Chapter 922 Left Outside the Door
"I have asked Gabriel to come pick me up. I've got some stuff to take care of at the company. Someone else will fly the plane back later," Phillipe said, holding her hand and tucking it into his coat pocket to keep her warm.
"Okay," Abella replied, walking him to the door just as Gabriel's car pulled up.
"Ms. Medici," Gabriel greeted her as he got out of the car, opening the door for Phillipe.
"Be careful with your arm. Don't bump it again," Phillipe reminded her, concerned. "Remember to change the bandage, and don't sleep on it."
"I know."
"I'll call you when I'm done." Phillipe kissed her on the lips, patted her head, and then got into the car.
Abella watched the car drive away. Just then, her phone vibrated. It was a call from one of her assistants.
"Ms. Medici, Mr. Walker wants to know when you'll be available for a meeting with the IMoon Group. Everyone's been asking..."
Easter was just around the corner, and although he knew Abella was swamped, he had to report the matter.
"I'll check my schedule and get back to you."
Abella had some clothes for Isolde that needed her personal attention. Isolde wanted to wear them in the next few days, but some materials were still missing.
And she had other matters to handle.
"Alright." Her assistant hung up. As Abella was about to go inside, she heard someone call her name.
"Abella?" Dennis's voice was filled with surprise and joy. He quickly got out of the car and approached her, not caring if he aggravated his injury.
Louie, seeing Abella had indeed come home, followed Dennis with a look of delight.
Abella frowned slightly upon seeing them.
Dennis had clearly investigated her. He knew her name and where she lived.
"Um..." Dennis stammered, overjoyed to see her. "How about we go inside and talk?"
Abella's frown deepened. Were they that close? Just because he saved her in that abandoned building didn't mean he could come in for tea.
"No need. Whatever you have to say, say it here," Abella replied coldly. "Do you want the island back? Or are you looking to increase the price?"
"No, no... neither. The island is yours. I'll transfer fifty million dollars to your account, and I'll give you another fifty million to buy whatever you want."
Was this for real? What was Dennis up to?
Abella eyed him warily. "So, what do you want?"
"Actually, I'm your long-lost brother. I know this news must be shocking."
He came to her house pretending to be her brother?
Abella smirked coldly, not believing him. "And then?"
"Let's just forget about the past?"
"And after that?" Dennis noticed Abella seemed upset. It must be because Sean had broken up with her. She was in a bad mood.
What to do? How to cheer Abella up?
Dennis looked at Louie for help. Louie had no ideas. Abella surely held a grudge. Dennis had threatened to kill her before. How could they make her forget that quickly?
There was a connection between Dennis and Abella—Saskia.
Thinking this, Louie raised his eyebrows at Dennis, as if he had a plan.
Just praise Abella's good friend, and by extension, praise Abella. That should make her happy, right?
Abella saw them exchanging looks and became even more certain they had ulterior motives.
Dennis understood Louie's hint and asked Abella, "Do you know Saskia?"
He was about to praise Saskia and, by extension, Abella.
But Abella's expression turned even colder. She cut him off, "Trying to pursue my friend? With your attitude towards women, your fickleness, your indifference to others' suffering, your tolerance of your subordinates harassing female racers, your repeated price gouging, selling an island for billions, and your tendency to kill when displeased... stay away from my friend!"
Dennis was stunned, his smile frozen. Was this really how Abella saw him?
Abella turned and went inside, instructing the guards at the door, "Keep an eye on them. If either of them tries to come in, no need to be polite to them."
The guards were shocked. This was the first time someone had shown Dennis such disrespect, let alone left him outside.
No one had ever dared treat Dennis this way, let alone scold him.
They couldn't believe Dennis was like this outside. No wonder Abella was angry.
Thinking this, one of the guards shrugged and gave Dennis and Louie a helpless look.
There was nothing they could do. Abella was the most favored in the house now. They couldn't afford to offend her. If she said no entry, they had to guard the door with their lives.
Louie was also stunned by Abella's words. After a while, he looked at Dennis and swallowed hard. "Mr. Medici, it seems your image in Ms. Medici's eyes is quite poor."
"Shut up," Dennis snapped. "Do you think you're any better?"
Abella had said neither of them could enter. Both of them. That included Louie!
"It's your lousy idea that made things worse. Now Abella's even more upset." Dennis stood outside his own house, wanting to go in but afraid of Abella's anger. He glanced at the guard, who quickly retreated inside, not daring to open the door.
'Damn it!' He thought.
He didn't even want to go in. Even if the door was open, he wouldn't dare step inside.
Was the guard really that scared? How could someone so timid be his family bodyguard?
"Mr. Medici, why don't you sit for a while?" Louie suggested, pulling a folding camping chair from the trunk and setting it up at the door. "It's freezing out here, and your injury hasn't healed."
"Get that out of here," Dennis snapped, more irritated. "Abella told me to stand. Do you want me to sit and get scolded? Are you looking for a beating?"
If Abella saw him sitting comfortably in the chair, she'd probably get even angrier.
