Chapter 320 Call it off If Necessary
Aware someone was addressing her, Abella glanced at the newcomer—a freshman in military uniform, looking a bit nervous.
“Sorry, I can’t be your friend.”
Hearing her response, the boy’s face turned even redder, and he quickly scurried off as his friends burst into laughter.
Later, someone else came asking for Abella’s WhatsApp. She didn’t give it out and told him to focus on his studies instead. The three girls couldn’t help but laugh.
On the way back to the dormitory, they were continuously approached by boys. Abella was the most sought after for her WhatsApp.
In the following days, besides standing and marching, the instructors also taught the students combat.
During a break, Josie left for a moment and returned with red-rimmed eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Joanna was the first to notice, placing a hand on her shoulder. “Didn’t you just go to the restroom? Why the tears?”
Joanna’s question only made Josie’s eyes redden further, and she choked up, unable to speak.
Abella’s gaze landed on her,“Need help?”
Josie shook her head.
“Everyone, stand up—”
Just then, Instructor Liam blew his whistle, signaling the end of the break.
Joanna whispered to Josie,“Are you okay? Do you need to take a leave?”
Josie shook her head again.
The training in combat continued. As the sun began to set, the students, exhausted, could barely perform the movements correctly.
Abella, Clare, and Joanna occasionally checked on Josie, who seemed distracted and dim-eyed, as if she had suffered a great blow.
The instructor from the class next door, Lucas, couldn’t help but laugh because his class was performing much better.
He blew his whistle and declared,“Lucine, step out. Go teach the next class so Instructor Liam can take a break.”
“Yes, sir!” Lucine, who stepped out, was dashing and handsome, with an unyielding spirit in his eyes.
Liam's face darkened. A freshman teaching his class? How disrespectful!
He had always butted heads with Lucas, and now he glared warningly,“Who needs your little girl to teach?”
“Hey, my ‘kid’ is doing great. Does your class have anyone better? Dare to have a go?”
Liam looked back at his students,“Anyone willing?”
Silence...
They had seen Lucine leading the demonstration earlier. She was indeed good...
They would only get beaten...
“Let her try.”
Unexpectedly, Lucine’s gaze skipped over the instructors and pointed directly at Josie in the crowd.
Because she seemed easy to bully.
Liam asked Josie,“Can you handle it?”
Josie stood up,“Sir, I’ll give it a try.”
Lucine was pleased, flashing a smile,“Don’t cry if I accidentally hit you too hard.”
Both classes started cheering for their own.
Josie hadn’t been on stage long before Lucine struck her head, followed by a kick.
Observing Lucine's merciless maneuvers, which allowed no space for Josie, Clare raised her objections, questioning,"Is this not merely a friendly bout? Why does it assume such grave solemnity?"
“Enough, that’s too much!” Joanna couldn’t help but speak out.
“War knows no kin. Haven’t you heard?” Lucine kicked Josie to the ground again.
Though in pain, Josie struggled to get up.
Feeling sympathetic, Liam blew the whistle,“Fall in—”
“The combat lesson isn’t over, Instructor Liam. Feeling sorry already?” Lucas gloated, patting Liam’s shoulder,“Don’t blame my student if yours can’t match up. Let’s keep friendly...”
Liam brushed off his touch, his eyes showing discontent.
This wasn’t about being friendly; it was a personal vendetta, making a mockery of his students!
As if nothing had happened, Lucas turned to his students, Did you all see that? Learning combat not only strengthens you but can protect you when it counts. Keep your spirits up and learn! If you don’t, this is what happens!”
He pointed at Josie, who, not wanting to embarrass her class, forced herself to stand.
Some of Abella’s classmates were indignant. Josie was already beaten up, and now she was used as a bad example...
“Josie, are you okay?” Joanna and Clare rushed to help her off the stage.
Abella saw that Josie was seriously hurt. That Lucine had definitely done it on purpose.
“Lucine, fall in.” Lucas was about to blow his whistle when he heard a voice.
“Permission to speak.” Abella stood up, her gaze lazily falling on Lucine,“I’d like to see for myself how formidable Student Lucine is.”
Lucas turned around, surprised,“Oh, someone else dares to step up?”
It seemed the competitive instructor had trained competitive students!
Wanting to step up without weighing oneself?
So thin, can she even fight?
Liam saw Abella standing up and felt conflicted.
Although standing up for a classmate was commendable...
He remembered her practicing punches, and she wasn’t that good...
Wasn’t this just asking for trouble?
Liam cleared his throat and whispered to Abella,“Learn well before you compete. There’s no rush.”
“I can do it.” Abella’s eyes shone with confidence, clearly not one to back down.
Lucas couldn’t resist mocking,“Instructor Liam isn’t teaching his student to desert in the face of the enemy, is he? That’s not like you...”
Abella’s classmates started to speak up.
“Let me tell you, this is our top scorer Abella. You’ll be the ones crying in a minute!”
“Abella, show her who’s boss, teach her a lesson!”
“Abella, don’t hold back, hit her hard!”
Her classmates were all cheering her on.
Lucas and Liam were surprised to realize the elegant and proud girl before them was the legendary top scorer.
The top scorer, looking so beautiful?
If she got hit and marred her face, it would be a sight.
Hearing the words “top scorer,” Lucine realized this was the very person Lola had talked about.
She looked proud!
She’d use her fists to teach her a lesson!
As Abella approached Lucine, Liam could only whisper a reminder,“Don’t be too brave. I’ll call it off if necessary.”
Call it off?
No way...
