Chapter 730 New Love and Old Flame
Abella chuckled. "The legendary Phillipe, giving up?"
"With you, I'm always the loser, never the winner," Phillipe's voice was smooth and sweet, his eyes brimming with love.
Abella saw the deep affection in his eyes. She suddenly realized that having someone look at her like that was all she needed in this life.
The hot air balloon slowly touched down.
Phillipe kissed her again.
Abella felt the soft, amazing kiss, his breath so close, right in front of her.
Lola's mood, which had just lifted, soured again.
The photographer snapped the moment, thinking this gig was a breeze. 'A hot guy and a gorgeous girl, every shot's a winner, no need for edits.'
Phillipe held Abella's hand as they stepped out of the basket, making the photographer grab his camera again for more shots.
Abella, being led by Phillipe, noticed Lola nearby out of the corner of her eye.
"Hey, what a coincidence," Lola faked a greeting.
But Abella didn't bite, just looked away calmly.
"My girlfriend's saying hi," Henry's words made Phillipe pause. Earlier, he was swamped by photographers and bodyguards, missing everyone else around.
"Are you talking to my fiancée?" Phillipe's stare was intense, no one dared to mess with him.
The head bodyguard never thought the couple wanting to visit were Lola and her boyfriend!
This was a mess.
He messed up by not checking properly before letting them in.
Phillipe couldn't stand Lola.
"My fiancée can talk to whoever she wants or not," Phillipe's eyes were sharp.
But Henry laughed. "Mr. Bourbon, ever thought about your ex-fiancée's feelings?"
Phillipe sneered, "I've only ever had one fiancée."
He pulled Abella closer and introduced her, "It's her. I don't know who this ex-fiancée you're talking about is."
Seeing the argument, Lola, knowing Henry's status wasn't worth showing off, felt arguing would just be embarrassing.
She was scared Phillipe would spill about her being an adopted daughter of the Medici family, so she tugged on Henry's sleeve and said, "Let it go."
"In front of a new love, you can even deny an old one. Mr. Bourbon, you're really heartless," Henry suddenly looked down on him.
As a man, denying someone you once loved showed a lack of responsibility!
Even though he didn't know why the Bourbon-Medici marriage was called off, Lola had once loved Phillipe deeply. Now, Phillipe was holding hands with a new love, treating Lola like a stranger, completely ignoring her feelings.
What was so special about a guy like that!
Phillipe glanced coldly at Lola, then looked away, saying coldly, "We were never a couple, never loved, so there's no old or new."
"Henry!" Lola tugged on Henry's sleeve, not wanting more embarrassment!
Seeing how little she mattered to Phillipe, Henry would probably think all the cool stuff she bragged about was just BS.
"Lola." Henry, watching her walk away, shot Phillipe a warning look before catching up to her.
"Forget it." Abella squeezed Phillipe's hand. "No need to get worked up over something so petty."
Phillipe, who was fuming a second ago, felt his anger melt away because Abella held his hand.
He shot a glance at the head bodyguard, who quickly bowed and said, "Mr. Bourbon, my bad for not checking properly before letting them in."
"Forget it, let's bounce." Abella pulled Phillipe forward, and Phillipe didn't hold the head bodyguard accountable.
"Lola!" Henry caught up and grabbed Lola's hand.
Lola angrily shook him off. "Haven't you embarrassed me enough? Do you have to humiliate me completely to be happy?"
"I didn't mean to embarrass you!" Henry stammered, "I just couldn't stand him treating you like that."
"How he treats me, what does it have to do with you?"
"You're my girlfriend." Henry, clueless about what he did wrong, explained, "I just want to protect you."
"Henry, sometimes you are really annoying." Lola, fuming, turned and walked off.
Henry stood there, stunned, watching Lola's retreating figure, hurt in his eyes, but he quickly chased after her. "Lola! Listen to me, I just wanted to stand up for you."
Lola, storming off, snapped, "What status do you have to stand up for me? Phillipe could crush you with a single word!"
"So, you care about me? You're worried he'll come after me, right?"
Lola was speechless, angrily marching forward, feeling humiliated.
Henry's lips curled into a gentle smile. "Don't worry, I'll protect myself, the company, and you. Everything will be fine."
Outside the flower field, Melanie was fuming. "Is Lola an idiot?"
"I think she's very foolish." Cecil's response startled Melanie.
"Cecil, what are you doing here?"
"Henry asked me to come over and deliver a heart-shaped kite." Cecil had just bought the kite, only to find them arguing when he arrived.
"Lola is so pretentious." Cecil, seeing them leave, decided not to deliver the kite, and quietly asked Melanie, "What are you doing here?"
"I came with my family to check out some land, and I noticed Henry's car parked there. I didn't tell my parents and just made an excuse to come over."
She didn't expect to see such an infuriating scene!
That Lola was so fake!
Poor Henry, her foolish brother, completely under Lola's spell without realizing it!
"Henry is really foolish," Cecil, seeing Henry chase after Lola, said to Melanie, "They're gone, you can stand up now."
They had been sitting there for quite a while.
"I twisted my ankle." That was why Melanie had been sitting on the grass.
"What? Let me take you back to your parents. Where are they checking out land?"
"They went back." Melanie had planned to check things out and then take a cab back, but she didn't expect to twist her ankle.
