Chapter 1068 I Am Happy
As expected, Abella's words completely enraged Isla. Isla's knife came down hard, but just in the nick of time, Abella turned and bent over, causing the knife to cut through the rope behind her.
With the rope severed, she quickly stepped forward to avoid the knife's momentum from injuring her back.
Isla hadn't anticipated that Abella's earlier weakness was all an act. She swung the knife again.
Abella shifted her position once more, and this time, the knife cut through another rope binding her.
Just as everyone was about to pull the trigger on her, Abella snatched Isla's knife and held it to Isla's throat, using her as a human shield.
Everyone froze, not daring to make a move.
Isla's eyes widened in disbelief. "You... you were poisoned."
How could she still be so fast?
"Release the people upstairs," Abella demanded, her face pale but her presence as commanding as ever.
"Don't listen to her," Isla shouted. "She's a law-abiding citizen; she won't kill anyone."
Abella pressed the knife deeper, drawing blood from Isla's neck.
"I have no patience," Abella's voice was as cold as ice. "I'll count to ten. One..."
Someone had already started running towards the third floor.
"Two," Abella continued, her face stern. "Three..."
"Abella!" Isla tried to intimidate her. "Killing someone means you'll pay with your life. You've finally returned to the Medici family and become the Medici family's heiress. Are you really going to throw it all away for me?"
"One less pest like you won't affect my life," Abella's voice was as chilling as a winter's day. "If anything, it means fewer threats and a higher happiness index."
By the time she counted to ten, the person had reached the third floor, panting heavily, but before they could press the switch, Abella's knife had already slashed Isla's arm.
Isla screamed in pain, trembling all over, unable to believe Abella would actually harm her.
The knife was back at Isla's throat, Abella's voice still cold. "I'll count to ten again. If you don't release the people this time, it'll be your neck."
Isla was terrified. She knew Abella meant what she said and couldn't help but urge, "Hurry up and release her !"
"One," Abella started counting again.
"Why are you counting so fast?" Isla was already scared.
The main switch was flipped, and the rope gently lowered Lauren to the ground.
Abella had reached six. Several henchmen rushed forward to untie Lauren, and by the time Abella counted to ten, Lauren was free of her ropes.
"She's here. Now, can you let me go?"
As soon as Isla finished speaking, Abella slashed her other hand, her eyes coldly scanning the dozens of henchmen. "Where's my phone?"
Isla was in so much pain she nearly passed out. "If you wanted your phone, you could've just said so. Why did you have to cut me?"
"Because I felt like it."
Isla was speechless.
A henchman tossed Abella's phone to her. Isla had hoped to escape while Abella caught the phone, but Abella's movements were swift. In less than two seconds, she had pocketed the phone.
"Put Lauren in the car," Abella ordered, her voice firm.
Isla's eyes widened as she realized Abella planned to escape with Lauren. Meanwhile, the poison in Abella's body caused her to cough up blood again.
"Abella, you won't get away. Look at yourself," Isla taunted.
Abella grabbed Isla's throat with one hand and pointed the knife at her heart with the other. "Did I ask for your opinion?"
Isla was too scared to speak.
Abella dragged her backward step by step.
One of the henchmen saw an opportunity. Since both of Abella's hands were in front of Isla, if he could hit her hand, he could save Isla!
Thinking this, the henchman quickly pulled the trigger, but Abella dodged and slashed Isla's arm again.
"Don't test my patience," Abella warned, her voice icy.
Isla's frustration boiled over. She yelled at the henchman, "Can't you shoot properly? Trying to get me killed?"
The henchman quickly lowered his head, surprised by Abella's quick reaction.
"Lauren's in the car," Another henchman reported.
"Give me the car keys," Abella demanded.
The henchman immediately tossed the keys to Abella.
Abella caught them and threw Isla onto the car's windshield, stabbing the knife into Isla's left leg, avenging Joanna.
Isla curled up in pain.
Abella got into the car and quickly reversed. Several henchmen tried to shoot her, but Isla blocked their view.
It wasn't until Abella had backed up to a safe distance and turned the car around that Isla was thrown off.
Several henchmen rushed to help her.
They didn't want Isla to die yet; she hadn't paid them their final fee.
"Why are you standing around? Go catch that bitch!" Isla was furious.
Many henchmen immediately got into their cars to chase her.
Bullets hit Abella's car.
Lauren, lying in the back seat, weakly opened her eyes and saw Abella wiping blood from her mouth, her hand on the steering wheel red and painful to look at.
Tears blurred Lauren's vision. She felt she had burdened Abella.
Anyone else would have abandoned her and escaped alone.
But Abella hadn't forgotten her. Despite her injuries, she was taking her servant with her.
In the vast wilderness, Abella's car sped ahead, followed by seven or eight white cars, bullets frequently hitting her vehicle.
The intense poison made Abella cough up blood again.
The pain tore at her nerves and sanity, causing her car to wobble and slow down.
Everyone knew she was close to her limit!
They accelerated, bullets hitting Abella's silver car even more furiously.
At the edge of the city and Empire Vista City, another group arrived, twenty black cars loyally following a leading Bugatti Veyron.
In the driver's seat of the Bugatti Veyron sat a distinguished, cold man.
He saw a silver car approaching, driven by a girl whose driving was shaky, unlike her usual skill.
Was she injured?
Behind her car, seven or eight white cars were chasing her relentlessly.
Phillipe immediately drove the Bugatti Veyron forward to shield the girl's car, his ca,r and his henchmen's cars forming a line.
