Chapter 648 Be Prepared for Both Scenarios
"No way!" Maria said, worried. "Remember last time? Mr. Steven Medici sweet-talked you into thinking they'd treat everyone equally. If he really saw you as a sister, he wouldn't have warned you or locked you up today."
Lola gave a bitter smile. If people knew Steven had locked her up for self-reflection, she'd be mortified.
Maria continued, "I told you to either kick Abella out while they still cared about you, get the best deal from the Medici family, or make Mr. Bourbon fall for you and become super rich. But you chose the worst option: trying to get along with Abella and please everyone."
Lola finally realized how naive she'd been, thinking she could be real sisters with Abella.
"If I'd listened to you, things wouldn't be this bad. I was stubborn, always hoping Steven and the others could be fair."
"If they were fair, Steven wouldn't have planted roses on Abella's balcony before talking to you."
That was so unlike Steven!
If he were fair, why did Abella get flowers and Lola didn't?
He claimed everything Abella got was something Lola had over the past eighteen years, like flowers and four-leaf clover necklaces, but Lola never got any of those.
Lola cried for what felt like forever. For the first time, she realized her tears were endless.
Her heart was truly shattered and filled with despair.
Maria sneered, "Growing up rich, she still has such bad taste. Even after returning to the richest family, her tacky preferences haven't changed! Every time I see those roses on her balcony, I think she's tasteless, shallow, and cheap. The Medici family's garden full of rare flowers is ruined by her!"
Lola agreed. 'Of all things, why roses? Such a trashy choice.'
After Lola calmed down, Maria gave her some advice. "Ms. Medici, there are many online platforms now that buy luxury goods at high prices. Your wardrobe is full of clothes, shoes, and purses, many still with tags. You could sell them for at least twenty million dollars."
Some dresses cost over two hundred thousand dollars, and Lola only wore them once.
Some limited-edition purses cost one hundred and fifty thousand dollars, and Lola used them once before they gathered dust in her wardrobe.
"If you marry Mr. Hall, you'll have a driver. All those luxury cars will be useless, so you might as well sell them."
Selling them could easily bring in twenty million dollars, just from the cars!
"And all the jewelry you've received since you were a kid."
Those are worth a lot.
Just the pink sapphire necklace she got when she was born is now worth over four million dollars.
If she kept a few pieces and sold the rest, twenty million dollars wouldn't be a problem.
"Preliminary estimates suggest selling everything could bring in one hundred and twenty million dollars."
Lola was surprised Maria knew more about her stuff's value than she did.
"Ms. Medici, I'm not trying to upset you, but if Steven can do this, he might kick you out later. Better to sell these things now than be broke later."
At least Lola would have one hundred and twenty million in the bank. With her properties and other assets, her net worth could easily hit two hundred million.
"Of course, that's the worst-case scenario. If you get Steven's forgiveness and stay in the family, when you marry Mr. Hall, you'll get a dowry. Mr. Beckett Medici and Mrs. Medici said your dowry would be more than Sophia's sister's. If it's two hundred million, your total worth would be over four hundred million! And if Mr. Hall gives you money and shares as a betrothal gift, imagine how much you'd be worth then."
It was mind-blowing!
After hearing Maria, Lola's tears stopped, stuck in her eyes.
She didn't realize her assets were worth so much.
"So, we need to find a way to stay in the Medici family, make Mr. Beckett Medici and Mrs. Medici happy, and get them to buy you things. Then we can sell those things and make a lot of money."
Lola used to think Maria's idea was wrong. After all, these were gifts from her family, and she was reluctant to sell them.
But after Steven's cold behavior, she finally nodded. "After this incident, help me handle it. Be cautious."
"Ms. Medici, don't worry! Leave it to me. You just act like you don't know anything. If we get caught, I'll take the blame," Maria said, looking concerned. "But for now, you'll have to endure some hardships. You've never suffered like this before."
Lola's eyes reddened again, and her nose felt sour. "If they're heartless, don't blame me for being ruthless!"
Her weakness was only temporary.
Even if she had to leave this family, she'd take all the benefits and ruin Abella before she left!
Maria was happy to see Lola finally change but kept her composure. "They think Abella is so capable and their real daughter, so they treat her like a treasure. This is all Abella's fault. If she had spoken up when Steven blamed you today, things would be different!"
Lola sneered. 'Abella speak up for me? It'd be good if she didn't blame me! Maria's right; this is all Abella's fault. If Abella were easy to get along with, we could at least be sisters! Even being ordinary sisters would be better than enemies!'
Maria reminded, "In a few days, Steven will go abroad. The Wren family lost a child, so Mr. Beckett Medici and Mrs. Medici will often go there. It's time to deal with Abella."
Lola said, "But if something happens to Abella, Steven will suspect us first."
Maria added, "We're not going to kill her, just make her suffer a bit. I'll find someone to do it flawlessly. Without evidence, Steven can't blame us, right?"
