Chapter 893 Restore Surveillance

Terry slumped in his chair, staring into his coffee cup. "Man, the actress I like? Turns out she's got a boyfriend. Just found out," He said, downing his coffee like it was a shot of whiskey.

Sean raised an eyebrow. "No kidding? The race car driver I'm into? She's got a boyfriend too," He said, finishing his coffee in one gulp.

"So, we're both out of luck today, huh?"

They gave each other a sympathetic pat on the shoulder, trying to lift each other's spirits.

"Hey, it's not the end of the world. We'll find someone else," Sean said, though he knew deep down that the woman he liked was one of a kind. Now that she was taken, no one else could compare.

"Don't sweat it, man. You'll meet someone even better," Terry tried to reassure Sean, but he knew in his heart that no one could replace Abella.

Both of them sighed, feeling the weight of their disappointment. They clinked their coffee cups together and drank, trying to drown their sorrows.

After Phillipe brought Abella back to the hotel, he closed the door and immediately turned to her.

"I had no idea you won that car race," He said, his voice tinged with surprise.

Abella looked up at him with clear eyes. "Did Sean tell you?"

Was that why Phillipe had been acting so strangely outside the café earlier?

"If I hadn't asked, he wouldn't have said a word. Do you realize how dangerous underground racing is? It's not a regulated track, and there's no fair judging. It's all about trust, and some people can't be trusted. What if you ran into someone like that?"

"I'll be fine," Abella reassured him. "For them, racing is a hobby. For me, it's different."

"How is it different?" Phillipe asked, searching her eyes.

"I did it to survive."

If she hadn't been chased and forced to hone her driving skills, she wouldn't have been able to race for Saskia.

Phillipe's expression softened with concern. He couldn't help but kiss Abella's soft lips. He gently touched her face and said, "I wish I'd come into your life sooner."

If he had, he could have protected her from all the harm.

At least she wouldn't have had to stay in such a dangerous place for so long.

Thinking about the hardships she had endured made his heart ache.

"If it were really dangerous, Saskia wouldn't have let me go. She's my best friend," Abella reassured him. "If her foot wasn't injured and she didn't need to rest, I would have introduced you to her. Even though you saw her in the video last time."

Meeting a good friend face-to-face was different from seeing them in a video.

If she and Phillipe went to Saskia's house, it wouldn't be convenient since Saskia lived alone and had trouble walking. If they visited, Saskia would insist on hosting them, which wouldn't help her recovery.

"There'll be a chance," Phillipe said, touching her soft face. Just then, her phone rang.

It was Theo calling.

"You take the call. I'll get you something to eat." Phillipe had brought a lot of her favorite snacks with him to Britonia, all packed in his suitcase.

He gave her space and trust, not listening to the conversation.

Abella watched Phillipe's tall figure walk away, feeling a warmth spread inside her. She pulled out her phone and swiped the screen.

"Mr. Medici looks sharp, but his signature is a mess. I can't even read his name." Theo's voice crackled through the phone.

After leaving the hospital, Abella had handed Theo the island sale agreement Dennis had signed without even glancing at it.

She didn't care what his name was.

"What's up?" Abella asked, cutting to the chase.

"I've sent some folks to the island to clear out the weeds and stuff, but there are some plants we can't identify. Not sure if they're weeds or medicinal herbs. I took photos and sent them to your email."

"I'll check them out."

"Also, we've mapped out the planted and unplanted areas, including sunlight duration, soil composition, air humidity, and overall weather changes. It's all in a spreadsheet I sent you."

Abella was impressed by his efficiency. "Thanks."

"No problem. Working with you is motivating. I've also contacted Sam. He's ready to transport the medicinal herbs as soon as you give the go-ahead."

"I'll give him the specific time soon."

"One more thing," Theo continued. "As you suspected, the surveillance cameras near the auction site on the night Cruz died were damaged. I've sent the footage to your email."

"Got it. I'll handle it now."

After ending the call, Abella pulled out her laptop and said to Phillipe, "I need to take care of something. You can rest for a bit."

Phillipe placed some snacks in front of her and saw her fingers flying over the keyboard.

"Restoring surveillance footage? Let me handle it," Phillipe offered. "You should eat something and take a break."

Abella remembered how they had worked together to hack into Nicole's computer last time. Phillipe's hacking skills were top-notch.

She handed him the laptop.

Phillipe took the laptop and sat on the couch, restoring the data while occasionally massaging her feet. He kept his eyes on the screen, typing with one hand.

Abella lounged on the couch, her legs resting on his lap, munching on snacks. She handed him a piece.

Phillipe felt even more motivated and quickly restored the footage, waiting for her praise.

"That was fast."

"With you here, I have to do my best." Phillipe ate the snack she gave him, looking satisfied.

Abella sent the footage to Theo, who was so surprised that his face mask fell off. "That was quick. I was just about to put on a face mask, and now I haven't even finished."

"Why are you, a grown man, using a face mask?" Abella teased.

"Men need to take care of our skin too. I'll call you back." Theo continued his investigation into the mysterious black car and the person who shot Cruz.

Abella knew they would have results soon. She discussed with Phillipe, "I might need to go out tonight or tomorrow. I'll have my team with me, so it won't be dangerous. You can stay at the hotel."

"Can you trust your team?"

"They're very loyal."

"If you need help, let me know."

Phillipe had a hidden network in Britonia that almost no one knew about.

If necessary, he could quietly help her.
