Chapter 875 I Just Killed Him
At 8 PM, Abella and Theo arrived at the auction.
"Which one is Cruz?" Abella whispered to Theo, who was sitting next to her.
With hundreds of people in the audience and dim lighting, it was hard to spot anyone.
"I heard he's really after the 'Moonshade Herb.' The guy who bids aggressively for it will be him," Theo replied, then asked curiously, "Ms. Medici, what is Moonshade Herb? What's it used for?"
Such a strange name, he had never heard of it before.
Abella's eyes darkened. "It's for boosting kidney function. Do you need it?"
"Why would I need that? My kidneys are fine!" Theo said, then couldn't help but wonder, "There are so many kidney supplements on the market. Why does he have to buy that one? And from the black market, no less..."
"That herb, combined with other drugs, can make a man stronger overnight. But it's harmful to the body, addictive, and banned. It's like those other illegal drugs." Abella replied.
Theo got the gist. No wonder it had to be bought on the black market; it had that kind of effect.
How did Abella know all this? She was amazing.
Just then, the auction began.
The first item was a piece of porcelain, dug up by grave robbers. It was shady and didn't attract much interest, with only a few bids.
The second item was the Moonshade Herb. Since few people knew what it was for, there were even fewer bids. In the end, someone bought it for $28,000.
The bidder was a man sitting at the back of the audience. He wore a worn-out hat and dressed like a laborer, looking quite unremarkable.
"$28,000 for that thing..." Theo clearly thought it was a waste.
Abella stood up and followed, whispering, "If that thing is made into the drug I mentioned, it could make millions."
"What did you say?" Theo's eyes widened in disbelief, then he added, "But he doesn't look like someone who can make drugs."
"Can't he have a team? Or sell it at a high price to other drug dealers?" Abella walked down a side path, leaving the audience area.
Perhaps to avoid attention, Cruz left through the back door right after the auction.
The back door led to a field of tall grass, with no streetlights, looking dark and eerie.
As soon as Cruz stepped out, he saw several people standing up from the grass, pointing guns at him.
Louie had brought his men to capture him.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Cruz didn't know who they were, but he sensed danger and tried to run.
But Abella and Theo quickly arrived behind him.
"Take him down," Louie ordered, and his men moved forward.
Seeing someone trying to grab Cruz, Abella immediately took hold of him.
"You again?" Louie didn't expect to see this woman everywhere. "Are you guys working together?"
Last time in Netherhaven, Abella had disrupted the boxing match, allowing Cruz to escape.
Now, she had Cruz in her grasp. Were they really working together?
"Who are you?" Cruz struggled against Abella's grip, surprised by the strength of this teenage girl. She was definitely not ordinary!
"Ms. Medici, what do we do..." Theo hadn't expected another group to want Cruz, too. The problem was, they were outnumbered and outgunned, but they were unarmed.
At that moment, more of Louie's men poured out from the auction, surrounding them from all sides.
"Ms. Medici, maybe we should let them have him and try again next time..." Theo suggested, seeing no easy way out.
"Your friend has the right idea," Louie smirked. "But tonight, none of you are getting away."
He'd been looking for her for two days, and now she had walked right into his trap.
Tonight, he would capture her too!
"Such a coward, yet you dare to talk tough." Abella threw Cruz to Theo and quickly attacked.
Louie didn't expect to be disrespected by a young girl. Last time, he had held back out of respect for her being a girl. This time, he would reclaim his dignity!
He quickly engaged, and the two fought fiercely. Seeing Cruz in Theo's hands, the others moved in. "Hand him over."
"Ms. Medici..." Theo swallowed hard, realizing all eyes were on him. They formed a circle, with him at the center, closing in, guns aimed at him.
Even if he had wings now, they'd shoot him down.
After taking down Louie, Abella saw the others surrounding Theo. She grabbed Louie, took his gun, and pointed it at his head. "One step closer, and I'll kill him."
Everyone was stunned. Their agile Louie, now held like a chicken by a girl.
And Louie was injured, looking pitiful.
Louie's pride was shattered. He never imagined a girl could be so much stronger.
Last time, someone had thrown a smoke bomb, and she escaped. He hadn't really fought her. Now...
He realized there was always someone better.
He had underestimated Abella.
"Mr. Potts..." No one dared to move, fearing for Louie's life.
But Louie had courage. "Don't be afraid. She won't shoot. We must capture them all. What are you waiting for? Move!"
As soon as he spoke, Abella pressed the gun closer, even pulling the trigger slightly, exuding a cold aura.
"Buddy, I suggest you stop talking. Ms. Medici will really kill you..." Theo, holding Cruz, said sympathetically. "You'd better tell your men to back off. We just want this guy, we won't harm you."
"We're taking him." Louie had already messed up once. This time, he had to succeed. "Not just him, you two as well."
"Overconfident." Abella pulled the trigger, the bullet grazing his head, cutting through his hair.
Everyone was terrified, even Louie was shaken. Seeing strands of hair fall, Louie felt weak.
