Chapter 638 Regressed

Abella looked up and asked, "Your name's Holly?"

"Yeah." Holly lifted her chin a bit, waiting for Abella's input.

"Third place in last year's Rivershineia Design Competition?"

Everyone was surprised Abella knew this. Even Holly looked a bit taken aback. "You followed that competition?"

"You've slipped." Abella flipped through the design drafts. "Based on last year, this year's work shouldn't look like this."

Just as Holly was about to respond, Abella grabbed a pen and started tweaking the draft. "The ruffles on the shoulders are unnecessary; not many can pull them off. If you want to keep them, try my approach."

Abella sketched out the ruffles, and the dress instantly looked much better.

"This way, it doesn't look tacky. Also, the waistline you think is a highlight actually makes the wearer look bulky, like they're pregnant. If you want to win with the waistline, check out these options." Abella quickly drew several waistline designs, making the dress pop.

Everyone was stunned. They didn't expect her to come up with so many styles so quickly, or to draw so well—it was clearly professional.

Compared to Abella's work, Holly's original design looked terrible.

"The color you chose is too dull. Switch to these three contrasting colors, and it'll look more sophisticated and eye-catching." Abella sketched a few more lines, and a beautiful, elegant dress appeared.

Holly was speechless. She couldn't believe how stunning Abella's modifications made the dress.

She had thought her design was perfect and that Abella wouldn't find any faults.

But under Abella's changes, her original draft looked like trash.

She couldn't hear what Abella said next; her mind was blank until the crowd's applause brought her back.

Abella had finished modifying the draft and handed it to her.

Holly didn't know how she took it or flipped through the pages, feeling shocked again and again.

People in the crowd started pulling out their own drafts, hoping for Abella's guidance.

Some employees were even asking about Abella's identity.

Phillipe returned from a phone call and saw Abella surrounded by people. His gaze softened.

"Mrs. Bourbon, could you look at these? I feel something's off, but I can't figure out what."

"Can you check mine? I drew several designs this morning, but now they seem mediocre. I don't know what's wrong."

"I'm happy with my draft, but I wonder if it can be more stunning. Mrs. Bourbon, could you help me improve it?"

Everyone crowded around Abella for advice. She wasn't impatient; she picked up a pen and helped them modify their drafts one by one.

"Why didn't I think of that? Changing the neckline like this is beautiful."

"With Mrs. Bourbon's modifications, I suddenly feel unworthy of being a designer."

"Mrs. Bourbon, how do you come up with so many ideas? It's like you have an endless source of inspiration."

"Yeah, we struggle to come up with these designs, and with just a few tweaks from you, they look amazing."

"Mrs. Bourbon, you must be a master in the design world. Your skills surpass many designers."

This last comment seemed to humiliate Holly.

Holly felt her face burning with embarrassment.

"Alright, I still need to take Mrs. Bourbon to visit other departments. You can figure out the rest on your own," Phillipe said, making the design team reluctant; they hadn't had enough time with Abella.

"Mrs. Bourbon, please visit the design department again when you have time."

"We'll treat you to coffee!"

"Yes, next time, feel free to ask for anything you want to eat or drink."

Abella's gaze softened. "Thank you."

"We should be thanking you. You've given us so much inspiration and made us realize we still have a lot to learn."

"Next time, I'll come up with even more stunning designs for you to see, Mrs. Bourbon."

"See you next time, Mrs. Bourbon."

"You must come back."

Abella smiled and nodded, her gaze sweeping the room, landing on Holly, who looked extremely embarrassed at the back of the crowd.

"Holly, come out for a moment," Abella called out.

Everyone in the design department looked at Holly. They thought she was in trouble for offending Abella earlier.

Now that Phillipe was back, they assumed Abella would take revenge.

Holly had been confident, relying on her recent international design awards, but now she felt ashamed. The sound of her high heels wasn't as confident as before.

"Mrs. Bourbon." Holly walked to the corridor outside the department, her voice much smaller.

"Casey resigned voluntarily," Abella said, leaving Holly stunned and awkward.

"Vice President Jason was taken away by the cops for harassing female interns. They reported him by name."

Holly's expression grew more unpleasant. She hadn't expected Abella to know everything she had said.

"The person who messed up Mr. Bourbon's office was Cecelia, not me," Abella continued. "She was fired for her actions. Mr. Bourbon didn't consider family connections and fired her, showing that in this group, personal ability and character matter more."

Holly was shocked and speechless.

She couldn't understand how Abella had heard everything from such a distance.

"Mrs. Bourbon." Holly didn't know how to argue. Looking at Phillipe beside her, his expression seemed cold.

"Mr. Bourbon." Holly didn't know how to explain.

"Also, in last year's Rivershineia Design Competition, it was my final vote that made you third place."

At that time, Holly and another contestant, Nikkiine, had the same number of votes. It was Abella's crucial vote that made Holly third and Nikkiine fourth.
