stand in the sunlight and live openly.

He didn't want to be threatened by anyone or anything anymore.
