Chapter 1053 Unilaterally Announcing the Marriage News

"Swipe the card." Rainey was about to pay when Abella reached out to stop her, her eyes shifting to Phillipe.

Rainey was a bit taken aback. Was Abella expecting Phillipe to cover the bill?

"Wasn't Rainey treating us?" Phillipe smirked, clearly trying to put Rainey on the spot.

"Rainey was treating me. Since you're here, shouldn't you be the one paying?"

Phillipe hadn't really intended for Rainey to pay. Seeing Abella standing up for Rainey, he smiled slightly and swiped his card, quickly settling the bill.

Rainey hadn't expected Abella to save her over ten thousand dollars. She whispered happily in Abella's ear, "Thanks, Abella. Next time, when Phillipe isn't around, I'll treat you to dinner."

"I heard that," Phillipe said, helping Abella with her coat. "Next time, I'll take her abroad for work. If you're treating, it's for both of us, or don't bother."

Hearing that, Rainey was speechless.

At the McCoy Villa, Molly stormed into the house, finding her father, Ryder McCoy, on the phone. She couldn't help but vent her frustration, "Dad..."

Ryder was too busy with his important call to pay her any attention. He simply gestured for her to be quiet.

Molly, fuming, noticed a fancy invitation on the table. It was for a New Year's gala hosted by a children's charity foundation, inviting the McCoy family.

This gala annually attracted many prominent figures, including the Medici family!

"Alright, see you tomorrow night," Ryder said, ending his call with a pleased expression. He turned to Molly, "Who upset you? What's with your face?"

"Dad, I was bullied! Look, they even grabbed my neck!"

Ryder saw the clear slap mark on her face and the alarming bruises on her neck.

"Who did this?" Ryder's anger flared. "I'll deal with them right now!"

Molly was about to name the person, but had a sudden idea. She pointed to the invitation on the table, "That person will be at the gala tomorrow."

The invitation included a list of other guests, showcasing the host's connections and ability to gather so many high-society individuals. It also aimed to attract more attendees, as some wealthy people might be enticed by the chance to network with others on the list.

"Who is it? I'll handle them today! Why let them attend the gala?"

"Tomorrow, Dad. I'll tell you in person!" Molly thought, determined to humiliate Abella in front of everyone at the gala.

Outside the police station, a crowd of reporters had gathered.

Henry emerged, looking as composed and elegant as ever.

Cameras flashed incessantly as reporters rushed forward, eager to interview him.

Henry's lawyer, Jeffrey Adams, accompanied him, addressing the crowd, "Mr. Hall has provided phone recordings proving he was unaware of his two subordinates' actions. They were coerced by someone else to take the fall. The cops will reveal the responsible party once the investigation is complete. Please make way."

Henry's driver brought the car around, and bodyguards began dispersing the crowd.

Henry walked towards the car.

But the reporters were relentless, bombarding him with questions.

"Mr. Hall, do you know who is targeting the Medici family? Why are they framing you? Do you know them?"

"Mr. Hall, can you share what you discussed with your subordinates before their deaths?"

"Mr. Hall, are you friends or foes with the Medici family?"

"There's a rumor online that you're dating Lola. Is that true?"

Henry paused at the mention of Lola.

Sensing a hot topic, the reporters intensified their questioning.

"Do you mind Lola's past?"

"Does the Hall family approve of your relationship with Lola?"

"Did she really do all those bad things to the Medici family, or was she framed?"

"Will you marry her?"

"Are you living together now?"

Henry looked at the reporters and slowly said, "I've seen the rumors online. Lola and I are indeed dating, and we will be getting engaged soon."

"Engaged?" The reporters were stunned. Despite Lola's bad reputation, Henry still wanted to marry her.

Was this for real?

"Mr. Hall, do you truly love her, or are you using the engagement to divert attention from your current situation?"

"Are you trying to shift focus away from your subordinates' deaths?"

"Do you think Lola is a good person?"

"Do your parents support this engagement?"

"I love her very much. We'll announce the engagement date in a few days." Henry gestured to indicate he wouldn't take more questions and got into the car.

"Mr. Hall, don't leave... Mr. Hall..."

The reporters chased after the car, hoping for more details.

At Muse Manor, Lola saw the online discussions about her engagement to Henry.

The negative comments about her had started to die down, especially after Jeffrey warned that anyone defaming Henry or his fiancée would face legal action.

Curious onlookers began investigating the Hall family's wealth and Henry's personal achievements.

Lola's lips curled into a satisfied smile.

"These people are all talk. Threaten them with a lawsuit, and they won't dare say a word!" She happily ate a piece of fruit and continued reading the comments.

In the past, she wouldn't have considered a man like Henry. But now, after her fall from grace, having such a successful man willing to marry her was a point of pride.

Several users had commented on her social media, asking her to share tips on winning a wealthy man's heart and getting him to publicly announce their engagement.

As Lola scrolled through the comments, one caught her eye: [If Lola proposed the engagement, she's quite cunning. If she truly loved Henry, she could have had a wedding first and registered the marriage later, enjoying life with Henry. But she only suggested an engagement, clearly aiming for the benefits of being Mrs. Hall without fully committing to marriage. It seems she still hopes to find a better man.]
