Chapter 477 Someone Can Control You
"I know, this is just my speculation, so don't worry for now," Abella whispered, "I've sent people to look for her, but we haven't found her yet. We can start by finding her parents."
Perhaps her parents know something.
"What are we waiting for then? Let's go to Florida now."
Winston was desperate to find her. The idea that Nicole might have been poisoned, and relying on a different poison to delay the effects, made his heart feel like it was being strangled. It was unbearable!
Just then, Sam knocked on the door. "Ms. Abella, there's news. Nicole’s parents ran out of money; they are working as tutors for a family in Florida. I've sent you the location."
"Okay." Abella ordered calmly, "Arrange a private plane for me. Winston and I are going there now."
Winston was surprised; Abella had a private plane?!
Upon hearing this, Sam exclaimed, "Ms. Abella, you can't leave the country! Have you forgotten about the several factions that were previously..."
Abella's gaze pressured him, and Sam quickly changed his tune. "You should stay in the country. There are many things waiting for you to take care of."
Winston sensed something was off. "What do you mean by several factions? Why can't Abella leave the country? Is it dangerous for her to go abroad?"
"I..." Sam was caught off guard, hesitated for a while, and then blurted out, "What I meant was, when Ms. Abella went to catch those people at Nicole's family before, one of them escaped, right? What if that person goes back for reinforcements and sets up an ambush for Ms. Abella in Florida? There's no one to help her there; it's too dangerous for her to go."
"Shut up and leave." Abella felt he talked too much.
"Ms. Abella..."
Abella raised her warning gaze again, and Sam could only silently retreat.
"Abella, send me the address; I'll go alone." Winston also sensed the level of danger. " You should stay in the country; if anything happens to you, I'll never forgive myself."
" Sam tends to worry over nothing. Ignore him. Let's go back to the Manor and pack some light luggage. We might be gone for two or three days."
Although she had spare clothes on her private plane, Winston did not.
"Abella, please listen to me." Winston really couldn't bear the risk she was taking; having such a caring sister was rare.
"Winston, there's no room for negotiation in this matter."
Abella thought to herself that she could protect Winston if she went with him.
If Winston went alone, that would be the real danger.
If he got caught, she would have to step in to save him, which would be even more troublesome.
Seeing that Abella was determined, Winston hesitated. "Abella..."
"Let's go back to the Manor." Abella didn't want to discuss this topic anymore.
Winston looked at Abella's stubborn face and finally relented. "Promise me, if there's danger, I'll tell you to run, and you must obey."
"Okay."
Even if they had to run, she would take Winston with her.
"No turning back," Winston added.
"Alright, no turning back."
On the way back to the Manor, Winston received several WhatsApp messages from Lola.
Lola: [Winston, I've made up my mind. Let's go to the States this weekend~ We can take photos at the Statue of Liberty and have fun at Disneyland~]
Lola pretended to be understanding and sent another message.
Lola: [Abella probably hasn't been to places like these much in her life, so it could create some wonderful memories for her too.]
Before Winston could reply, Lola sent another message.
Lola: [We can also visit many other famous attractions.]
Winston: [Lola, I have something to do this weekend. Maybe next time.]
Lola: [Then we'll go next time~]
Lola sent another smiling emoji.
Lola:[You mentioned that we would have plenty of time together in the future, so there is no rush for the moment.]
Winston: [Okay.]
Winston responded with just this word, devoid of any inclination to add further.
Lola, feeling his lack of enthusiasm, tried to reassure herself, but she couldn't shake the feeling that Winston's responses were becoming shorter.
Valleydale.
Sam thought to himself, 'Abella is becoming more stubborn and less receptive to advice. If I can't handle Ms. Abella, there is always Phillipe!'
Thinking of the various forces, only Phillipe's people could resist them. So, he shamelessly called Phillipe and informed him of Abella's plan to go to Florida.
Abella was driving when her phone vibrated halfway through the journey. She pressed the answer button on the steering wheel, and Phillipe's voice filled the car.
"Abella, are you going to Florida?"
Upon hearing this, Abella knew it was Sam who had spilled the beans. Fine, she will deduct his yearly bonus when she gets back. Unaware of this, Sam was patting himself on the back, thinking he had found someone who could control Abella.
"I have some things to take care of," Abella explained, "I was planning to call you once I arrived at the Manor."
Unbeknownst to Sam, he had inadvertently made Phillipe think that Abella was deliberately keeping things from him.
"What have you been busy with lately?" Phillipe sounded concerned over the phone.
Winston, seated in the passenger seat, said, "Phillipe, it's me."
"Winston." Phillipe was somewhat surprised. "Are you with Abella?"
The siblings had been spending a lot of time together recently, and Phillipe was curious about what they were up to.
" My girlfriend disappeared a year ago, and Abella is helping me find her. We have some leads now and need to go to Florida. Rest assured, Abella is with me, and I will protect her." Phillipe wanted to ask how he planned to protect her, as if all those forces outside decided to act together, both he and Abella might not be a match for them, let alone Winston.
"I'm going too." Phillipe was worried.
Winston looked at Abella, seemingly asking for her opinion.
Calmly, Abella said, "Yesterday, I saw Gabriel's Facebook. He mentioned that he's going to France in the coming days. If I'm not mistaken, you two are together?"
"He can go alone," Phillipe immediately decided. "I don't have much to do recently."
"We'll only be gone for a day or two, and we'll be back soon. You focus on your work for now."
"Abella."
Phillipe couldn't mention the forces in front of Winston, but both he and Abella knew the danger they posed.
"Your safety is more important than my work."
