Chapter 695 Caught in the Act
At Skyview Restaurant, the second Bonnie strutted in with Abella on her arm, they turned heads like nobody's business.
Bonnie was already drop-dead gorgeous, and being Caleb's wife just made her shine even brighter in the crowd.
Restaurant manager Bradley Ramsey spotted her and hustled over. "Mrs. Harris, long time no see! We've been on pins and needles since your last visit, worried we might've messed something up. So glad to see you today; it's a huge relief!"
"It's been a minute, Mr. Ramsey, and you're still the king of compliments," Bonnie grinned, knowing he was always a smooth talker and used to it by now.
Bradley chuckled. "Mrs. Harris, you're too kind. We really do care about your experience here. Since you don't come by often, I'll have the other guests moved and the place spruced up. Just give me a sec, Mrs. Harris, and this young lady."
"No need, we're here to eat, not to cause a scene. Just get us a table by the window," Bonnie said, keeping it chill.
"That would be too much trouble for Mrs. Harris and this young lady." Bradley looked a bit uneasy.
"What, can't handle it?" Bonnie's tone got a bit sharp.
"No, no, I can handle it right away. Mrs. Harris, Miss, please follow me." Bradley was almost shaking in his boots from her vibe and quickly led the way.
Bonnie glanced at Abella, her eyes and smile softening. "You can still catch the city's night view from the window."
"Yeah, I think so too." Abella agreed, thinking it was overkill to boot other guests.
Bonnie looked at her with a hint of admiration and approval.
Bradley pulled out chairs for them and stood respectfully to the side. "Would Mrs. Harris like the usual, or wanna try something new from our menu?"
"Let my niece order first." Bonnie slightly raised her chin, looking both classy and cool.
Bradley then realized who the girl was—Caleb and Bonnie's niece?
He'd been slacking!
Bradley added, "I didn't know Mrs. Harris' niece was here. This setup is too basic. I see the tables nearby are almost done. How about I move those guests and add some glass partitions so you and your niece can chat without any hassle?"
"No need," Bonnie and Abella said in unison, clearly not wanting to bother others.
Bradley didn't expect them to be so in sync and quickly said, "Then I'll make sure to send a few extra dishes. I really didn't mean to overlook you two today!"
"Abella, see if there's anything you wanna eat?" Bonnie's gaze fell on Abella across the table.
She was fresh and elegant, with a stunning face and a graceful vibe.
A bunch of rich young guys around were checking her out.
No wonder she was from the Medici family; her looks and demeanor were top-notch.
"Just these few." Abella ordered from the tablet and handed it back to Bradley.
"What about you, Mrs. Harris?" Bradley asked.
"No need, my niece ordered for both of us." Bonnie looked at Abella again and started chatting with her.
Meanwhile, the ever-dapper Henry was chilling in the priciest hotel suite in Verdania, having a spat with his sister. He handed her a glass of water. "Melanie, take a sip first."
"Henry, I'm dead serious about this!" Melanie Hall snapped, "I've never stopped you from doing anything before. Whenever Mom and Dad were against something, I always had your back! But today, if I hadn't been shopping on Riviera Avenue with some friends, I wouldn't have known that the girl you're into is such a piece of work in private!"
Henry's brow furrowed. "Melanie, let's keep it civil."
"Civil? As the daughter of the richest family in the country, raised by Beckett and Kimberly, she ordered the sales clerk to snatch dresses from other girls not once, but twice. Then, when she ran into someone with more clout, she got booted out of the store."
"Melanie," Henry cut in, "She saw something she liked and wanted to buy it. The sales clerk messed up by taking the dress from another customer."
"Henry! Are you even listening? Lola deliberately wanted to snatch the dress and ordered the sales clerk to do it." Melanie was fuming. "And the person she ticked off must have some serious connections. None of the stores on Riviera Avenue would sell her anything, so she stood outside, cursing the sales clerk, calling them lowly!"
Melanie felt embarrassed to even repeat that last part; it was so trashy!
She had seen Lola curse the sales clerk with her own eyes and then smile like she was proud of it.
"Do you know what my friends said? They said she's not a good girl, she's unreasonable, and low-class! Lola even kept saying, 'Do you know who I am? Do you know how much I spent at the last store? Do you know who Beckett Medici is?'"
Lola was just a disgrace!
Hearing this, Henry realized Lola hadn't mentioned his name? He figured he needed to step up his game to make sure Lola wouldn't face such crap again.
"You're the only son, and the family business will be yours one day. You know what Mom and Dad want—they want a virtuous and capable daughter-in-law, not someone like Lola!"
"Melanie, I get what you're saying," Henry glanced at the time and said calmly, "You should head back now. This convo is over."
Melanie was stunned. "What? You still want to be with her? I heard you have a bunch of important stuff to do back home this week, but because she wanted to come to Verdania, you dropped everything to tag along, and she hasn't even come to see you yet. What are you thinking?"
"She wanted to shop alone, and I respect that. I also have some matters to handle here in Verdania."
"Who are you kidding? Your company here is already running smoothly. At most, you come to check in. What serious business do you have to handle? Don't think I don't know what you're up to!"
Seeing she couldn't sway him, Melanie crossed her arms and said angrily, "If Mom and Dad find out, they definitely won't approve of you two being together."
"If neither of us tells them, how will they know?" Henry looked up at Melanie.
Melanie was livid. Her brother had always been the golden boy, with top grades, good looks, smarts, and integrity. How could he be so stubborn about Lola?
What was so great about Lola?
"Don't expect me to cover for you. If this gets to Mom and Dad and they ask for my opinion, I won't back you up this time!" Melanie glared at him and stormed out.
