Chapter 807 So Sensible It Hurts

"Based on what you know about Lola, how likely do you think it is that she would say something like that?" Beckett and Kimberly looked at Abella nervously, as if waiting for an answer.

"Absolutely."

Hearing Abella's confident response, Beckett and Kimberly were both shocked.

"Has Lola done a lot of things to you behind our backs? Like being disrespectful, two-faced, or still having feelings for Phillipe?"

"Yes."

Beckett and Kimberly were once again deeply shaken. "When did it start?"

Was it in the past few weeks? Or the past month or two?

"Always."

"You mean, from the time you came home until now, for the past six months, Lola has always been like this? She just pretends in front of us?"

"Yes."

Abella's final answer left Beckett and Kimberly completely stunned. They looked at each other, speechless.

"I have some matters to attend to at the company, so I need to leave." Abella stood up, needing to handle some urgent business.

Kimberly watched her back for a long time before murmuring, "How could this happen?"

Lola was raised with their love and care. In their impression, Lola was obedient, sensible, kind, and considerate.

They never expected her to do such things behind their backs.

"We thought Lola and Abella could get along well." Beckett also didn't expect that since Abella returned home, some things were destined to be different.

"Abella must feel that over the past eighteen years, we've developed feelings for Lola, so we didn't pay much attention to Lola's behavior." Kimberly suddenly felt very sad. "We said we wanted to make it up to Abella, but we've let her get hurt in our home all this time."

And this hurt was caused by Lola, whom they had loved for eighteen years.

"Abella has always been low-key and quiet. If we hadn't asked today, and if Lola hadn't been like this for the past six months, I guess she wouldn't have said anything. Abella must have endured a lot of grievances where we couldn't see." Beckett couldn't help but feel guilty.

"She must have been afraid that Lola's actions would break our hearts and make us sad, so she kept it to herself. Abella is so considerate that it makes my heart ache." Kimberly's nose tingled as she thought about how, over the past six months, Abella had faced every disrespect and two-faced behavior from Lola alone. To spare their feelings, Abella had never said a bad word about Lola and always appeared unbothered.

"In the past six months, Lola must have badmouthed Abella a lot behind her back. Otherwise, Abella wouldn't be so sure it was her. Lola has really changed into someone we don't recognize." Beckett couldn't believe Lola had become like this.

"We thought that the things we said to Lola would get through to her. She always smiled brightly at Abella, and I felt relieved. I didn't realize it was all an act for us." Kimberly felt heartbroken and sad.

"If Lola and Abella really can't get along, there's no need to force them to stay under the same roof. After Easter, let's have her move out." Beckett sighed.

Easter was in about ten days, and it wouldn't be good to kick Lola out now when she was hurt.

"For now, let's have her move to the house next door to reflect," Beckett added.

Kimberly nodded. "It can be a form of punishment."

"This Easter, both our families' elders will be here. Over the years, they've also developed feelings for Lola. If they knew what Lola had done, they would be very disappointed. We'll have to find the right time to tell them, so it doesn't end up like last time when Mom got so upset she almost had another episode." Kimberly added.

Beckett had hoped for a happy resolution but never expected it to come to this.

He nodded. "I'll follow your lead."

"Lola might think that as her parents, we don't know what she's been up to, and that Abella, who doesn't like to make a fuss, won't expose her. So she's been acting with impunity. Let's have her reflect for a few days. If she still doesn't repent, then she doesn't deserve to be a Medici."

They couldn't let an adopted daughter cause trouble for their biological daughter.

Kimberly continued, "When Abella comes back, let's talk to her. She must have endured a lot of grievances over the past six months. We've cared too little for her."

Thinking about how Abella had been bullied in their home, Kimberly lost her appetite for breakfast.

"Don't think too much about it. Your health is important." Beckett said, putting some food on Kimberly's plate, but he couldn't eat either. After all, they had loved Lola for eighteen years. To say they had no feelings for her would be a lie.

They had poured their hearts into Lola for eighteen years, only to find out she had been bullying their biological daughter behind their backs. Anyone would feel shocked, heartbroken, and sad.

Thinking of Lola's tearful face last night, Beckett felt deceived.

"Lola cried so pitifully last night, as if the whole world had wronged her." Beckett couldn't believe her acting was so good. "If it weren't for Abella's words today, I would still feel guilty, thinking we had wronged her. But she's not innocent at all."

"She used our trust and affection over the years. Whenever something happened, she would cry in front of us. Yes, she used to be so obedient and sensible, it was hard to believe she would do such things. Every time she cried, we believed her." Kimberly's smile was bitter. She never expected the child they had loved the most would use their kindness to deceive them and play them for fools.

They weren't without suspicion, but they had unconditionally trusted the Lola they had raised.

Who would suspect their own child of doing bad things behind their back?

In front of them, Lola had always behaved so well that they didn't notice anything.

And every time they had a slight suspicion, Lola would cry so pitifully, looking so innocent, that they would feel compassionate and not think too much.

"Let's have breakfast first. We'll deal with this afterward." Beckett handed a sandwich to Kimberly, comforting her to eat a little.

Such an incident was undoubtedly disappointing and heartbreaking, but with Easter coming up, they still had to take care of Abella's matters.

"In fact, we are also to blame. If we had announced Abella's identity earlier and made her engagement to Phillipe public sooner, maybe Lola wouldn't have had so many bad thoughts. At least she wouldn't have been able to lie about the engagement to her friends."
