Chapter 699 Afraid to Speak

After chowing down, Abella and Bonnie bounced outta the restaurant and hit the elevator to the lobby on the first floor.

It was dumping snow outside.

Right then, Bonnie's phone buzzed, and she sounded kinda ticked. "Didn't I tell you not to let her go?"

Leon on the other end was floored. He thought roughing up Lola was enough, but Bonnie wasn't having it.

"My bad! I'll go snag her back right now."

"Drop me the address." Bonnie's words made Leon realize she was gonna handle this herself!

Meanwhile, after getting roughed up, Lola heard those goons leave and scrambled outta the sack, freaked out.

Serenity Lane was a ghost town, empty as far as she could see.

Under the streetlights, snow was coming down hard. Lola, scared outta her mind, spotted her bag nearby. She painfully crawled over and, with shaky hands, fished out her phone.

Terrified and a mess, she knew only one person in all of Verdania could save her!

She found Caleb's number and hit dial.

In seconds, Caleb's calm voice came through. "Lola."

Lola broke down, sobbing. "Uncle Caleb, someone messed with me!"

Caleb's voice got serious real quick. "What happened? Where are you? Who did this?"

Lola cried for a bit before getting up, desperate to bail from this nightmare. "Send someone to pick me up at Hillside Avenue."

If she could just get to Hillside Avenue, she'd be safe. Lots of people there, and those jerks wouldn't dare pull anything in front of everyone.

"You're in Verdania? Alright, I'm close. I'll come get you myself."

After hanging up, Lola wiped her cold tears, still crying, then stumbled and shivered as she walked forward.

Meanwhile, a fleet of cars rolled up in front of Bonnie and Abella. Bonnie grabbed an umbrella from a bodyguard and held it for Abella herself.

"Abella, you head back first. I got some business to handle," Bonnie said.

"Okay." Abella didn't pry. After hopping in the car, she looked at Bonnie. "Come back soon."

"Okay." Bonnie gave her a loving pat on the head before shutting the car door.

After watching Abella leave in the main car, Bonnie casually slid into a bodyguard's car, checked the address Leon sent, and coldly said, "Head to Serenity Lane."

Just now, after getting Bonnie's orders, Leon and his crew rushed back to grab Lola. Lola was just about to leave Serenity Lane when they gagged her again and stuffed a rag in her mouth.

A big sack covered her upper body, and they tied it tight.

The familiar terror hit Lola hard. She struggled, but it was no use.

She couldn't figure out why they came back. The despair and panic made her shiver and cry non-stop.

Weirdly, they dragged her to the middle of the alley and then just stopped.

Until a car pulled up at the alley entrance.

Lola heard it and her tear-filled eyes lit up with hope. 'Is it Caleb coming to save me? Caleb said he'd be here soon.'

The car door opened, and a bodyguard held an umbrella. Bonnie, looking like a mix of icy elegance and boss-level dominance, walked in, all noble and captivating.

As the footsteps got closer, Lola's fear spiked. 'Why do I hear high heels? Isn't it supposed to be Caleb? Abella doesn't rock heels, so who the heck is this?'

Lola's heart sank, dread and unease washing over her. She felt totally screwed.

"Mrs. Harris," Leon, the leader, bowed his head and called out, "She's here."

Bonnie shot a cold glance at the sack, extended her hand, and stayed silent.

Leon got the hint and handed her a stick.

Bonnie brought the stick down hard, and Lola inside the sack screamed in pain, writhing and struggling on the ground like a wounded, panicked bug.

As Bonnie beat Lola, her cold eyes stayed stunningly beautiful, making her look fierce and bold.

After seven or eight hard whacks, Lola inside the sack wasn't struggling as much, her voice weak, her body twitching feebly.

Just then, another fancy car pulled up at the alley entrance, and a bodyguard opened the door for Caleb.

From a distance, Caleb saw Bonnie holding a stick, beating someone inside a sack.

None of the goons dared to make a sound, just standing there silently.

In the heavy snow, Bonnie, rocking a red coat, looked both bossy and flamboyant.

He walked over, took the umbrella from the bodyguard, and held it for Bonnie himself. "Who ticked you off?"

If he hadn't been heading to Hillside Avenue to pick up Lola and passed by here, spotting the familiar license plate, he wouldn't have known Bonnie was here beating someone.

Bonnie tossed the stick aside indifferently and said, "She messed with Abella again and again. Don't you think she deserves a beating?"

Caleb glanced at the sack on the ground. The person inside had a half-length skirt, white long socks, and snow boots exposed, looking filthy.

"What are you doing here?" Bonnie looked up at Caleb and then at the person on the ground. "Do you know her?"

Caleb didn't recognize the outfit at all. "I heard Lola came to Verdania. I was gonna pick her up."

"Lola?"

Caleb nodded and looked at the person on the ground, thinking it was more important to deal with the current situation.

Few people could make Bonnie this mad.

He asked gently, "What did this person do to Abella?"

"Abella liked a dress, and she kept trying to take it. When I wasn't around, she poured champagne on Abella." Bonnie said this, still fuming, and kicked the sack a few more times.

Lola inside the sack never expected that the person kicking her would be Bonnie.

She also didn't expect that the people who sacked her and grabbed her twice were Bonnie's crew.

Turns out Bonnie had ordered her goons to do this.

It had nothing to do with Abella.

At this moment, Caleb was standing right next to her, but she didn't dare to ask for help.

If Caleb knew nothing, she could still lie and slander Abella, but now, Bonnie had already trashed her first.

Caleb already knew she had bullied Abella first.

"Looks like beating her once is too soft." Caleb looked at the sack on the ground, his eyes cold in the wind and snow.

Abella had only been in Verdania for two days, and someone dared to mess with her on their turf?

"Twice." Bonnie corrected indifferently. "Once by Leon and his men, and once by me."

Bonnie coldly looked at Lola on the ground. "So, should we set her on fire or toss her into the sea?"
