Chapter 727 Quite Partial to Me

Lola hung her head low. "It's all on me. I'll do better, I promise."

"Lola, I've seen you grow up, and I know you've got a good heart," Bonnie said, looking at her. "I'm not here to lecture you, but now that Abella's back, I hope you two can get along. Be nicer when you talk to her; she's your sister, after all."

Lola nodded. "I will."

"There's one more thing I gotta call you out on."

Lola, who had just started to relax, tensed up again.

"I saw you dragging Grandpa for a walk and making the servants take pictures. You even made him run to make the photos look better, didn't you?"

Lola's face went pale. "Aunt Bonnie, let me explain. I know I messed up. I just wanted some nice pictures with Grandpa. I didn't think it through."

"Your grandpa just had surgery, and Abella barely saved him. If he had fallen because of your antics, it wouldn't just be on you; how would Caleb and I explain it to the family? He fell while he was with us," Bonnie said bluntly. "I get that kids your age love posting Stories, but you can't ignore Grandpa's health for that. It was freezing that day, and I could see him shivering from a distance."

Lola had noticed David shivering too, but she thought it was a rare chance and hoped he could tough it out, even though she was freezing herself.

"And you weren't taken to the birthday party last night because it was dangerous. You have no idea what Abella and I went through. It wasn't something you could handle."

Hearing this, Lola realized there was more to the party than she thought. But what exactly happened, and why did Bonnie think she couldn't handle it while Abella could?

"Abella's been through a lot and done a lot for this family. I'm not asking you to be best friends, but at least show some respect. If you can't even manage basic courtesy, why live under the same roof?"

Lola looked at Bonnie in shock.

"I won't say more. Abella's finally back, and like everyone else, I don't want her to be wronged again. Think about it."

With that, Bonnie turned and left. As she walked out, she bumped into Caleb.

Caleb had just finished applying medicine to David and found him asleep. Remembering Bonnie was waiting outside, he went out to talk to her.

But no one was outside, and he heard Bonnie talking to Lola in the next room.

He motioned for Bonnie to talk elsewhere, away from the previous room. Only then did Caleb softly ask, "What's going on?"

Bonnie briefly explained what had happened, and Caleb found it hard to believe. When did Lola become like this?

Was it really her who took David for a walk in 19-degree weather just for some pictures? Was it really her who pulled David down when she fell and told the servants to keep quiet, taking it upon herself to apply ointment to him? Was it really her who spoke disrespectfully to Abella and schemed behind her back?

Caleb suddenly felt like he didn't even know Lola anymore.

Was it because they hadn't hung out in forever, or was this who she really was?

"Let's keep an eye on her," Bonnie said. "We're just her uncle and aunt, so we can't interfere too much. But if Lola keeps acting up, it might be better for her to live on her own. She's eighteen now, an adult."

Caleb nodded, thinking that made sense.

Beckett and Kimberly had treated Lola like their own for eighteen years, and the love and effort they put in couldn't be summed up in a few words.

Later, they found out she was an orphan with no one to rely on. Given the Medici family's status, it wasn't like they could just kick her out.

The Medici family was loaded; supporting one more person wasn't a big deal.

So, it wasn't surprising they kept her around.

"As her uncle and aunt, we can only suggest things. The final call is up to her parents," Bonnie said, glancing at Abella in the garden.

It was snowing, and Abella was walking alone in the snow. Phillipe, seeing this from outside, handed his umbrella to the gatekeeper to give to her.

"Is that Phillipe?" Bonnie smiled knowingly. "He seems to care a lot about Abella."

The gatekeeper handed the umbrella to Abella. As she walked out the gate with it, Phillipe draped his coat over her, took the umbrella, and gave her a warm hug.

"Finally, I get to hold you," Phillipe said, looking her over.

His fiancée could be the busiest fiancée in the world; it was really hard to see her.

Abella smiled. "Didn't I come to find you as soon as I finished my work?"

Phillipe looked into her eyes with a smile. "I thought you weren't coming. You mentioned on the phone that your grandpa had an accident. What happened? Is it serious?"

Abella replied, "It's a long story about my grandpa."

"Let's talk in the car then."

There was heating in the car, so Abella wouldn't have to freeze.

After getting in the car, Abella briefly explained what had happened. Phillipe was at a loss for words. "Remember when Lola made soup for my grandpa, which worsened his condition, and you had to save him?"

Abella remembered. That time, Lola had bought the leftover materials from her medicine at a high price from an auction and eagerly made soup for Ryan, which worsened his condition and sent him back to the operating room.

"After all this time, she still hasn't grown up," Phillipe said as he drove. "You still have to clean up her mess."

"She always thinks I'm going to take everything from her." Abella felt helpless about this.

"Isn't everything she has yours? The family is yours, the life is yours, and her food, clothing, and shelter are all thanks to you. What does she have that's truly hers?"

"At least Henry is hers."

"Henry is someone she met because of her status as a Medici family heiress. If she were from an ordinary background, how could she have entered Henry's circle? So, it's still thanks to you."

Seeing how biased he was, Abella couldn't help but laugh. "You're really partial to me."

"Because you deserve it," Phillipe said, taking one hand off the wheel to hold her small hand.
