Chapter 994 Adding Fuel to the Fire
"Ladies and gentlemen, tomorrow we're throwing a homecoming banquet to officially introduce Abella. May God bless her with peace, health, and happiness."
Just then, a long limousine pulled up outside the front door.
A servant came to report, "Mr. George Medici and his family have arrived."
George, Margaret, and Elsa walked in, followed by their driver carrying a pile of gifts.
"Kimberly, we're running late this year," Margaret said with a graceful smile, her eyes kindly scanning the brothers. "I didn't expect all five of you to be here. Looks like Abella's presence is more effective than your words."
Kimberly laughed, "Exactly. Usually, I have to nag them to finish work and come home for Christmas. This year, they all came back on their own without me having to say a word."
Margaret smiled knowingly and looked lovingly at Abella. "Abella must be very charming to make all her brothers come home for Christmas. Even I, as her aunt, am particularly fond of her."
"Abella, long time no see," George greeted warmly. "I've been so busy before the holidays. I wanted to invite you to dinner, but I couldn't find the time."
"Hello. Uncle, Anut," Abella greeted them with a gentle smile. "It's okay, I understand. Everyone's busy."
"Hey, Abella," Elsa said with a friendly smile.
Abella nodded slightly, not showing much enthusiasm.
Margaret could tell that if it weren't for the others present, Abella wouldn't even give Elsa this much respect. It was Elsa's own fault for leaving a bad impression on Abella earlier.
But Margaret smiled and said, "Let's go light the Christmas candles first, and then we can chat."
Kimberly handed each of them a candle, and they chatted and laughed.
"Abella, it's a bit crowded here. Shall we go to the terrace?" Steven suggested, worried that Abella might be tired from standing.
"Yeah, let's go to the terrace. I'll keep you company," Winston said, putting his arm around Abella's shoulder.
The other four brothers immediately protested, "Take your hand off her!"
Elsa was surprised and puzzled by how well the brothers treated Abella.
Even Lola never received such affection. Could it be because of blood ties?
Was it because Abella had Medici blood that her brothers were willing to treat her like family?
This would surely infuriate Lola.
Elsa's lips curled into a smile. Anything that could anger Lola made her happy.
But where was Lola today?
Seeing the brothers surrounding Abella and heading to the terrace, Elsa quickly followed.
George and Margaret finished lighting the candles and joined Kimberly on the terrace, chatting and laughing.
"Abella, have some fruit," Dennis said, offering a piece of fruit to Abella.
"It's cold out, Abella should have some hot milk," Winston said, handing her a cup. "I made it myself. It's a bit hot, so be careful."
"Abella, do you like this?" Dennis showed her a picture of a gemstone necklace on his phone. "The brand sent it over. They plan to make it into this necklace. Do you like the design? Or would you prefer it as a ring or earrings?"
"Hey, I just remembered something that would suit Abella better," Blake said, pulling out his phone and showing a photo his friend sent him. "Look, wouldn't this hair accessory look great on Abella? I thought of her as soon as I saw it!"
"Nice, I'll transfer the money and order it. Consider it my gift to Abella," Ethan said.
"No way, I saw it first. I'll buy it for Abella!" Blake insisted, showing the photo to Abella. "Do you like it, Abella? Is it okay?"
He was worried that Abella's taste might be above theirs and she might find it ugly.
"Blake, don't buy it," Abella said.
Blake immediately placed the order. Abella didn't say it was ugly, just that she felt bad about him spending money, which meant she didn't dislike the diamond hair accessory!
Elsa felt like an outsider as she watched them chat happily.
The thing was, this scene that would infuriate Lola wasn't even witnessed by her. Elsa couldn't help but ask, "Oh, where's Lola today?"
Her question changed the atmosphere instantly. The brothers' expressions seemed a bit unhappy.
Had Lola done something wrong?
Margaret, who had come into the living room, also asked, "Where's Lola today?"
Usually, she would be clinging to the brothers when they came home. Today, she was nowhere to be seen.
"We kicked her out," Kimberly said honestly.
Not only were George and Margaret surprised, but Elsa was also taken aback, followed by barely concealed excitement!
Had Lola finally been thrown out?
How could they bear to do it?
Kimberly explained everything Lola had done, including how she had bullied Abella over the past six months and the fact that she was the daughter of Jacob and Maria.
"She's Jacob and Maria's daughter?" George and Margaret exchanged incredulous looks.
Elsa couldn't believe that the once arrogant Lola was actually the daughter of the butler and maid. She felt ecstatic.
Seeing her grandparents' anger, Elsa didn't miss the chance to add fuel to the fire. "Actually, I haven't visited you recently because of Lola. She had someone beat me up, so I've been recovering at home. I didn't want to worry you, so I stayed away."
"Elsa," Margaret said in a warning tone, giving her a reproachful look as if to scold her for stirring things up.
"What did you say?" Carl and Winslow asked, learning that Lola had even bullied Elsa, having her beaten up, causing her to stay home and recover.
"That ungrateful brat!" Carl and Winslow were furious, their impression of Lola worsening.
