Chapter 858 One of the Good Friends
"He ran off with his men."
'What? To make Dax flee with his gang... Ms. Medici must have hit him pretty hard... To scare Dax like that...' Theo thought to himself.
"Where's the stuff?" Abella asked.
"It's in the bag!" Theo said confidently. "I guarded it with my life. Don't worry, it's perfectly safe."
Abella felt a wave of relief and a touch of gratitude.
This medicine would be crucial for the upcoming research. Without it, the experiment couldn't proceed.
"Ms. Medici, how long will you be staying in Britonia this time?" Theo asked eagerly.
"Probably two or three days."
"That's it?" Theo wanted to stick around Abella. Only by her side did he feel his life had meaning and value.
"Do you want to go back home?" Abella seemed to read his mind and suddenly asked.
Theo was stunned for a second and asked expectantly, "Can I?"
"Go back for Christmas. Sam and Tony are often overwhelmed. From now on, you'll stay in the country to help me."
Theo was thrilled, "Thank you, Ms. Medici!"
He finally got the same treatment as Sam and Tony. He couldn't wait to brag to them. He was finally being entrusted with important tasks by Abella.
Just then, Abella's phone vibrated. She saw it was a video call from Phillipe.
"Abella, haven't you returned to the hotel yet?" Phillipe's seductive voice came through the video.
Theo's eyes widened. He never expected the cold and ruthless Phillipe to have such a gentle side in private.
"Almost there." Abella's voice softened a bit. She saw Phillipe wearing a white bathrobe, clearly just out of the shower, with his hair still wet. "Aren't you going to dry your hair?"
Phillipe deliberately left his hair wet, hoping to hear her concern. Now that his goal was achieved, he smiled warmly and wiped his hair with a towel. "My hair is short; it'll dry soon."
They were on a video call, and Phillipe didn't want the noise of the hairdryer to bother her.
Abella noticed his white bathrobe wasn't tied tightly, intentionally revealing a hint of his chest muscles, looking both sexy and mischievous.
"You're full of little tricks." Abella's tone carried a hint of affection.
"Do you miss me?" Phillipe asked again in his seductive voice.
Theo didn't expect their conversation to be so nauseating. He was waiting at a red light and couldn't help but choke on his water.
"A man's voice?" Phillipe heard the coughing. "A new subordinate?"
It wasn't Sam or Tony's voice. It was someone he didn't recognize.
"Good hearing." Abella saw Theo waiting at the red light and turned the camera towards him, giving a brief introduction. "Theo. Phillipe."
"Hi, Mr. Bourbon..." Theo never thought he'd get to see Phillipe up close in his lifetime. The key was, with the coldness gone from his eyes, Phillipe looked even more handsome and approachable.
"Hello." Phillipe's voice was more formal, not as seductive as before, but still carried a hint of warmth. Theo knew this warmth was because of Abella.
"Abella didn't get hurt tonight?" Phillipe asked softly.
"No... Ms. Medici is very skilled. She fought alone..."
"Keep your eyes on the road," Abella said, turning the camera back to herself.
"A fight?" Phillipe's tone was filled with concern. "Are you hurt?"
"No." To ease his worry, Abella added, "Just a few insignificant people."
Theo was shocked. Abella called that 300-pound muscle fighter insignificant? And Dax's dozens of men...
"Didn't you say this trip was safe, just picking up some stuff and meeting a client?" Phillipe worried. "What happened? Should I send the C Gang to help?"
Theo's eyes widened in shock. Was he too out of the loop, or had Abella not announced it? Phillipe was part of the C Gang... And to be able to command the C Gang, could Phillipe be... the leader?
Realizing this possibility, Theo was stunned. He never imagined Abella would be involved with someone from the C Gang...
"Everything's settled tonight." Abella picked up the bag beside her to show. "Got everything."
"Is the rest of the trip dangerous?" Phillipe asked.
"Very safe."
"Don't lie to me."
"Really, just designing some clothes for the client. Once I'm done, I'll head back. You handle things in Verdania and don't worry about here."
At this moment, Theo wished he were invisible. He never expected Abella and Phillipe to care for each other like this. It was his first time seeing two fearsome leaders show such a different side in private.
Abella chatted with Phillipe for a few more minutes until the car reached the hotel entrance, then she ended the video call.
"Ms. Medici, I'll escort you up."
Before Abella could refuse, Theo had already gotten out to open the car door for her, holding her bag protectively.
After Abella returned to the presidential suite, Theo, still worried, reminded her, "Ms. Medici, I don't know if those people will find this place tonight. The wall lamp behind the sofa can be turned, and you'll see a fire escape... If there's any danger, call me immediately. Don't face it alone."
Abella smiled. "Got it."
"Then, Ms. Medici, I won't disturb your rest." Theo closed the door for her.
It was almost 1 AM. Abella took a shower and quickly fell asleep.
The next morning, Abella received several messages, one of which was from a good friend.
Saskia: [Abella, are you in Britonia? I heard a young girl caused trouble at Dax's place last night and knocked out a fighter. I guessed it was you, right?]
The message was from Saskia Fuller, one of Abella's good friends.
Abella replied: [It was me.]
Saskia called her, and after hearing the story, she couldn't help but get angry. "These bad guys need a lesson. Last time I saw someone push an old man onto the stage at another underground place, I trashed their venue too."
Bullying the weak and elderly was the worst.
"These people will do anything for money, treating people like they're nothing." Saskia's voice was filled with righteous anger.
Abella smiled, "What have you been up to lately?"
