Chapter 400 Celebration

"Your knack for compliments is truly remarkable," she noted, marking yet another instance of praise he had received from her that day.

"Please, this isn't mere flattery," Abigail began, her voice trailing off as a passerby interrupted her. Despite the distraction, she managed to express her genuine admiration for Steven, whom she had just seen off from the company.

Once Steven had departed, Abigail quickly sent a message to her friend Abella via WhatsApp.

"Abella, I have a celebration tonight. Could you give me your opinion on whether this dress is suitable?" she asked.

Abella responded promptly, "What's the occasion?"

Abigail explained, her own uncertainty about the dress code evident in her voice. "It's a tradition my grandfather started. Whenever a new executive joins, the board members and shareholders host a welcome party."

Understanding the situation, Abella quickly approved of the dress. "Yes, that dress is perfect, absolutely spot on."

Abigail felt a surge of gratitude towards her friend. "Speaking of which, I owe you one," she admitted. "Without your connection, Mr. Medici wouldn't have given me a ride back to the States. He even showed up just in time to support me against the old-timers on the board... And he's even attending tonight's party. You have no idea how these events are all about the new CEO's network."

Abigail was, to put it mildly, astounded.

She was grateful that Mr. Medici had agreed to attend; otherwise, she would have been the laughingstock of the board once again.

After hearing Abigail's story, Abella responded gently, "I'll send Jack to represent QY Corporation tonight. I have some matters to attend to here."

Abigail began to protest, but Abella cut her off. "I know," she said, her smile widening. "He'll discuss a potential collaboration while you're there."

Another collaboration? Abigail was taken aback, then deeply moved. "Abella, your family is incredible... Mr. Medici mentioned a partnership, too. I mean, I know what my little conglomerate is worth, and it's nothing that should warrant your investment."

It was clear that friendship was the driving force behind Mr. Medici and Abella's support.

"You clinched third place. That's a significant achievement," Abella acknowledged, praising Abigail's success. "I have to go now, but if you need anything tonight, just reach out to my brother."

"Will do," Abigail responded.

After ending the call, Abella turned to the man beside her.

Although she and Phillipe had safely returned to the States, there were still forces at play, searching for her.

She didn't want to put Abigail in danger.

So, she couldn't show her face tonight.

At eight o'clock that evening, the celebration began in the penthouse of the New York Hotel.

Many shareholders and board members had arrived early, eager to witness any potential missteps by Abigail.

"Typical rookie, no sense of time... Look at us, a room full of board members and shareholders waiting on her... Acting as if she's some hotshot CEO."

"Ah, the youth of today, they have no idea. Let her strut all she wants, but if no one shows up to back her, let's see how high she can hold her head."

"Man, the New York skyline is breathtaking tonight... Only those at the top get to enjoy a view like this... truly unique."

Just then, someone murmured, "Ms. Parsons has arrived."

All eyes turned to see Abigail, stunning in a strapless dress with a bold color-block design. One side was the deepest black, exuding a cool aura, while the other was a soft blush pink, radiating feminine charm. The contrasting styles were strikingly beautiful.

Her black hair fell in a simple, yet pleasing style.

But behind her... there were no guests accompanying her.

The board members began to sneer. Some even approached her with frosty smiles.

"Ms. Parsons, you're alone? No friends?" One older woman, feigning concern, whispered, "If you're short on connections, let me know. I have a friend with a reputable clothing brand. They could certainly show you some support."

As she spoke, the woman took in Abigail's stunning figure, feeling a pang of dissatisfaction and envy.

"Ms. Miller, how can you speak like that? Ms. Parsons has just taken over the company. She hasn't had time to meet a lot of people..."

Before she had a chance to finish her sentence, an interruption came in the form of a voice.

"Apologies for my tardiness." A young man, impeccably dressed and radiating charisma, stepped forward, extending his hand in a polite gesture. "Ms. Parsons, my congratulations on your ascension to the helm of M Group. I have no doubt that under your leadership, the company will reach new heights."

Abigail was taken aback. She hadn't anticipated the arrival of Jack, the acting CEO of QY. With a grateful smile, she accepted his handshake. "I'm delighted you could make it to my humble celebration, Jack."

"The pleasure is mine," Jack responded, his gaze shifting towards Ms. Miller who had just spoken. "However, I couldn't help but overhear mention of a renowned clothing brand offering their support. Might I inquire as to which brand that might be?"

Ms. Miller was momentarily struck dumb, her mind racing. 'Jack, the CEO of QY, is here. It's well-known that he rarely makes public appearances, preferring to handle matters personally. Yet, here he is, standing up for Abigail. The company I mentioned was insignificant, intended only to embarrass Abigail, and yet Jack has brought it into the spotlight.'

"Ms. Miller," Abigail interjected, her eyes gleaming with curiosity. "Jack asked you about the company."

Caught off guard, the director fumbled for words. "I was merely... speaking hypothetically..."

Her friend's modest company, even M Group itself, couldn't hold a candle to QY. She wouldn't dare to brag in the presence of a true industry titan.

Jack, however, chose not to press the issue. With the effortless charm of a gentleman, he turned back to Abigail. "Mrs. Parsons, tonight is about celebrating your achievements. Let's save our business discussions for another day, shall we?"

"I concur. It would be an honor for M Group to collaborate with QY," Abigail replied, shaking his hand once more in gratitude.

The other executives and shareholders were left in a state of shock, struggling to comprehend that Abigail had managed to bring such an influential figure to their celebration. The reputation of QY in the fashion industry was legendary.

Meanwhile, another man was making his way towards them, his gaze lingering on the clasped hands of Abigail and Jack.

"Isn't that Steven from the Medici Group? He's here as well?"

"He swooped in to propose a partnership with M Group when they tried to oust Abigail at this afternoon's board meeting. Now, he's here supporting her. He seems to be taking a keen interest in her, doesn't he? Could he be attracted to her?"

"That's impossible! What could Abigail possibly have that would appeal to someone like him?"

"Mr. Medici isn't known for involving himself without good reason. If it's not her charm, perhaps he's interested in her talent?"

"Talent does seem like a plausible explanation..."
