Chapter 270 Bleeding Head
"Mom, we did neglect Abella before and wanted to make it up to her, but shouldn't you leave your belongings to your closest kin?" Mrs. Wilson didn't wait for her answer and continued angrily, "You know the situation at home now, we can hardly make ends meet. We've asked for your help several times, but you turned a deaf ear. We never expected that you secretly made a will, what has that girl done? Why are you so biased towards her?"
Mrs. Wilson was so furious, "In two days, it will be Isla and Remy's engagement banquet. If she attends it wearing old clothes, won't she become a laughingstock? And in two years, when she graduates from university and marries into the Johnson family, how can she have no dowry?"
Mrs. Wilson didn't give Barbara a chance to speak and continued her rant, "If you split your belongings equally among all of us, I wouldn't say anything. But you gave everything to Abella. When we needed your help, you didn't help, and when someone didn't need your help, you insisted on giving it to them. Why?"
Isla silently shed tears on the side, seemingly saddened and disappointed by her grandmother's favoritism.
Barbara covered her chest in anger, unable to say anything due to the pain.
Seeing the situation, Mr. Wilson pulled Mrs. Wilson behind him and hurriedly stepped forward. "Mom, are you okay? Is it your heart?"
"Don't pretend! You have to give us an explanation for this today! Or it won't end!" Seeing Mrs. Wilson crossing her arms in front of her chest with a very unreasonable demeanor, Mr. Wilson turned around and glared at her.
Grandma didn't seem to be pretending. If she were to get too angry, wouldn't it be more trouble than it's worth? Barbara was so angry that her whole body was trembling. She found things on the bedside table - a heating pad, tissue box, reading glasses, and so on - and threw them one by one at Mrs. Wilson.
Mrs. Wilson quickly dodged the items flying at her and said, "Mom, can't you be reasonable? What are you doing? That's enough!"
When there was nothing left to throw, Barbara found the bedside call button with a cord, intending to call someone to drive them away.
But before her hand reached the button, Mr. Wilson noticed it and hurriedly retracted the cord, placing the button out of Grandma's reach to prevent her from summoning anyone.
"Mom, what are you doing? Take a deep breath." Mr. Wilson quickly rubbed her back and then turned to Mrs. Wilson, saying, "You go out for a while, Isla can stay."
"Why should I leave?" Mrs. Wilson wanted to argue some more with Grandma, but she noticed that Grandma's face was indeed turning pale, seemingly not faking her pain. Reluctantly, she walked out of the hospital room.
Barbara's heart was in great pain. She endured it for a while, and when the intense pain subsided, Mr. Wilson poured her a glass of water. Unexpectedly, Barbara took it and angrily threw the contents of it at his face. "I don't have a need for a son like you. Get out of here!"
Mr. Wilson understood his mother's anger. He wiped the water off of his face and knelt down, sincerely saying, "Mom, I understand if you resent and hate me, but you don't understand the dire situation our family is in. You've already prepared your will in advance..."
He didn't know that the will was actually prepared by Barbara a long time ago. Yesterday, she had asked Helen to come and make some amendments, such as if, one day in the future, Abella had an accident and couldn't inherit the will, she would rather donate everything than leave a penny to Mrs. Wilson and them!
"Mom, please reconsider?" Mr. Wilson pleaded while kneeling down beside her. "Even if it's just some funds to help us out in this urgent situation."
Barbara never expected this beast to still dare to make such a request. She was so angry that she smashed the cup that was in her hand onto his head.
In an instant, even though the cup didn't break, Mr. Wilson's forehead was bleeding.
"Dad?" Isla covered her mouth in shock. She couldn't believe that Grandma could be so ruthless, even smashing her own son's head.
She hurriedly approached and used tissues to help stop the bleeding, her face faintly showing anger. "Grandma, how could you do this? Can't you talk things out calmly? Throwing things and hurting people. He's not only your son, but he's also my dad! How can you bring yourself to do this?"
"Isla, kneel down." Mr. Wilson said.
Isla's hand froze. "Dad?"
"Kneel down!" Mr. Wilson repeated.
Isla could only swallow her anger and obey.
Luckily she had worn a pair of long pants today, so she wouldn't hurt her delicate skin when kneeling.
"Mom, this is your own granddaughter. She has suffered so much and endured countless grievances outside since she was young. After finally returning to this family, don't you feel any pity for her? Don't you want to make it up to her?" Mr. Wilson pleaded.
Barbara glanced at Isla, how could she not care or make it up to her own granddaughter?
But this child has done so many bad things and carried bad intentions in her heart; those cunning eyes are always plotting something malicious, and she is always targeting Abella. That's why Barbara couldn't bring herself to like her. If this child could get along peacefully with Abella after coming back to this family, if she could be more sensible and well-behaved, then she too would have a share in the inheritance!
It was her pretentiousness and the Wilson couple's greed that made Barbara utterly determined not to leave them anything!
"Since childhood, it was Abella who accompanied me and fulfilled your filial duties. I stayed in the hospital for several months, and she took care of me day and night, buying expensive medicinal materials for me everywhere, doing everything she could to save me! She poured water for me, massaged me, washed me, shifted my position, changed my catheter... not one of you did any of these things!
How many times have you come to visit me? If it wasn't for your recent crisis at home, you wouldn't have even looked at me! It's fine if you don't come to visit, but you even tried every means possible to drive away all the elderly people in the company from me! If you had found an excuse to drive them away, it would have been forgivable, but the despicable and shameless tactics you used, I have never heard of such things!" she said.
“You call me 'Mom', but you don't treat me like a mother at all! I am simply an ATM machine in your eyes, and the only value I have is money! If I give this inheritance to you, my old age will truly be miserable! Don't mention the inheritance again, I'll give it to whoever I want."
As Barbara spoke, her face grew colder, her voice deepened, "Leave, there's no need for you to come again! If you disturb my recovery again, I'll have Abella transfer me to a place where you cannot find me!"
"Mom, please don't get angry now, and remember what I said." Mr. Wilson was still trying his best to persuade her, "If I had a large sum of money at my disposal and didn't have to worry about food and clothing, then I would unquestionably give it to whomever you want, no questions asked! But the problem now is that the company is facing an unprecedented crisis. "
