Chapter 1098 Unable to Decipher the Code

"Stop struggling. It's pointless," Lola said coldly, surveying the scene of death and injury around her. "You're all gonna die anyway, so why waste the effort?"

Sam was sprawled among a pile of chairs, feeling as broken as the furniture around him. But he knew he couldn't give up. Abella had entrusted him with a mission: to get the Medicis out safely.

Quincy reached out a hand and pulled him up.

The bodyguards who had been helping with the chairs had already been thrown out the window by the drugged-up attackers. Their fate was unknown.

Sam and Quincy helped Carl and Winslow to their feet, shielding them as they prepared to face the seven or eight drugged attackers in front of them.

Behind Phillipe and Abella stood Beckett and Kimberly, who needed protection, along with the unconscious Scorpion.

Phillipe and Abella stood shoulder to shoulder, quietly discussing their next move.

"Abella, forget about us. You need to get out of here," Kimberly pleaded, on the verge of tears. With Phillipe and Abella's skills, they could easily escape through the window using the chairs.

But they were too responsible to abandon their families.

Beckett knew it was useless to argue with Abella, so he turned to Phillipe.

"Phillipe, I've never asked you for anything. Today, I'm begging you to take Abella and go. If she dies, Kimberly and I won't survive either."

"Don't worry, I'll protect Abella and get us all out safely," Phillipe assured him. He and Abella had already discussed their plan.

Each armed with a short knife, they lunged at the drugged attackers, trying to find their weak spots.

They stabbed the attackers in the shoulders and arms, but it wasn't effective. They quickly tried other areas.

Sam was clearly struggling. These drugged attackers were like indestructible monsters, draining his energy.

He realized he had underestimated the situation. When he received Abella's message about Lola kidnapping the Medicis, he had been dismissive, thinking Lola couldn't cause much trouble. He had only brought a few dozen men to join Phillipe's group.

But even with their combined forces of over a hundred, they were no match for these drugged attackers.

Suddenly, a voice called from outside the window. "Ms. Medici, catch this! "

One of Abella's men threw in several bottles of knockout powder, usually kept in the car for emergencies.

If the attackers hadn't thrown him out the window, he wouldn't have had the chance to retrieve them.

Sam quickly caught a bottle, and Abella and Phillipe did the same.

They scattered the powder at the attackers, but it had no effect.

"They're not human in the traditional sense, so the powder doesn't work on them," Abella realized.

"Do we have anything else?" Sam shouted to the people outside.

Soon, another bag was thrown in. "Sam, Ms. Medici, catch."

The bag contained eight or nine small bombs Abella had made, each the size of a ping-pong ball.

Sam quickly grabbed the bag, took two bombs for himself, handed two to Quincy, and threw the rest to Abella.

"Kill them," Lola ordered, sensing the danger these items posed to her attackers.

Sam mustered all his strength, forcing one of the attackers back a few steps. As the attacker snarled in anger, Sam shoved a bomb into his mouth and yelled, "Retreat!"

Quincy quickly pulled Carl and Winslow to safety.

Sam ran to a safe distance. About two seconds later, the bomb exploded, blowing the attacker's head apart and dropping him to the ground.

Did the bombs work on the attackers?

Everyone felt a surge of hope. Phillipe tied two attackers together and shoved a bomb into one of their mouths. The explosion killed the one holding the bomb, but the other remained unharmed.

The unharmed attacker broke free of the ropes and advanced on Phillipe in anger.

Abella kicked him back several steps, shoved a bomb into his mouth, and with a loud bang, the attacker was destroyed.

Lola watched in fury as eight or nine of her father's drugged attackers fell. But fortunately for her, Abella and the others had run out of bombs.

Lola's eyes gleamed with satisfaction as she ordered the remaining attackers, "Tear them to pieces."

The attackers charged again.

At that moment, Abella's watch rang. It was Tony calling.

She had sent Tony to the hospital to capture a mysterious person who had threatened to kill the entire Hall family if Henry didn't kill her by midnight.

Abella was determined to find out who this mysterious person was.

She answered the call while fending off the attackers.

"Ms. Medici, we caught the mysterious person. Guess who it is?" Tony's voice came through the watch.

Abella had no time for guessing games. "Bring more bomb balls to Holy Church."

"What? Ms. Medici, what's going on over there?" Tony quickly ordered his men to follow him as he left the hospital. "By the way, Henry asked me to give you something—a phone."

Abella saw three attackers closing in on Kimberly and rushed to help, but one of the attackers kicked her ten feet away, slamming her into a pillar.

"Ms. Medici, are you okay?" Tony's voice was filled with concern as he heard the impact.

Abella could hear Tony and his men getting into their car and starting the engine.

Seeing more attackers approaching, and with Phillipe unable to help immediately, she instructed Tony, "Turn on that phone and look for the drugged attackers' weak spots."

"Weak spots? What do you mean? Are you facing those drugged attackers again?" Tony was confused. Abella had previously discovered their weak spot was the head. Had it changed?

"Hurry," Abella urged, enduring the pain. As one of the attackers got close, she stabbed his thigh with her knife.

The weak spot wasn't in the thigh either... and now her knife was broken in two.
