Chapter 619 The Body Slowly Turns Cold

No one knew how long it had been, but Abella stopped moving, and the doctors did too.

All the medical instruments showed the patient had no signs of life and couldn't be revived.

Abella glanced at the clock and quietly said, "Time of death, December 28, 7:23 PM."

Everyone in the operating room bowed their heads in silent mourning.

Scenes from the past kept replaying in Abella's mind. 'Abella, I heard you just came back. Are you getting used to it? I heard you used to live in Empire Vista City, New York too. I haven't been back in a long time. Let's go shopping sometime? Can I add you on WhatsApp?'

Clara's voice and smiling face lingered in her mind.

Tears welled up in Abella's eyes. She removed the tube from Clara's bed, covered her with a white sheet, and said hoarsely, "Take her out."

Everyone moved silently, but the sorrow was overwhelming.

When the door opened, Sharon saw Clara on the bed covered with a white sheet, and tears streamed down her face.

Zephyr couldn't believe it. When the gurney was pushed in front of him, he took a long time to muster the courage to lift the white sheet.

Clara's face was colorless, lying peacefully on the gurney.

Zephyr's hand trembled as he checked for breath and a pulse but found none.

Clara, who was just talking to him, was suddenly gone.

"Clara." Zephyr broke down, collapsing onto the white sheet, crying uncontrollably.

"Clara, how am I supposed to live without you?" Sharon hugged Clara's body, crying her heart out.

Beckett and Kimberly were heartbroken, unable to imagine how such a lively, cheerful, beautiful, and intelligent girl could suddenly die, and tears streamed down their faces.

Winston, standing nearby, had red-rimmed eyes, and tears rolled down his cheeks.

In his mind, Clara's bright smile and cheerful voice kept appearing. 'Winston, what have you been busy with lately? I understand a girl's mind better. Next time you go out, you can take me along. I guarantee your sister will have a great time. Mrs. Medici bought me so many beautiful clothes. I'm so happy. Winston, did I say something wrong to make you unhappy? I'm sorry.'

Winston's shoulders trembled as he looked at Clara on the gurney, remembering that cold morning when Clara brought him breakfast. 'I know you have feelings for Nicole and that you'll never like anyone else. I was just unwilling to give up and wanted to see if I could win you over. I do like you, and I did approach you as a friend. Now that you two are back together, I sincerely wish you both happiness. Even though I can't be with you and can't let go quickly, just knowing she's back and seeing you smile more makes me feel satisfied. Winston, as long as you're happy, it doesn't matter if it's with me or not, although it does make me a little sad.'

Winston was in shock.

Clara used to be so optimistic and cheerful. He remembered a moment: 'I made this breakfast for you, hoping for your praise. Mrs. Medici gave me these dresses last night. I'm not fit for visits anymore; please give them to her and thank her for me. This book has Mr. and Mrs. Medici's preferences and places they like to spend money. I've made them VIPs and noted some card passwords and questions. You have a girlfriend now, so I won't join group activities to avoid misunderstandings. Take care of yourself and your girlfriend. I'm leaving, but you must be happy.'

Winston slid down the wall, sitting on the floor, covering his eyes with his hands, his shoulders shaking as he cried.

"Clara, what am I supposed to do? There's still so much of my life left. How am I supposed to live?" Sharon cried, unable to bear the pain. "You promised to take me to Paris after this busy period. How could you lie to me? Get up, Clara."

"As long as you open your eyes, I'll agree to anything you want!" Zephyr cried. "Clara, my dear daughter, can you hear me? Please wake up. I've never asked you for anything, just this once. Please wake up and look at me, okay?"

"You can't do this. You can't leave us behind," Sharon cried out in despair.

Seeing them cry, the nurse pushing the gurney looked at Abella with difficulty.

Abella gestured for them to step back.

Sharon hugged the body and suddenly choked out, "Twinkle, twinkle, little star, How I wonder what you are!"

This was Clara's favorite song as a child and the first piano piece she learned.

As Sharon sang, Clara's lively and adorable childhood image appeared in her mind. She sang and cried, "Up above the world so high, Like a diamond in the sky."

The girl on the bed was motionless, her hands growing cold.

Sharon touched her hand, feeling the warmth fade, and suddenly wailed, crying even harder.

Her daughter was dead.

The daughter she had raised was suddenly dead.

Clara was really dead.

Sharon cried uncontrollably, unable to bear the shock.

At that moment, Kimberly's phone vibrated repeatedly.

She didn't want to answer, but the caller wouldn't stop, calling several times in a row.

She forced herself to hold back her tears. As soon as she answered, she heard, "Hello, is this Mrs. Medici? The CVO solution Ms. Wren ordered for you has arrived in Empire Vista City. Are you home now? Can we deliver it?"

The CVO solution was only available to the Royal.

Beckett had worked too hard in his youth, leaving him with chronic shoulder and neck pain that often kept him awake at night.
