Chapter 993 Phillipe Was Here
"Hold up, Abella made a ton of cookies, so why is there only one plate?"
Kimberly had barely finished her sentence when the chef brought out another plate of Abella's cookies. She quickly snatched three and tossed them into her bowl, but when she reached for a fourth, the plate was already empty.
"You guys are such thieves!"
Blake was annoyed. He hadn't managed to snag a single cookie since they started. Just as he was about to lose his cool, the chef brought out another steaming plate of cookies. As soon as it hit the table, everyone scrambled to grab some.
"These aren't Abella's cookies."
"Who made these? They look awful."
Everyone pulled back their forks, not taking a single cookie, their faces showing clear disdain.
"These were made by Mr. Blake Medici." The chef's words made everyone turn their gaze to Blake. If they heard correctly, Blake himself had said his cookies were ugly, and he was the first to pull back his hand.
Among everyone, only Abella reached out, took a cookie, and tasted it. "Not bad, it's good."
"Abella, don't force yourself."
"How can you eat something that looks this bad?"
"If it could be saved, the chef wouldn't have brought it out like this. It means even the chef couldn't salvage it."
"It really is good," Abella insisted that everyone try it.
Out of respect for Abella, everyone decided to give it a shot. But just then, the chef brought out another plate of cookies, emphasizing, "These were made by Ms. Medici."
Everyone started scrambling again.
The older relatives were surprisingly more aggressive in grabbing food than the younger ones, and the plate was empty in seconds.
The meal ended in a frenzy of cookie-grabbing.
Compared to the lively scene, Lola's side was much quieter.
She finished the ravioli Henry made for her and logged into her new phone to check WhatsApp. She saw Stories from her brothers.
Steven: [Tastes like home.]
Ethan: [Abella's amazing skills.]
Winston: [My sister Abella's cookies are just too delicious.]
Dennis: [My sister Abella made these! Everyone praises her!]
Blake: [Not only are Abella's cookies beautiful, but they're also incredibly tasty!]
Each brother posted pictures, and Blake even shared a short video.
Steven's post was a close-up of the cookies, showing that Abella could make all kinds of intricate cookies, and they looked perfect.
Ethan's photo showed the cookies ready to eat, looking delicious.
Winston posted a picture of everyone reaching for the cookies. Clearly, there were a lot of people dining.
Lola counted; there were 15 people.
Who were the extra guests?
Could Phillipe have gone?
Or maybe Savannah?
It seemed that Dennis's photo was stolen from Steven's.
Blake's video showed the chef bringing out a plate of cookies, everyone immediately reaching for them, and the plate emptying in seconds, with everyone smiling happily.
She couldn't believe they were so happy without her.
In Blake's video, Lola heard her grandparents' laughter and saw Beckett and Kimberly's smiles.
Their smiles were genuine.
She couldn't believe her absence didn't affect them at all. They were still eating, drinking, and enjoying the festival.
Lola felt a pang of sadness. She was badly injured, just saved from the brink of death, yet her parents and grandparents were laughing so heartily.
They really didn't care about her.
Lola watched the video over and over, feeling worse each time. She thought about all the things they had discarded and the past happiness, and a seed of hatred began to grow in her heart.
After lunch, Abella and the family went to visit Vilma's grave.
Vilma's grave was well-kept, adorned with fresh flowers and beautiful bouquets.
"Someone's been here?" Blake was surprised. Who would remember Vilma?
Everyone was surprised. The Wilson family jerks clearly wouldn't come.
Who could it be?
Abella looked at the bouquet's wrapping paper and guessed it was Phillipe.
This kind of wrapping paper and flowers were only available at one nearby flower shop. She had taken Phillipe there before, and he remembered, not only buying flowers for Vilma but also cleaning up the weeds around the grave.
"It was Phillipe, no need to guess," Abella said.
Everyone was surprised.
Kimberly was especially surprised. "Phillipe came? That's so thoughtful."
He was the first to visit Vilma.
Abella and the others placed their flowers, introduced themselves to Vilma, and then led everyone in a moment of silence.
Carl and Winslow couldn't help but feel emotional, expressing their gratitude to Vilma.
David and Vanessa sincerely thanked Vilma for her kindness to Abella.
Beckett and Kimberly were in tears.
"You were Abella's grandmother, so you're our grandmother too. We'll visit you every year!" Blake said.
"Abella is doing well now, Mrs. Wilson, you can rest easy," Steven said.
"We'll all take care of her, just like you did," Ethan added.
"I'll protect her with my life," Dennis promised.
"Tomorrow is Abella's homecoming party. Mrs. Wilson, you can watch from heaven. Her identity no longer needs to be hidden, and you can be at peace," Winston said, bowing to Vilma.
Abella stepped forward, touched the photo on the tombstone, and gently hugged the grave. "Grandma, I'm doing well now. I have my family and Phillipe; you can rest easy."
A breeze blew by, like Vilma's gentle response.
Abella spoke to the photo for a while, and when she said it was time to go, everyone left together.
In the car, she messaged Phillipe and confirmed it was him who visited Vilma.
Her heart warmed.
In the afternoon, the Medici family's blessing ceremony began.
On the terrace in front of the living room, the servants had set up a beautifully decorated tree, surrounded by lights and ornaments, with elegant candles and festive food.
Beckett and Kimberly led everyone in gathering to light the blessing candles, expressing their wishes for peace and joy.
