Chapter 762 The Backer Has Arrived
"I am." That tiny sentence left everyone in the room totally floored.
Sure, they had a hunch Abella wasn't just some regular Jane, but no one thought she'd be the big boss!
Word on the street was that the main line of Beauty Skincare Group was her brainchild.
And she was so young, already whipping up skincare products?
Her skin was flawless, glowing in the sunlight, making her look drop-dead gorgeous.
No one could tell if it was her own products or if she splurged on some high-end stuff to get that look.
The curly-haired chick was dumbstruck for a moment before she gritted her teeth and asked, "Are you really the top dog at Beauty Skincare Group?"
Celine, standing next to her, backed her up, "Absolutely."
The crowd was stunned again, and the cameras kept flashing. But Abella? She was cool as a cucumber. Her eyes stayed calm and collected, like she wasn't fazed at all.
With her poise and smarts, she was definitely the head honcho.
"Since you say you're the boss of Beauty Skincare Group, tell me, my face is wrecked, what are you gonna do about it? Your company, just to make a buck, uses our faces as cash cows? In front of all these reporters, you better give us some answers today!"
Other folks started chiming in too.
"Your stuff is crazy expensive. I even took out online loans to look better, and now my face is trashed because of your products!"
"You're so young and already so shady. Why'd you sell us junk products?"
"Did you use our money to keep your own skin looking good?"
The reporters were eating it up, knowing this juicy story would blow up online.
The Beauty Skincare Group scandal was already trending.
This showdown between the customers and the exec was gonna make it even hotter.
"One at a time." Abella calmly looked at the curly-haired woman. "Which of our products messed up your face? Got any proof?"
"It was your whitening mask! I bought it from your store in mid-December, and I still have the receipt." The curly-haired woman handed the receipt to Abella.
Abella glanced at it and asked Celine, "How long do we keep our store's surveillance records?"
"Six months."
"And the order history?"
"Forever."
The curly-haired woman's face twisted in anger. "What are you saying? You think I didn't buy your product? Or that this receipt is fake?"
"If you want answers, we gotta check everything." Abella told Celine, "Look into December 15th, see if this receipt matches our sales records, and if this lady was in our store."
Before she could finish, the curly-haired woman cut in, "I was busy that day, so my friend bought it for me."
"Then check her friend too."
"What are you implying? That my friend isn't really my friend, or that my friend wants to screw me over? You're not the cops, what right do you have to investigate my friend? This is nuts!"
"Relax. Some things will be handed over to the cops to make sure everything's legit."
"Trying to scare us with the cops, huh?" The curly-haired woman's words fired up the other victims.
They all started laying into Abella.
"This is a huge deal, and Beauty Skincare Group hasn't even said sorry! Instead, they keep doubting us! We were fools to trust your products!"
"Not a single apology, seeing our faces wrecked like this, and you don't even flinch!"
"I bet it's not just the products; there's something seriously wrong with Beauty Skincare Group!"
"We want compensation!"
"Apologize to everyone online!"
"Beauty Skincare Group, get out of Verdania!"
Abella let them vent, and after a bit, she suddenly grabbed the curly-haired woman's hand.
"What are you doing?" The woman yanked her hand back. "Trying to hit me in front of the media?"
"You said you bought our whitening mask on December 15th and noticed the problem after a month, but your face has been inflamed for six months."
"What are you implying?" The woman was taken aback, then quickly said, "How can you tell how long it's been? Anyway, we want Beauty Skincare Group to pay up now and hold a press conference to apologize! Otherwise, I'll die right here in front of you!"
She suddenly pulled out a small knife and held it to her neck.
"My face is ruined, the doctors said it can't be fixed, I don't want to live anymore!!"
Just then, a car rolled up, and everyone turned to look, recognizing the license plate!
"Is that Phillipe's car?"
"Phillipe's here?"
"Why would he come to Beauty Skincare Group? Is he here on business, or..."
The reporters didn't waste a second and rushed towards him.
The car stopped, and Phillipe stepped out. The reporters swarmed him.
"Mr. Bourbon, are you just passing by, or do you know what's going on?"
"Have you heard about today's incident? Some consumers' faces got ruined after using Beauty Skincare Group's products. What's your take on this?"
"Beauty Skincare Group is a big name in Verdania. Do you think they'd put profits over consumers' well-being?"
"Mr. Bourbon?"
Phillipe, surrounded by more than twenty media outlets, stood tall and commanding.
"I've always used Beauty Skincare Group's men's products and never had any issues."
Everyone was stunned. They didn't expect Phillipe to be into skincare, let alone back Beauty Skincare Group. Their companies had no prior ties.
"I can personally vouch that all Beauty Skincare Group products are safe. If there's any problem, I'll personally compensate each person ten million dollars."
Phillipe's words left everyone even more shocked, and the cameras went wild. The victims' eyes lit up.
"Of course, if anyone's spreading lies and trying to trash Beauty Skincare Group's name, even if they don't go after them, I will. I'll demand ten million dollars from each person."
The light in the victims' eyes faded, replaced by panic.
"I've already called the cops on behalf of Beauty Skincare Group. The receipts, surveillance footage, and test results you all provided will be used as evidence."
