Chapter 665 Airplane Accident
"Dad." Lola's eyes were all teary as she looked at Beckett.
Ever since she was a kid, Beckett would always say yes to whatever she wanted.
Beckett was always the easiest to convince.
Beckett sighed, "Lola, I can't go along with this. Maria didn't just trip over the threshold by accident; she planned to hurt Abella. That's a crime!"
"Dad, it's not as bad as you think. Maria was just feeling bad for me, seeing me ignored, and wanted to stand up for me. She just went about it the wrong way," Lola knelt in front of Beckett, begging, "Dad, please, I've never asked you for anything my whole life."
Maria meant too much to her!
"Lola, we see you as our daughter. If you can't see how serious this is and think Maria is better than us, then you can make your own choice!" Kimberly turned away, still clearly mad.
Lola's eyes widened in shock. Kimberly, who used to be so gentle and caring, was now saying this!
"Mom, are you abandoning me?" Lola's tears welled up, looking super pitiful. "Are you gonna give me to Maria?"
"Lola." Beckett, standing nearby, felt a bit heartbroken. "What we mean is that Maria can't stay in this house anymore."
"Mr. Beckett Medici and Mrs. Medici, I know I've messed up big time, and I can't stay. Ms. Medici, don't make it hard for your parents. They're right. From now on, you gotta be good and listen to them. Their decisions are always right," Maria, with tears streaming down her old face, looked at Lola reluctantly and said, "Watching you grow from a little girl to a young lady, I'm already satisfied, truly."
Lola cried and shook her head, not expecting that in this house, she couldn't even keep a servant!
"Mr. Beckett Medici and Mrs. Medici, I'm already very grateful that you're not holding me accountable and letting me go. Thank you both for your care and tolerance over the past eighteen years. I've been very happy and satisfied to be in this house for eighteen years," Maria said this, thanked them solemnly, and then turned to leave.
"Maria," Lola cried, wanting to stop her, but remembering Kimberly's warning, she could only watch Maria with tears in her eyes.
"Ms. Medici, you look very beautiful when you smile. Smile more in the future," Maria said goodbye to everyone and then disappeared step by step from Lola's sight.
Lola instantly cried her heart out. She hadn't yet recovered from Steven stripping her of her inheritance of the jewelry company, and now Maria's departure hit her hard.
Kimberly suddenly remembered the time she questioned why the cap of the cooking oil wasn't tightened and why no one cleaned up the spilled oil. Before watching the surveillance footage, when Bia and Grace were falsely accusing Abella, Maria never stood up to say that she spilled the oil, letting Abella be wronged.
It wasn't until she watched the surveillance footage and questioned Maria that Maria pretended to say she was in too much pain from the fall to remember spilling the oil, blaming it on her old age and poor memory.
There were so many flaws at the time, but she didn't notice! She let Abella be wronged!
At that time, Maria even pretended to blame Grace, putting all the fault on Grace.
She never thought that Maria, who had been busting her butt in this house for eighteen years, was secretly so shady!
She was pulling all this shady stuff right under her nose, and she didn't even catch on.
Lauren, standing nearby, suddenly got what Abella was aiming for last time.
Last time, she asked Abella why she didn't show Beckett and Kimberly the video of Maria unscrewing the bottle cap. Abella said that the video could only prove Maria did it. As long as Maria insisted it was her own idea and had nothing to do with Lola, and if Lola played the "I've been your daughter since forever" card or cried in front of the other elders or her brothers, at most, Maria would get the boot.
Lola would probably still stay in the Medici family.
Abella's prediction was spot on.
Because the micro surveillance camera only caught Maria unscrewing the bottle cap and pretending to spill the oil on the floor.
So Maria took all the heat, and Lola got off scot-free.
Lauren figured if she spoke up now and said Lola was in on it too, but couldn't back it up with evidence, Beckett and Kimberly might think she was just stirring the pot.
Plus, Lola would definitely make her life hell afterward.
Lauren now saw that Abella's long game was right. It wasn't about being noble by letting Maria go; it was just that nailing Maria wouldn't do squat. If they were gonna nail someone, it should be Lola.
Kimberly saw Lola still bawling, got up, and went upstairs, feeling a bit upset.
Beckett quickly followed her. "Honey, chill out."
Abbie, standing nearby, reached out to support Lola. "Ms. Lola Medici, don't cry. Even though Maria can't stay, you can still keep in touch with her on the down-low."
Lola looked up at the servant in front of her and suddenly realized this was the same Abbie who had her back last time.
"Abbie." Lola hugged her and cried her eyes out.
In this house, she was already feeling isolated and helpless. Having a servant to lean on wasn't so bad.
Abbie didn't know how to comfort her, so she just patted her back. "Ms. Lola Medici, I'm here. I'll take good care of you from now on."
Meanwhile, Abella was sitting on a plane when a maid brought her a glass of lemon water and some snacks. "Ms. Abella Medici, have something to eat."
Abella looked up from her laptop and said casually, "You don't need to serve me. Go rest."
She didn't expect Kimberly to arrange for a servant, Anita, to take care of her the whole trip.
"Ms. Abella Medici, I'm not tired. I want to stay by your side." Anita stood respectfully, "You go ahead with your work. Just call me if you need anything."
"Then sit down. Don't stand."
Anita hesitated for a moment but still didn't dare, whispering, "It's against the rules."
"With me, my word is the rule. Sit."
Anita didn't expect Abella to be so commanding. After sitting down, she secretly glanced at Abella. She was really cool, with a cold and clear vibe, way better than Lola.
"Ms. Abella Medici, can I..." Before Anita could finish her sentence, the pilot's voice came through the system, filled with pain and agony.
"Ms. Abella Medici." Her voice sounded weak and feeble.
"What's wrong?" Abella asked.
"I don't feel well." The pilot could no longer control the plane.
