Chapter 731 Private Booking
"Need a lift?" Cecil stuck out his arm for her to grab, making sure their hands didn't touch—real gentleman-like.
Melanie hesitated but finally grabbed his arm. Her ankle hurt so bad she couldn't stand.
Seeing her wince, Cecil squatted down. "How 'bout I give you a piggyback ride?"
"You're just a kid, how can you carry me?"
"Out here in the middle of nowhere, you got no better options. Plus, I'm a grown man, not a kid. I can carry you all the way home without breaking a sweat!" Cecil stayed squatted.
Melanie chuckled and climbed on his back. "Just don't whine about me being heavy!"
"You're as light as a feather. Women always talk about losing weight. You're already so thin, and you still wanna lose more. You're gonna make yourself sick."
"Men are so full of it. You say you don't care, but you only like skinny women, not chubby ones."
"Let me set the record straight, I don't care about weight. If I like her, I don't care if she's tall, short, fat, or thin!"
"Yeah, right. Men are all about looks. If you saw a chubby woman, would you feel anything?"
"If you were chubby, I'd still think you look good."
"You're the chubby one!" Melanie playfully smacked him.
After a bit, Cecil got Melanie into the car, buckled her up, and everything.
The wind was picking up, and Cecil was still holding the kite. "Should I just let this thing go?"
It was pretty pointless to keep it.
Before Melanie could say no, the kite caught the wind and soared up.
"That big red heart is so tacky. Was it your idea or my dumb brother's?" Melanie looked grossed out.
"Probably that drama queen Lola's idea," Cecil guessed, eyeing the kite.
Henry wouldn't come up with something so cheesy. It had to be Lola's doing, her whining, or her tantrum that made Henry send a kite to smooth things over.
"Did you talk to him?" Melanie asked.
"Yeah, almost had to threaten him," Cecil said, leaning on the car door, looking exasperated. "You have no idea how much Lola gets on my nerves. I don't get why Henry likes her."
Melanie knew Henry wouldn't easily let go of Lola. "Forget it, let's head back."
She didn't want to see that heart-shaped kite anymore.
Meanwhile, when Henry brought Lola to SkySteel Spire, they found out the top floor was booked.
"Who booked it?" Lola worried about running into Phillipe and Abella again.
The staff politely said, "Sorry, we can't disclose the identity of our distinguished guests."
"How long did they book it for?" Lola asked. "Is it closed all day?"
"No one can go up until they leave."
A nearby tourist couldn't help but envy. "Must be nice to be rich. They can book the whole top floor just like that."
"We're just unlucky. We have to wait until they're done enjoying the view before we can go up."
"How are we unlucky? They booked the top floor, but they gave each of us a $200 voucher to eat at the restaurants on the first and second floors. That's pretty generous!"
The tower's got three levels. The first and second levels give you sweet views of Pariz and have some fancy restaurants, while the third level is the top floor with a killer 360-degree panoramic view.
Even though the top floor was booked, the first and second levels were still open for everyone.
"Whoever booked the top floor and gave us $200 is super generous."
"Yeah, I've never had such a pricey meal in my life."
"Same here."
Lola glanced back and saw dozens of tourists hanging around, all hoping to get lucky and go up after the VIPs left.
Seeing their regular clothes, Lola couldn't help but ask the staff, "What does it take to book the whole place?"
Her question caught the attention of many tourists.
"Is she here to book the place? She must be loaded, judging by her clothes."
"Her boyfriend looks rich too. Booking the place shouldn't be a big deal for them."
"If she's asking, money's probably not an issue for her."
"Man, so many rich and good-looking people these days."
Lola's ego was totally boosted, and she confidently looked at the staff.
The staff hesitated but finally said, "It depends on your status."
Just being rich wouldn't cut it.
"What about Caleb Harris?" Lola asked again.
The staff's expression changed, thinking Lola knew Caleb, and spoke more respectfully, "Mr. Harris definitely could."
Lola realized the person who booked the top floor must be on Caleb's level. Today's top-floor guest was a big deal.
"Henry, let's book the place too?" Lola eagerly grabbed Henry's hand.
Even though Henry's business was doing well back home, his status in Verdania wasn't strong enough.
Booking the entire top floor of the tower wasn't something money alone could buy.
Seeing Lola's hopeful look, Henry finally said, "Alright, wait here."
He first called his buddy Cecil. Cecil said, "Why can't Lola just chill? It's just a view, is it that big of a deal?"
"Watch your mouth."
"I really can't help with this. Unless my dad steps in, but why would he waste his connections for your girlfriend?"
Before Cecil could finish, Melanie grabbed the phone. "Henry! She's so high-maintenance, and you still spoil her? Are you nuts?"
"Why are you with him?" Henry was surprised. When did Melanie and Cecil get together?
"Because of you! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have twisted my ankle! Anyway, come home for dinner tonight. Don't say I didn't remind you, it's Grandpa's birthday today!" Melanie snapped and hung up.
Seeing Lola's expectant eyes, Henry said, "Wait a bit longer."
After thinking it over, he finally messaged his dad.
In the past, no matter how tough things got with his startup, he never asked his dad for help and always toughed it out on his own.
This was the first time he wanted to use his dad's status to make Lola's wish come true.
The Hall family owns over six thousand big department stores worldwide, with more than two million employees. If his dad agreed, booking the place wouldn't be a problem.
