Chapter 927 The Gift is Criticized by Everyone
"Then why didn't you let him in?" Kimberly asked, confused.
"Did you see him before Maria took you?" David pressed.
"Did anything weird happen?" Vanessa looked at Abella.
Abella's mind raced through countless memories, including the first time she met Dennis. There was a woman all over Dennis, and he didn't push her away.
Seeing that everyone was determined to know the reason, Abella chose the least significant one to explain. "Well, I had my eye on an island that Dennis owned. I bought it from him at a low price, and when I saw him today, I thought he came to my house because of the island."
"Dennis actually charged you?" Kimberly was shocked.
"He didn't know I was his sister at the time," Abella explained.
"How much did he charge you? I'll make him give it back."
"He returned the money when he found out I was his sister and even gave me an extra fifty million dollars for shopping."
Everyone was stunned. Since when did Dennis become so generous?
Lola never asked him for anything because he always had a cold demeanor that scared her away.
Who would have thought he'd give Abella fifty million dollars for shopping?
"Dennis is still injured. I'll get him some medicine." Abella went to her room, grabbed a few pills, dissolved them in warm water, and handed it to Dennis as he came downstairs.
Dennis was surprised that Abella brought him water and said excitedly, "You didn't have to do this..."
He quickly drank it down, finding the taste a bit strange, but it didn't matter. Since Abella gave it to him, he'd drink it all, even if it was poison.
"Dennis, where did you and Abella meet? What happened?" Vanessa asked first.
Dennis's mind flashed to a scene of him being close with a woman, and he didn't dare to recall it.
Abella must have misunderstood him!
Otherwise, she wouldn't have said he didn't refuse women at the door.
That woman was an assassin sent to kill him, not a companion.
He didn't even have a girlfriend.
"And why haven't you come home for over half a year? Louie said you were injured. When did that happen? How did you get hurt?"
"Why didn't you come home before you got hurt?"
"Did you ever call Abella?"
Seeing everyone bombarding Dennis with questions, Abella spoke up, "Dennis and I were both investigating the fire from years ago and ran into each other by accident."
Everyone immediately understood the situation.
"I also investigated that hospital fire back then and found nothing." Vanessa didn't expect the kids to be more capable than her, uncovering so many clues, even identifying Maria and Jacob.
"And you didn't bring Abella a gift when you came home?" Kimberly noticed his empty hands and got a bit angry. She had repeatedly reminded him to bring a gift for Abella.
"I did." Dennis glanced at Louie.
"I'll get it." Louie sneezed and was about to leave when Abella handed him a small bottle of medicine. "There are two pills left for your cold."
Louie looked at the unmarked bottle but accepted it with a smile, trusting Abella's medical expertise. "Thanks, Ms. Medici ."
Her forgiveness made him feel relieved.
Soon, Louie returned with a gift box that was larger than a cake box. "Mr. Medici had this specially delivered earlier."
It was something they had brainstormed while freezing outside!
Dennis handed it to Abella. "For you."
Abella, not used to Dennis being so polite and gentle, took it and said softly, "Thank you."
Hearing Abella's gentle voice, Dennis suddenly understood why everyone always rushed home to be with her. Her voice could touch anyone's heart.
Who wouldn't want to stay home with such a sister?
Compared to the agile, cold-faced girl before, Abella now seemed so sweet.
"Abella, open it and see what Dennis got you!"
Everyone was curious.
"Something this big can't be jewelry, right?"
"Dennis, you like gambling on stones. You didn't give her a rock, did you?"
"No way, rocks are too heavy for Abella to carry."
Louie, hearing this, smirked. They had no idea how strong Abella was. Despite her thin frame, she could lift a 300-pound barbell.
Under everyone's curious gaze, Abella untied the ribbon and opened the box to find a pair of boxing gloves.
Seeing that, everyone was stunned.
Dennis smiled mischievously, "The best boxing gloves in the world. If you're ever upset, you can punch me."
Everyone fell silent.
Kimberly almost fainted from anger.
"Two punches are fine too." Dennis's words were met with collective groans.
"What kind of gift is that! Abella is so delicate, why would you give her this?"
"Does she look like someone who would hit people?"
"I thought it would at least be clothes or shoes. Are you trying to make me angry?"
"You have so many car keys and houses, but you give this..."
"Can't you give something girls like?" Vanessa couldn't help but scold. "Perfume, jewelry, clothes, shoes, purses ... anything would be better. Look at what you gave."
"Dennis, with gifts like this, you'll never win Abella's favor or find a girlfriend." David was exasperated.
"I really like it, thank you." Abella accepted the gift graciously.
Dennis, feeling he had made a mistake, was relieved and happy when he heard Abella. "Really?"
"Yes." Abella smiled. "But I won't use them to hit you."
Dennis replied, "If you find them uncomfortable, you can use your fists..."
"Just stop talking. Do you think Abella is like you, always fighting?" Kimberly wanted him to buy a new gift.
"This is just a homecoming gift. There's still an Easter gift, right?" Beckett quickly intervened, looking at Dennis with a hint. "The Easter gift will be different, right?"
"Yes, Mr. Medici has also prepared an Easter gift, which he carefully selected. It's definitely different from this one." Louie quickly added.
