Chapter 603 I'll Listen to You
Vanessa's eyes welled up with tears of excitement. "The second time."
Abella looked puzzled.
"The first time, you saved me by the roadside." Vanessa's emotions were intense, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I remember you; it was you who saved me back then."
So many cars passed by, but only Abella stopped to help.
Vanessa recalled feeling weak, barely able to open her eyes, dizzy and uncomfortable from lack of oxygen.
But Abella's presence was like a breath of fresh air, making her feel better and brightening her vision.
Abella was stunning, much like Kimberly in her youth, but with even more presence and beauty.
Abella's gaze softened, surprised Vanessa remembered her.
"No wonder my mom said she saw a girl who looked like me," Kimberly realized. "Turns out she was talking about Abella."
"Your mom misses everyone," Beckett said with a smile. "Mom, we're so happy you woke up."
"Yes, Abella saved you again," James added with a smile. "Including this time, she's saved you four times."
"Four times?" Vanessa was puzzled. She thought it was only twice.
James explained, "The first time was by the roadside. The second was when she diagnosed you and gave you a list of medications. The third was when Kimberly told you about the mix-up with the children, and you fainted. The fourth was just now."
Vanessa was surprised her granddaughter had saved her four times.
"You don't know, she's the famous Abbott, a top medical authority," James said, leaving Vanessa even more shocked.
The name Abbott had come up many times during her search for treatment. She didn't expect this renowned figure to be her granddaughter.
"Abella's medical skills are advanced; she's confident she can cure you," James said, astonishing Vanessa further. She knew how serious her condition was.
"Really?" Vanessa looked at Abella, incredulous, waiting for an answer.
Everyone around was smiling, including her grandsons.
"Grandma, you may not trust other doctors, but Abella's skills are well recognized."
"If she says she can do it, there will be no problem."
"Don't be fooled by her age; she knows a lot."
"Once you spend more time with her, you'll see she's something special."
"Alright, let your grandma chat with Abella," Kimberly instructed.
Vanessa didn't expect her grandsons to praise Abella so highly; it seemed they had been getting along well.
"Are you studying medicine?" Vanessa asked.
"I learned from an elder," Abella said gently. "I wouldn't claim to bring the dead back to life, but treating common illnesses is no problem."
"Are you still in school now?" Vanessa asked.
"Speaking of school, Abella is the only person in recent years to get a perfect score on the SAT! Many top universities wanted her, but she chose Medical University."
"She's now a freshman there, and the school gives her special privileges, letting her attend classes as she wishes."
"She's not just great in her studies but also in her talents. Last time, she led a team in a competition against other top schools and made quite a splash."
"In short, Abella's achievements are too many to list."
Her grandsons couldn't stop praising Abella.
Vanessa was amazed at how outstanding her newly discovered granddaughter was. Looking at Abella's sweet and beautiful face, her eyes welled up again.
"I heard from Margaret that you've been through a lot these past eighteen years," Vanessa said, her heart aching.
"It's okay, it's all in the past," Abella said simply, brushing off the hardships.
Vanessa felt her maturity and grace from that sentence. Truly a good child.
She held Abella's hand tightly. "It's good that you're back. Fate has been kind, bringing you back to the Medici family. From now on, we won't let you suffer anymore."
"It's not hard."
"If there's anything you're not used to at home, just let us know."
"Everything is fine."
"Abella is very easygoing; she doesn't fuss about anything," Winston said with a smile. "She won't ask for anything, and when we try to give her things, she thinks it's a waste."
"Exactly, she always wants to save money for us."
"As I said, her merits can't be fully described in a short time."
Kimberly felt gratified listening to her sons talk about Abella, such a sensible and obedient child.
"I haven't had time to prepare a gift for you, but in a few days, it will be Christmas Eve."
Before Vanessa could finish, Blake chuckled. "Grandma, Christmas Eve has long passed; it's already Christmas now."
"You mean it's Christmas now?" Vanessa was surprised time had flown by so quickly.
Abella smiled. "Grandma, you waking up is the best gift for me. Money and material things are secondary. My parents, Uncle James, and my brothers have already given me a lot."
"That's different!" Vanessa insisted. "My sentiment can't be mixed with theirs. Let me think carefully about what to give you."
She really started to rack her brains.
"You should rest first. Abella has been busy with your illness these past two days," Kimberly said with a smile. "If you rest, everyone can rest."
After all, for Abella to be here, she must have given up a lot of work to balance things.
If Vanessa could recover quickly, Abella would have one less worry.
"Since you're awake, shall I feed you some medicine?" Abella asked Aimee to bring the medicine from the kitchen.
"Today is Christmas; can I skip the medicine?" Vanessa could smell it from afar.
Since she got sick, she had been taking various medicines and was tired of them.
"This medicine is good for your health," Abella said, gently persuading her.
Vanessa remembered that Abella had written the prescription, so she endured it. "Okay, I'll listen to you."
"Here, drink slowly." Abella fed her spoon by spoon.
Lola, on the side, didn't expect them to get along so naturally and harmoniously.
