Chapter 512 There Were Still Wounds on the Back

Now, her life partner had ascended to the role of CEO at a logistics company, somewhat diminishing her own status.

"If people find out you're the adopted daughter of the Medici family..."

Maria didn't finish her sentence, but Lola suddenly lifted her gaze as if realizing something.

'If people discover that I am merely the adopted daughter of the Medici family, how many will still admire me? Who would be willing to invite me into their home?

'Even if Henry likes me and has no objections, what about his parents?'

'They adored Henry so much; how can they allow an adopted daughter to enter their home and become a laughingstock?'

'If I can't even cross the threshold of the Hall family, what other families would want me, a fake heiress with no matching status?'

Thinking of this, Lola clenched her fists in anger.

'It is all Abella's fault. If she hadn't returned to this family, everything would have been perfect, like a beautiful fairy tale.'

'It is Abella's arrival that shatters this happiness; let me transform from a beloved one among many to a counterfeit heiress whom no one cares for.'

Maria added, "By the way, Mrs. Medici should be retiring for the night. You can leverage tonight's situation to evoke sympathy from her, seek comfort, and propose going shopping with her tomorrow."

Lola had earlier felt remorseful about seeking reimbursement from Winston for shopping expenditures, sensing as though she was being deceitful.

In her fury, she felt that the Medici family owed her too much now!

Besides, they had more money than they could ever spend, so let them compensate her with it.

On the flip side, Winston tenderly wiped Nicole's face with a warm towel.

The face he had longed to see countless times was finally in front of him today, tangible.

Unlike the chilly touch in his dreams, Nicole felt warm and soft today.

She was real.

A sense of lost treasure found overwhelmed him, bringing both elation and a newfound resolve to cherish and value her.

Winston washed the towel once more, wrung it out, and delicately wiped other parts of her body.

Recognizing the girl's inclination for cleanliness, he meticulously and earnestly attended to every inch of her skin.

The doctor had informed him that her injuries were more severe than Abella's and would require careful attention in the following days.

On the other side.

Dr. Rhys wiped Abella's face and proceeded to clean her neck.

As she did so, she noticed a slight redness on Abella's shoulder.

Trusting her medical instincts, Dr. Rhys promptly turned Abella over onto her side, ensuring they were shielded from view by Winston and Nicole on the opposite side of the living room.

With a quick glance back to confirm Winston's distraction and the absence of other staff members, she discreetly lifted Abella's shirt to examine further.

With just one glance, she hurriedly covered her back up, her mood sinking to the extreme, unable to calm down.

A long red blood mark appeared on Abella's fair back.

The blood mark connected to her shoulder as if she had been struck by something long.

'Was it a wooden stick? An iron rod? Or a longboard?'

'No, none of these would leave such a severe mark.'

Abella's fair skin was slightly cracked, with blood seeping out.

Dr. Rhys's eyes welled up even more, remembering Abella carrying Nicole back. How much pain must Abella have endured at that time?

Her calf bore marks from a graze caused by a bullet. How did she manage to bring someone back step by step?

Perhaps hearing Dr. Rhys's faint sobs, Winston turned around and gently inquired, "What's the matter?"

Unable to contain it any longer, Dr. Rhys broke down in tears of anguish. "Ms. Medici... her back and abdomen are injured. Those monsters have no mercy, striking so harshly. They are simply inhumane!"

'Ms. Medici is incredibly beautiful; how could they bear to harm her? They are truly despicable."

'What has Ms. Medici gone through? I wish I could bear it for her, even if it cost my life,' Dr. Rhys thought.

"What did you say? Injuries on her back and abdomen? How did we overlook that before?" Winston abandoned the towel and hurried over, visibly worried.

Through her clothes, he hadn't known Abella was so severely injured.

How many more injuries had the doctor missed?

"I just noticed," Dr. Rhys said, her tone filled with guilt.

There had been many individuals present earlier—Sam, Tony, Ernest, and a group of subordinates. The male doctors, understandably, refrained from lifting Abella's clothes.

As a female doctor, she couldn't examine Abella's back in front of the crowd. Initially, they had mistaken the blood on Abella's back for Nicole's.

"Is it serious? Does she need to go to the hospital?" Winston asked, deeply worried.

Thinking of Abella carrying Nicole back, his heart ached terribly.

"Mr. Medici, please wait outside while I apply some medication to Ms. Medici," Dr. Rhys said, wiping her tears, her heart heavy with sorrow. "Ms. Medici must be in considerable pain, and it's my responsibility for not examining her thoroughly."

Everyone's attention had been on the "head" injury Abella mentioned, thinking that either Abella or Nicole had head injuries.

Now, it seemed that besides the head and face, other parts were also severely injured.

"Okay."

Winston reluctantly glanced at Abella. Her face was even paler than before, making him feel even worse.

In a hoarse voice, he instructed, "Call me if anything happens."

"Okay."

After Winston departed, Dr. Rhys disinfected and treated Abella's back.

'Fortunately, Mr. Medici has created a healing ointment that not only eases pain and speeds up wound healing but also prevents scarring.'

After applying the ointment, Dr. Rhys gently turned Abella over and saw bruises on her fair abdomen from punches. Tears welled up again.

'They had hit so hard.'

After completing the treatment, Dr. Rhys, still feeling indignant, messaged Sam.

Dr. Rhys: [Ms. Medici's back is split open! Her abdomen is bruised from punches! When you see those people, don't hold back. Beat them to death! The worse, the better!]

She even sent a furious emoji and, after some thought, felt it wasn't enough.

'Everyone is out there fighting for Ms. Medici's revenge, and I am left behind. That isn't right!'

'No, I have to go too!'

"Mr. Medici, I entrust Ms. Medici to your care. If anything occurs, please contact me promptly, and I will come as quickly as possible. In case of an emergency, there are other doctors in the lab who can provide assistance."

Dr. Rhys said, glancing at the girl on the sofa, "She won't wake up anytime soon."

"Where are you going?" Winston asked, worried.

"I have something to do."

After saying goodbye, Dr. Rhys requested directions. As she was about to leave, she noticed other staff members sneaking around and trailing her.
