Chapter 643 Standing Up for a Best Friend

"I still want a drink," Phillipe eyed the juice in Abella's hand. "I'm kinda thirsty."

Abella glanced at the juice. "Don't you have your own?"

"Yours tastes better."

"Here, take it," Abella pushed the juice towards Phillipe and grabbed another for herself.

Phillipe felt a bit down as his plan didn't work out.

Abella smiled, amused. A few girls nearby found their interaction annoying.

After a bit, Phillipe got up to wash his greasy hands from the pastries.

Abella stayed in the garden, sipping her juice and enjoying the view.

"I can't stand her smug look!"

"If Lola can tolerate it, I can't."

"Look at her, acting like she owns the place! How dare she!"

"What's she doing now?"

They saw Abella tear open a small packet and pour the powder into Phillipe's cup.

"Is she drugging his drink?"

"How dare she?"

"What is she up to?"

A few girls rushed over, dropping their drinks and snacks. "What are you doing?"

Abella looked at them, puzzled. "What's the matter?"

"How dare you ask! What did you just put in Phillipe's cup? What are you trying to do?"

"You venomous woman, you got what you wanted and still won't stop. You want to be Phillipe's wife? Dream on! Do you even know your place?"

"Trying to be Phillipe's wife is one thing, but using such dirty tricks in Lola's house? Shameless!"

From a distance, Phillipe had just finished washing his hands and saw a message from Abella, signaling him to stay put.

Abella looked at the angry rich girls and lazily asked, "Lola's friends?"

"That's right! We're Lola's best friends!"

The girls stood in front of Abella, full of righteous anger, as if defending Lola.

Lauren heard the commotion and was about to intervene when Phillipe signaled her to wait. He wanted to see what the girls were up to.

"You haven't said what you put in Phillipe's cup. If he knew your ambitions, he'd kick you out without hesitation."

"Yeah, Phillipe hates scheming girls like you!"

"Unlike Lola, who is noble and pure."

"Just coffee sugar," Abella pointed at the other unopened packets on the table. "If I really put something in it, he'd be thrilled."

She finished speaking and smiled at Phillipe in the distance.

Phillipe grinned mischievously; Abella really got him.

But to the girls, Abella's smile seemed shameless!

"How dare you say such things."

"Fine, even if you didn't put anything in the coffee, don't get cocky. You're only with Phillipe because Lola allowed it!"

"Don't think you're all that. Drop the attitude."

Abella was puzzled. 'Arrogant? Do they really think I'm that capable? Haven't I been low-key enough?'

"Phillipe was given to me by Lola?" Abella looked at the girls with interest. "Is that what she told you?"

"She didn't say anything, don't try to trick us!"

The girls, united against Abella, stayed silent.

Abella leaned back and said lazily, "Then you might be mistaken. Even without me, Phillipe wouldn't be with her."

"You're lying!" Vivian was the first to refute.

"Lying?" Abella raised an eyebrow. "Do you have proof?"

"Vivian, just tell her what Lola told you!"

"Yeah, let's show her we know the truth. Stop pretending."

"Lola told you to keep it a secret, so let me do the talking. What I say is none of your business," Cathy said.

"Let Cathy say it."

Cathy Stewart looked at Abella and spoke confidently, "Henry pursued Lola persistently and won her over, so Lola gave up on Phillipe to be with Henry. Isn't that right?"

Cathy looked at Abella, sure of herself.

Abella suddenly laughed. "Is that what Lola told you? Who would give up the world's richest man for another guy? Would you?"

The girls hesitated, knowing they wouldn't.

"But Lola said the higher Phillipe's public approval, the more scrutinized the woman beside him would be. She didn't want to live her life wearing a perfect mask. With Henry, she could be herself."

"You believe that?" Abella smiled, feeling sorry for them being deceived by Lola.

"Lola was determined to break up, threatening Phillipe with never seeing him again. Phillipe was scared. He liked her but had his pride. He thought Lola and Henry moved too fast, so he reluctantly found you and flaunted you in front of everyone."

"In reality, he wanted to show Lola that he could have any woman he wanted. That's why he, usually low-key, brought you to the Bourbon Group."

"He did it for Lola, not because he liked you. Compared to Lola, you're nothing!"

Abella didn't expect Lola to fabricate such a lie and laughed even more.

Her smile was bright and beautiful, like the winter sun, warming the entire evening.

"Why are you laughing?" The girls felt less confident.

Abella's smile seemed to mock them.

"Phillipe knew Vivian's mother was the deputy director of procurement and that Vivian was Lola's good friend, yet he still brought you to the Bourbon Group."

"This shows he still loves Lola. You're just a substitute!"

"If Lola hadn't threatened Phillipe with never seeing him again, he wouldn't have settled for you."

Abella laughed even more. "Why don't you ask why I'm in this garden?"

"Yeah, why are you here?"
