Chapter 635 Everyone Was Stunned
"Yeah, Camila really messed up. She just got home, and I gave her a good talking-to. She knows she was wrong, especially for causing a scene with the security guards at the Bourbon Group and wrecking Phillipe's office."
Claire said coolly, "That's not the main issue. Camila accused Abella of stealing. Imagine what the Medici family would think if they heard that? They're loaded; why would she need to steal?"
"Yeah, Camila was out of line. I apologize for her. We've spoiled her too much." Just as Nicholas was about to apologize more, Claire cut in, "The Bourbon family wouldn't dare ask the Jenkins family for an apology. I heard Camila gave Abella a nasty look when she apologized, like a warning. Abella's always been kind and never dealt with something like this. Now look at the mess."
"It's all Camila's fault. I'll set her straight and take her to apologize to Ms. Medici." Nicholas was shocked at how reckless Camila had been, almost ruining the family ties. He quickly tried to fix things.
"Nicholas, you know the Medici family dotes on their daughter. If you bring Camila over, Beckett and Kimberly will be furious when they find out someone bullied their daughter. You know what'll happen."
"Yeah, it's Camila's fault. I feel terrible about it. How about this: is Ms. Medici still at the Bourbon Group? I'll take Camila there this afternoon to apologize in person."
"No need. Abella's still shaken up," Claire said casually. "I need to go comfort her now. Goodbye."
After hanging up, Claire smiled and said, "Let them sweat for a few days, then we'll handle it. Abella, eat up before the food gets cold. Try the cafeteria food and see if it's good."
Her tone with Nicholas was totally different from how she spoke to Abella.
Abella laughed at her quick change in attitude and took a bite. "It's delicious, Mrs. Bourbon. You should eat too."
"Having a meal with you makes me so happy!" Claire said. "I'm really glad I came today."
They had a pleasant meal.
Meanwhile, Camila's mom sent several voice messages to Claire, but she ignored them. Then came text messages, one after another, full of apologies and a desire to make up.
Claire kept enjoying her meal with Abella, ignoring the messages, which surprised everyone on the first floor.
"Ms. Sanders came to drive away the woman by Mr. Bourbon's side, but it looks like they're having a happy family meal."
"Don't they look like a family? Mr. Bourbon and that girl seem like a couple, and Ms. Sanders seems like the mother-in-law."
"Having a mother-in-law like that seems awesome. Look at her serving food to that girl, like she's already accepted her. Who is that girl? She's so lucky."
"What about Lola?"
"Yeah, does Ms. Sanders not care about the Medici and Bourbon families' relationship? Does this mean Lola and Mr. Bourbon's engagement is off?"
As they chatted, the deputy director of procurement walked by, and everyone quickly hushed and continued eating quietly.
The deputy director glanced up at the second floor, also finding it odd. Given Phillipe and Lola's engagement, he shouldn't be openly doting on another girl in public.
The key point was that Claire was there too.
Claire's way of caring for the girl seemed like a future mother-in-law taking care of her future daughter-in-law.
The deputy director sent a message and then left.
"She left. I heard her daughter is good friends with Lola. Do you think she just informed her daughter about this?"
"Possibly. Wouldn't Lola be very upset if she heard about it? Who knows if their engagement is still valid."
"Who would've thought this girl would cause such a stir on her first visit."
"Isn't this her second visit? Last time, I was discussing work with Gabriel when he suddenly got a call. He looked very surprised and happy, then told the garage security to keep an eye out for a red sports car arriving in five minutes and to let it through."
"And then?" Everyone gathered around, eager to hear more.
The female employee, seeing everyone's interest, continued, "Then that day, Mr. Bourbon was in a meeting. Gabriel personally went to Mr. Bourbon's private garage to pick someone up. They were supposed to take Mr. Bourbon's private elevator upstairs, but a new employee, unaware that only Mr. Bourbon could use that elevator, pressed the button. When the elevator reached the first floor, the doors opened, and Gabriel was very respectful and courteous to the girl. She was very beautiful; I still remember her. It was her!"
"So, she had been here before? We just didn't know because she was so discreet."
"Last time, she was holding a document. I thought she was from another group here to discuss a collaboration with Mr. Bourbon. I didn't expect her to be Mr. Bourbon's girlfriend." The female employee sighed, feeling very sad, as if she had suddenly experienced a breakup.
She had always secretly admired Phillipe.
She fantasized about being the heroine in a romantic drama, hoping for a chance to win Phillipe's favor.
Now, her fantasy was shattered.
