Chapter 534 Leading the Team to the Competition
"The freshmen really want you to lead the team. It's their wish, not mine."
"So you're ignoring what I want?"
"Abella." Rodolfo quickly put on a charming smile. "Ten universities organize this competition. It only happens every four years and gets a lot of attention. Last time, and the time before that, our university didn't do so hot."
Abella realized it was probably pretty bad.
Rodolfo added, "Everyone's counting on you. This time, you have to help me save face!"
Abella felt a bit frustrated and said, "So you just want me to advertise for Medical University."
"Don't you think that if more excellent students choose our Medical University, there will be more people saving lives in the future? It's a good thing! Our medical research needs more students to participate."
"Mr. Wilson, are you in there? Did you hear what I just said?" Brian cautiously knocked on the door again.
The lab door opened, and Rodolfo cheerfully pushed Abella out. "The top scorer is here, you guys go ahead. Make sure to get a top-three finish this time!"
Abella was speechless and thought, 'Did I agree? And just top three? Rodolfo's expectations have really lowered.'
Hearing "top three," Brian's shoulders tensed with the weight of the expectations. He knew all too well the dismal track record of Medical University in past showdowns.
They were always knocked out early.
Snagging a spot in the top three felt like a far-off dream, with even cracking the top eight seeming like a tough nut to crack.
The real kicker? He'd just clinched the title of student council president and now had to bear this heavy duty and mission. Tears threatened to spill but he swallowed them down, maintaining his composure in front of such a bombshell.
On the way, he introduced himself to Abella, "Hi, I'm the student council president, Brian. I know your name is Abella. I'm really glad you're leading the team today. Thank you."
Abella's faint smile greeted his introduction. "No worries."
When that smile graced her features, she transformed from distant and formidable to radiant beauty. Mesmerized, Brian clocked her for three solid seconds before snapping back, his cheeks flushing.
He hadn't anticipated that the star scorer would be warmer than the rumors painted her to be, let alone being drop-dead gorgeous up close.
"This competition is run by ten schools, split between pros and talents." Brian looked away fast, avoiding Abella's starry gaze like it held secrets.
Those eyes were like a galaxy, so damn captivating.
"Innovation University's the big cheese in this roster, so they're hosting in their two key spots. South hall's for the pros, north's for talents. Only freshies can throw down, meaning we're sending squads to both zones."
"We?" Abella was a bit surprised.
"Yep... you're the main leader, and I'm the assistant leader."
Since Brian was a junior, he had more experience and knowledge, making the school see him as a safer bet for second fiddle.
He added, "The talent competition includes piano, calligraphy, stuff like that. The professional one covers medical practice, brainpower contests, and so on."
Abella wasn't clear on the specific competition processes and content, only knowing that Joanna and Josie would participate in the medical practice competition.
At this moment, the two teams from Medical University stood in two lines on the playground. Seeing Abella, they playfully teased, "Hello, top scorer."
"The top scorer can choose to participate as she wants. That's nice. When will I have that kind of skill?"
"Top scorer, how do you study? Can you teach us?"
"Top scorer, why aren't you competing?"
Abella smiled at the people in front of her. "Do youhave confidence in winning today?"
"Nooo—" The crowd deliberately dragged out the word, laughing together.
"Be serious!" Brian controlled the scene, playing the student council president role to a T, and the giggling people stood back up straight. "This competition's a once-in-four-years deal. No room for second-guessing. Lay it all out there, show 'em our A-game, and let 'em see Medical U's no slouch!"
Abella cheered them on, saying some encouraging words. The crowd was surprised to find that Abella seemed more gentle and approachable than the rumors suggested.
"Now, let's go."
It wasn't far from here to Innovation University. Abella led the way, with the two teams following behind her and Brian.
At this moment, Joanna and Josie quietly squeezed to the front, each holding one of Abella's arms.
"We missed you! Why haven't you come for so long! Clare too, always taking leave. It's just the two of us in the dorm, so boring!"
"The day before yesterday, Camila sent a huge package. Really huge. Josie and I had to borrow a cart to bring it back to the dorm. It's definitely full of delicious food."
"Abella, Camila is so good to you."
Because Camila had visited their dorm before, they all knew about her.
Abella was a bit surprised that Camila had sent her food again without telling her.
Seeing Joanna and Josie squeezing next to Abella, others who wanted to be friends with her and were curious about her also tried to approach her.
The two teams soon turned into a scattered group, with some people chatting non-stop around Abella and others chasing Brian for his phone number.
At Innovation University.
To accommodate the participants from the ten schools, the university had cleared the backstage areas of the north and south halls and set them up as rest areas.
At this moment, in the north hall, a group of people surrounded Lola, admiring her new dress, new jewelry, and new shoes, all from the latest WN collection.
WN was a recent breakout brand with innovative and stylish designs, becoming a favorite among many socialites, celebrities, and heiresses.
Some said QY had met its strongest competitor yet, as WN's popularity was quickly rivaling QY's!
