Chapter 27

"Dr. Smith is so young but has such a bad temper." Skylar couldn't help complaining soon after she got out. "Look at Remy. Born into a wealthy family and so well-mannered."

"Well, he's a genius doctor and has been praised since childhood, naturally he's arrogant," replied Jeff.

"Oh, right, Dr. Smith said someone had asked him to pay attention to Mom earlier. Do you think it's the Johnson family?" Skylar asked.

Remy's family knew a lot of influential people, plus Remy was engaged to Isla, and they could afford to help Vilma with her illness.

After thinking about it, Jeff said, "It must be the Johnson family. Right? We should invite them for dinner someday. But..."He suddenly felt helpless as they found no news about transferring hospitals yet and had to let Vilma keep staying here.

"Which way did that girl go just now?" asked Skylar.

Suddenly, Skylar seemed to have thought of something, asking, "The wards over there are quite expensive, right?"

Half of the wards on this floor were regular VIP ones while another half were top-tier ones.

Vilma could stay in a regular VIP ward because the Johnson family happened to know about her illness before; presumably, they helped find someone for her so she could stay in one.

But top-tier VIP wards were different. Not everyone could afford them even if they were rich.

Skylar wondered, 'How did that rotten girl manage to get in? She doesn't know any big shots!'

"Dad, Mom."

Just then, a gentle voice suddenly sounded out, "Isla! What brings you here?" Skylar turned around and saw Lola and Remy.

Remy was truly outstanding and handsome, making Skylar delighted at the thought of her daughter being able to marry him soon!

"Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Wilson," Remy politely greeted them.

Jeff nodded and smiled kindly, "Weren't you two supposed to be on a date? Why are you here?"

"We went to watch a movie, and Remy sent me home. But I heard that the hospital called us, and I was wondering if something happened to Grandma. When I saw Remy was still outside our house..."

They came together.

"Dad, Mom, how's Grandma?" Isla was very good at playing innocent in front of others. She actually hated her biased grandma very much, but she still acted as if she cared about her. "I think I just saw Abella downstairs earlier."

Isla felt that she saw Abella walk out from the VIP elevator just now, but she wasn't sure.

Hearing her mention Abella, Remy was somewhat surprised, wondering, 'I heard Abella had gone back to her own family. How could she appear here?'

Hearing Isla's words, Jeff and Skylar both looked unhappy.

"It's her... Forget about her. Your grandma is fine. We just need to renew the contract... Well, why don't you come in and check on her? Maybe your presence can let her wake up," Skylar said.

Remy and Isla glanced at each other, holding hands tightly as they walked into the ward.

Vilma looked emaciated and lifeless on the bed.

Isla choked back tears all of a sudden, sobbing, "It's only been two days. Oh, poor Grandma. You look so weak now."

When she said "two days", it was just an approximation. In fact, she hadn't visited Vilma for many days already.

"Why did God treat you like this? Just let me take all the pain instead! Please."

Seeing Isla cry, Remy quickly wiped away her tears. "Silly girl, you've suffered a lot these years."

"I'm not afraid. As long as God spares my grandma, I'm willing to bear everything for her!" she interrupted.

Seeing her being so kind-hearted, Remy felt touched deep inside him. He loved her even more now.

"If I didn't come back, then Abella would be the one to marry you. I ruined her happiness. That's why God brought punishment to my grandma, is it? If that's true, then I don't wanna be a rich young lady and marry you anymore." Isla sobbed.

"You are the Wilson family's child. This is your family. You're gonna marry me because of our engagement. You've done nothing wrong."

Remy tenderly wiped away Isla's tears while saying, "Abella has enjoyed good times over these past few years. It's time for you to take back your rightful place as the young lady of the Wilson family. She's not a Wilson, but you're. Even if she wanted to marry me, I wouldn't be willing! I only love you."

The city lights were on.

Phillipe's car rushed through the traffic and quickly headed towards Honey Park.

On the way, his phone kept vibrating. At first, after glancing at the caller ID, he pressed the button on the steering wheel and hung up directly.

But the person on the other end seemed persistent and called again and again.

"I'm fine. Just pull over, and I can go back myself," Abella said.

She thought her presence made it inconvenient for Phillipe to answer calls. But Phillipe explained indifferently, "It's a harassing call."

The phone vibrated again and again.

To let Abella stay in peace in the car, Phillipe put on one earphone and answered it.

"Phillipe! Oh, you finally picked up the call."

On the other end of the phone, Lola cried with tears streaming down her face.

She explained with a sob, "I really didn't know what happened to Sir Bourbon later. I didn't mean to harm him. I just heard that medicine could help in treating heart disease, so I carefully cooked soup with it and gave it to Sir Bourbon."

"I thought it would help him. I didn't know that it would worsen his condition."

"It's not my fault! They sold me fake medicine! They tricked me into buying them. I didn't know it. I really didn't know there was something wrong with that medicine. If I'd known, I definitely wouldn't have bought them!"

"Phillipe, you've got to believe me."

"You're like my brother, and Sir Bourbon is like my own grandpa. I would never harm him."

"Is that all?" Phillipe was impatient with her crying, and when she finished speaking, he ended the call.

Taking off his earphones, Phillipe focused on driving. Out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed Abella's expression and asked, "What?"

Abella explained, "She was crying, wasn't she? I heard it."

Although she didn't know what she was crying about, she sounded quite pitiful.

"She harmed my grandpa and came to plead for mercy," Phillipe explained softly.

"Oh..." Seeing Honey Park ahead, Abella quickly said, "Pull over here."

"It's dark outside. I'll take you to the garage," Phillipe suggested.

"No need."

Abella didn't want him to see her car or license plate number as they were too eye-catching!

"You sure?"

Phillipe saw that the park wasn't yet completed, and there weren't many lights there. Most of the places were pitch black; even the road leading to the garage was very dark.

'Isn't she afraid?' Phillipe couldn't help wondering.
