Chapter 214 Awkward Situation
The admissions officers from various prestigious universities received the message early in the morning and rushed on their way without even taking a sip of water.
They graciously thanked Mr. Wilson for the invitation and were about to enter the house.
"Isla, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and lead the teachers." Mrs. Wilson said with a smile, full of enthusiasm.
Upon hearing the name "Isla," everyone's footsteps suddenly paused, looking at Mrs. Wilson with suspicion.
"Madam, may I ask if Isla is your daughter's nickname?"
"No, she's just called Isla..."
Upon hearing the name "Isla," everyone suddenly realized that they had found the wrong person!
It's all because those teachers who were with them earlier were too eager to grab students, competing with each other without confirming the identity of this candidate first!
They almost walked into the wrong house for tea!
"I'm sorry, is this not Abella's house?" one of the professors suddenly asked.
Upon hearing the name "Abella," Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Wilson's expressions froze.
"We are looking for Abella. According to the student records, she filled in this address, right?" Another admissions officer took out Abella's personal information registered at the school and compared it with the house number outside. It was indeed the right place!
"Could Abella have carelessly filled in the wrong house number?"
"I'm sorry, do you have any neighbors with a child named Abella?"
"She probably just made a careless mistake and filled in the wrong house number!"
There are many villas here, so Abella probably lives in one of them!
"You, are you looking for Abella...?" Mr. Wilson was struck as if by lightning and was at a loss for words!
Mrs. Wilson instinctively asked, "Is she doing well in her studies?"
"Yes, she was the top scorer in this SAT!"
The four words "top scorer in SAT" struck like lightning, leaving the Wilson family, including their servants, dumbfounded!
Abella is the top scorer in SAT?
Wasn't her previous academic performance below average? Did these teachers mistakenly read the name?
How could Abella be the top scorer in SAT?!
"It seems like we've found the wrong person, we apologize." The teachers saw the expressions of the Wilson family and quickly apologized, ready to leave.
Mrs. Wilson hurriedly stopped one of the professors, "I'm sorry, can Isla's score this year qualify her for your school?"
The professor from Stanford University, whose hand was caught, finally realized why Isla's name sounded familiar.
He calmly withdrew his hand, becoming a completely different person from the enthusiastic one just now.
He looked at Isla,"Let me confirm again, your name is Isla?"
"Yes." Although Isla was deeply affected by Abella's grades, she still smiled and politely said, "I scored 601 on the exam this year."
"You won't get in." The old professor was about to leave, but Isla hurriedly asked, "Did the admission score for Stanford University increase?"
The old professor's gaze fell back on Isla, with a hint of displeasure. "I heard that you achieved a ranking in a grand piano competition through plagiarism. Your behavior is unacceptable. Even with a perfect score, our school would not accept a student like you!"
Upon hearing this, the teachers from other universities were stunned. They couldn't believe that someone who appeared gentle and polite like Isla would resort to plagiarism to achieve her ranking.
This was not acceptable!
Isla's face turned pale in an instant.
Another admissions officer from a different university spoke up, "Although our admission score this year is 600, our university also does not admit students with questionable conduct."
"We feel the same way."
"Don't apply to our university. Even if you do, we won't accept you. Our principal values student conduct more than admission scores!"
...
Hearing the successive rejections from these prestigious university professors, Isla's face turned as pale as snow, and she could barely stand!
Mr. Wilson was thunderstruck and only realized what had happened after they left.
Mrs. Wilson, seeing the servant still recording the video nearby, angrily reprimanded, "What are you still recording? Isn't it embarrassing enough?"
The neighbors from several nearby mansions were also watching their humiliation, especially Hazel, who previously sought a contract with them. She had a look of disdain and schadenfreude in her eyes.
Furious, Mrs. Wilson felt as if she had been slapped multiple times. She grabbed Isla's arm and whispered to the other servants, "Get inside now!"
Everyone quickly entered the house, closed the door, and even locked it.
"How could Abella possibly be the top scorer on this SAT? How is that possible?" Mrs. Wilson nearly went insane, pacing back and forth in the living room. "She must have cheated! I will report her! How does she have the qualifications to be the top scorer on this SAT?"
Before anyone else could speak, Mrs. Wilson indignantly exclaimed, "It must be her. She leaked what happened at the award ceremony; otherwise, how could these professors from prestigious universities know about it? Don't forget, that award ceremony was not made public!"
Mrs. Wilson could hardly contain her hatred towards Abella!
"I don't think it was Abella." Mr. Wilson sat on the couch, devoid of his previous energy and replaced by embarrassment and desolation.
Isla was also saddened that her father still believed in that despicable girl. If it wasn't Abella who leaked it, then who?
"How do you know it wasn't her? You're just favoring her!" Mrs. Wilson became furious, venting her anger, "You're just like your mother, both deceived by that bastard Abella!"
"If Abella really leaked this matter to the professors at Stanford University, it means that they know each other. But just now, the professor clearly didn't know Abella and mistakenly thought Isla was this year's top scorer!"
Upon hearing this, everyone found it reasonable...
"Maybe she leaked it over the phone? So the professor hasn't seen her face," Mrs. Wilson speculated.
"It doesn't matter who leaked it now!" Mr. Wilson corrected angrily, "What's important is that Isla has been rejected by those prestigious universities. What will the neighbors say? Will she still be able to apply to the universities in the college town? If not, and Remy gets attracted to another girl, what will Isla do?"
"True," Mrs. Wilson fell silent, thinking of a solution.
"Don't bring everything back to Abella. If it weren't for your extreme actions back then, we could have taken pride in Abella becoming the SAT top scorer!"
"If our relationship wasn't so strained, even if Isla plagiarized Abella's composition, Abella wouldn't have gone to such extremes! Making us pay money and cut ties with us!"
"She knows Romer. Maybe he can help us improve our relationship with Abella! You've ruined such good connections!"
