Chapter 678 Inside and Outside Cooperation

"Don't mess with them!" The dude in the silver mask, all freaked out about losing some key info, warned with a heavier tone, "These are the folks our boss wants. If you don't wanna kick the bucket, hand 'em over nice and easy."

Sam just smirked. "Who do you think your boss is? If our boss is feeling generous, he might let your boss live. If not, the only ones biting the dust will be you."

The guy in the silver mask couldn't believe someone would be this cocky in Verdania. Holding back his rage, he asked, "Mind telling me who your boss is?"

Sam didn't bother answering and just jumped into action, telling his crew, "Take 'em away. I got these clowns."

The silver mask dude was fuming at Sam's arrogance. Seeing his target being taken away, he yelled, "You must have a death wish!"

Jacques pulled up to the estate entrance. "Ms. Medici, it's getting late. You should get some rest."

"Thanks for the ride."

Abella got out of the car, and the security guard at the gate immediately opened it for her, "Ms. Medici."

"Still up this late?"

"On duty tonight."

Abella nodded. "Thanks for your hard work."

Inside the estate, a bunch of maids rushed over when they saw Abella. "Ms. Medici, dinner's ready. Please follow us."

Abella didn't expect the staff to be waiting for her so late, nor did she expect Caleb to have the chef whip up so many dishes, filling the table.

"Not sure what you like, Ms. Medici. If there's anything you want changed, just let me know," Margot, the chef, said kindly, "You can call me Margot."

"Ms. Medici, you can call me Charlotte." Charlotte, a bit on the plump side, smiled warmly.

Abella's gaze softened. "Did you make all this?"

"Yep."

"Please, Ms. Medici, have a taste."

"Thanks for your hard work." Abella glanced at the clock; it was already half-past twelve. "You should go rest now."

"We're not tired." Margot and Charlotte stood professionally to the side, waiting for Abella to taste and comment.

Abella forked a piece of fish, but paused just as she brought it to her lips.

The two chefs got a bit nervous. "Is it not to your taste, Ms. Medici? We can make it again."

Abella's gaze softened. "It smells great. Just reminded me of my mom. This fish tastes like home."

The two chefs sighed in relief, thinking Abella didn't like the food.

They watched as Abella ate.

"Everything's great, no changes needed." Abella wiped her lips with a napkin and grabbed her bag. "I'll leave the cleanup to you."

"No problem. Ms. Medici, please wash up and rest early."

"Okay, good night."

"Good night."

Abella went upstairs, suddenly holding onto the stair railing, standing still for a moment before continuing up.

At one-thirty in the morning, the light in Abella's bedroom went out.

After a while, several people quietly broke into her bedroom. In the dim moonlight, they saw Abella sleeping soundly on the bed, her long eyelashes down, looking as beautiful as a doll.

Several people pulled out knives, a murderous glint in their eyes, and stabbed towards her.

In a split second, Abella opened her eyes, quickly wrapped their knives with the blanket, and threw them aside.

Abella flicked on the light, and the whole room lit up like a Christmas tree.

Margot, Charlotte, and the four maids were caught off guard. Abella was just chilling, looking at them like she had all the time in the world.

How could this be? The drug they used was supposed to knock her out cold, like, ten times over.

Right now, Abella should be out like a light, not moving a muscle.

"Did you figure it out when you were eating the fish?" Margot asked, totally stunned.

Abella smirked. Drugging her? That was old news. Trying that on her was just plain dumb.

Abella said, "If I'm not wrong, you guys are Gregory's crew. He’s the one who brought you in."

That’s why she didn’t blow their cover at dinner and played along.

If she had called out the fish then, she’d only catch Margot and Charlotte.

But by playing along, she managed to expose the four maids too.

"Gregory got busted, and you knew Uncle Caleb would dig deep. So you wanted to take me out before he could act." She had guessed this might happen before she came back.

"How did you know Gregory had backup?" Margot asked, now super cautious.

"If someone wants to plant people on Uncle Caleb's side, they can't just put one person. There had to be someone to back Gregory up. I didn’t know if that person was inside or outside, but now I do."

"Abella, sometimes being too smart isn’t a good thing."

"Sometimes being overconfident isn’t either."

Abella moved fast. Margot barely blocked a few hits before getting struck in the heart.

He looked at Abella in shock, not expecting her to be so strong. The kicker was, she didn’t even use a weapon, but that punch made his heart hurt like hell.

Seeing this, Charlotte pulled out a small knife from her pocket. Before she could slash at Abella, Abella countered with a few moves, injuring her shoulder.

The four maids were no match for Abella either.

"Who are you really?" Charlotte asked through gritted teeth, clutching her bleeding shoulder.

Her skills were clearly from some serious training.

This reminded her of a legendary figure from years ago, but that person was old and no longer in the game.

Abella's skills were half like that guy’s, yet half different.

Charlotte thought, 'Who is she really? She can't just be some ordinary heiress.'

At that moment, Jacques showed up with two teams of bodyguards, splitting into two groups. The door was kicked open, and one team of bodyguards appeared in front of everyone, while the other team surrounded the whole villa, with some coming in through the balcony.

All exits were blocked.

"Jacques?" Margot and the others couldn’t believe Jacques had brought people. 'Did Abella tip him off?'

"Ms. Medici said someone poisoned her food and told me to bring people up when her room light turned on. So it was you traitors." Jacques waved his hand. "Take them away."

Charlotte sneered. Since they came to kill, they had prepared for everything!

She nodded to the others, and they all scattered white powder into the air.

The white powder floated down like snow.
