Chapter 782 Why Hasn't She Arrived Yet

He was all hyped up, "Ms. Abella Medici, you finally made it! Mr. Wodehouse has been hanging around the door forever, but he had to bail 'cause too many folks wanted to chat him up. He just dipped, and now you're here."

"Let him chill for a bit. We can holler at him when the other teachers show up," Abella said, knowing Clarence was beat from all the socializing and wanted to give him a break.

The butler noticed Abella holding a small rectangular box, about the size of two phones, and said with a grin, "Ms. Abella Medici, is that a birthday gift for Mr. Wodehouse? He's gonna be stoked to see it!"

Abella was about to hand the gift to the butler when he said, "Ms. Abella Medici, you should give it to him yourself. Nothing would make him happier than getting a gift from you personally."

Abella nodded. "Alright, I'll give it to him later."

She took the gift inside.

Lola saw her and bit her lower lip. 'Damn it, even though she's dressed so plain, she still grabs all the attention as soon as she shows up.'

"That girl is so gorgeous!" Enid couldn't help but blurt out, "Why's she here alone? How did Mr. Wodehouse invite such a young girl? Who is she?"

Lola had gone all out with her outfit today, but she still couldn't outshine Abella's face.

Her face was cold and classy, and her clear eyes made it impossible to look away.

"She's Phillipe's current girlfriend," Lola suddenly spilled.

"What did you say?" Enid was floored, covering her mouth in disbelief as she looked at Abella and then at Lola, stuttering in shock. "You mean..."

Lola nodded, confirming what Enid couldn't say.

Enid was totally blown away, finding it hard to believe that such a proud and cold-looking girl would steal someone else's fiancé.

How low!

Other girls also started whispering when they saw Abella.

"Who is that girl? Why's she here alone?"

"Her outfit is way too chill."

Everyone at the birthday party was dressed to impress, hoping to catch the eye of some big shots. They had put a lot of effort into their looks.

Some wore limited edition jewelry, and some even paid crazy attention to the thickness of their eyebrows.

But Abella wore a simple, casual outfit, looking fresh and makeup-free, with glowing skin.

"Could she be a servant's daughter, sneaking out to see the world?"

"Can a servant have such poise?"

"Some servants mess around with rich people and have daughters with poise. I think she looks like she's here to snag a rich kid."

"Mr. Wodehouse invited folks from his generation. This girl shows up solo, no elder in sight. Should I go ask her?"

Colleen was the first to step up, her smile dripping with a sense of superiority. "Hey there, mind telling me which elder you came with?"

Abella didn't recognize Colleen but remembered it was Clarence's birthday bash. Not knowing the connection between this girl and Clarence, she replied coolly, "I came by myself."

Colleen was genuinely surprised. "No one introduced you?"

"Do you need an intro to be here?"

Colleen realized this girl didn't even know what an introduction was, so she probably wasn't invited.

"What's your deal with Mr. Wodehouse?" Colleen asked nosily, "My grandpa is tight with Mr. Wodehouse, so I got to come to his birthday party. Do you know Mr. Wodehouse?"

Abella said, "Yeah, I know him." Then she walked straight into the hall.

Abella made it to the main building, and sure enough, the table was loaded with her favorite snacks.

She grabbed a piece of cake and had just taken a bite when her phone buzzed. She looked at it and saw several teachers chatting in the group.

Clarence: [What do you think Abella is up to? She hasn't replied to any messages. Does she have something urgent tonight and can't make it?]

Ian: [Why do I suddenly feel like laughing?]

Rodolfo: [It's cool if she can't come. It's not like you're only living until this year. There will be many more birthdays. You're too old to be so sentimental. If you don't see Abella today, you can see her tomorrow.]

Clarence: [If it were your birthday party and you couldn't see Abella, would you still say that?]

Rodolfo: [It's because it's not my birthday party that I can say that. Don't be sad. I'll come to chat with you soon. Wait for me!]

Clarence: [Who cares about you.]

He exited the group chat and checked the WhatsApp page. Abella still hadn't replied to his message.

'Must be that Abella's network is bad.' Thinking this, he sent another WhatsApp message to Abella.

Clarence: [Abella, where are you? It's been a while since you last came to my manor. Did you forget the way? If you're nearby, I can come to pick you up!]

Abella saw the message and couldn't help but smile.

She was about to reply when she suddenly got a message from Kenneth.

Kenneth: [Abella, are you already there, making Mr. Wodehouse anxious on purpose? Listen to me, let him wait a bit longer. He needs to learn patience at his age.]
