Chapter 641 Comforting Lola
Abella followed Phillipe around different departments until Gabriel showed up with snacks, wrapping up their half-day visit.
Meanwhile, Lola got a message from her best friend, Vivian Reed, and was totally shocked.
Vivian: [Lola, you know my mom is the Deputy Director of Procurement at the Bourbon Group, right?]
Vivian: [This morning, she saw Phillipe holding hands with a girl at the Bourbon Group. By noon, they were having lunch together in the employee cafeteria.]
Vivian: [My mom said the girl was super pretty, even better than us, and about our age.]
Vivian: [Phillipe's mom also joined them for lunch. They looked like a happy family.]
Vivian: [Lola, isn't Phillipe your fiancé? How could he be with another girl and even get his mom's approval?]
Lola felt a chill as she read the messages, like she had fallen into an ice cave.
She knew the news about Phillipe's fiancée not being her would come out eventually, but she didn't expect it so soon.
She thought, 'How did Abella get Phillipe to hold her hand so openly at the Bourbon Group and even take her to the cafeteria, like they wanted everyone to know?'
Vivian: [I heard that as soon as she arrived, the super pretty HR Director Casey resigned, and Cecelia, who was close to the Bourbon family, got fired by Phillipe. Is it because they were too pretty and high-ranking, threatening that girl's status?]
Lola looked at Vivian's messages, feeling conflicted and didn't reply.
Vivian: [Phillipe is your fiancé, but there are hardly any pictures of you two together. Nothing happened between you two, right? The engagement still counts, right?]
Seeing this, Lola felt even more irritated. After thinking it over, she decided to come clean.
Lola: [Vivian, Phillipe and I broke up a while ago. Our parents haven't announced it, so we didn't tell anyone. Now that he's found someone he likes, I wish him well. Don't worry about me; I have a boyfriend now.]
As soon as Lola sent the message, Vivian bombarded her with questions, asking for details.
Lola replied: [It was Henry's persistence and sincerity that moved me, so I decided to give up on Phillipe and be with him.]
Vivian was in disbelief. 'Who would give up the handsome, young, global billionaire Phillipe for someone like Henry?'
Lola: [The more famous Phillipe gets, the more people scrutinize the woman beside him. I don't want to live my life wearing a perfect mask. With Henry, I can be myself.]
Vivian: [What about Phillipe? Did he agree to let go? You two grew up together; didn't he try to keep you from going to Henry?]
Lola: [I was determined to break up, even threatened never to see him again. Maybe he got scared, or maybe I hurt his feelings, or maybe I moved on to Henry too quickly. That's why he found someone new so fast and went public with it.]
Vivian: [Oh, I get it. He's using his new girlfriend to provoke you, to show you that he can always have women around him. No wonder he's being so public about it; he wants to make a point.]
Lola: [He knows your mom is the Deputy Director of Procurement and knows our relationship, yet he did this on purpose.]
Vivian: [He's so affectionate! How could you bear to hurt such a good man?]
Vivian felt sorry for Phillipe and regretted the relationship.
Seeing that Vivian really believed her, Lola finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Lola: [Phillipe is like a star in the sky. Being with him is too stressful; my every move would be scrutinized. I don't want to live like that.]
Vivian: [But the fact that he's using his new girlfriend to provoke you shows he still loves you. Such a good man, are you really not planning to go back to him and become the wife of the world's richest man?]
Lola: [Our relationship has just changed form, from engaged to good friends. The love and support we give each other will never change. We haven't cut ties; in the future, we'll continue to care for, support, and love each other.]
Seeing that the atmosphere was just right, Lola added: [Vivian, I consider you a good friend, so I'm telling you this secret. Please keep it confidential and don't let it slip. I'll personally address it once our parents make the announcement.]
Vivian: [Don't worry, I won't say a word!]
After sending this message, Vivian couldn't help but worry about Lola's mood.
Knowing that Lola was feeling down and guilty, Vivian decided to gather a few friends and give Lola a surprise visit at the Medici Manor to cheer her up.
After sending the message, Lola thought she had done a perfect job and quickly put down her phone, ready to take a nap.
Around four in the afternoon, several beautiful heiresses arrived at the Long Island Manor in their luxury cars.
Kimberly had just returned from the hospital, looking a bit haggard due to Clara's death. Seeing so many girls, she was momentarily taken aback.
"Mrs. Medici, it's me, Vivian! Long time no see. Why do you look so tired?"
"Didn't you sleep well? I'm Cathy, don't you remember me?"
"Long time no see, Mrs. Medici, I'm Isabel."
"I'm Nina."
"I'm Sophie, Mrs. Medici. Sorry to bother you again."
Kimberly took a closer look and realized these were all Lola's friends, so she quickly invited them in, "Come in and sit. I've been so busy these past few days that I haven't had a moment to myself. You all look even prettier than before."
"Thank you, Mrs. Medici," the heiresses said with bright smiles, following Kimberly into the manor.
Their drivers and luxury cars waited outside the manor gates.
"You're here to see Lola, right? It's Sunday, so if she hasn't gone out, she should be napping. I'll have someone check," Kimberly said.
"No, Mrs. Medici, don't wake her. We'll just wander around and wait for her to wake up, then say a few words and leave."
"It's rare for you all to visit. Stay for dinner tonight; don't be shy," Kimberly called a servant to bring drinks and snacks, saying kindly, "I'll go upstairs to change clothes and be right back."
"No, Mrs. Medici, you go ahead. We'll just wander around the garden."
"Your garden has so many new varieties; it looks beautiful."
"We'll just take some pictures and wait. You go ahead, don't worry about us."
