Chapter 939 Scream
Abella looked at the table loaded with dishes. Since Dennis had put in so much effort, she tried a bit of everything.
But there was just too much food, and she couldn't finish it all. In the end, she talked it over with Phillipe, and he asked the manager to pack up the leftovers.
Dennis didn't expect Phillipe to be so thrifty, and he was even more surprised when Abella pulled out her card to pay. He was instantly furious. "What's up with Phillipe? He can't even pay for a meal? And he wants to take the leftovers?"
"That's... unbelievable," Louie was also shocked.
Ordering fewer dishes was one thing, but having the girl pay and then taking the leftovers.
"Fuck, I'm gonna beat him up..."
Dennis was about to get up when Louie stopped him. "Mr. Medici, if you rush out now, Ms. Medici will only feel embarrassed and awkward. After all, she paid the bill. I guess Ms. Medici isn't someone who lets others take advantage of her easily. Maybe she thinks this guy isn't right for her, so she paid to avoid owing Mr. Bourbon."
"I think he just sees Abella as sweet and easy to push around." Dennis was fuming. If Phillipe dared to treat Abella like this under his watch, who knew what he'd do when Dennis wasn't around!
Phillipe saw Abella pay the bill and took her hand as they left the restaurant.
The restaurant manager bowed and said, "We look forward to seeing you again, Mr. Bourbon and this lovely lady!"
Dennis's face darkened, and he thought there wouldn't be a next time.
No way was he going to let Abella and Phillipe stay together!
Phillipe pressed the elevator button and, once inside, said to Abella, "This card has no limit. I know your family gives you plenty of money, but from now on, just take this one with you."
He had given Abella this card a few weeks ago, but she hadn't used it. Earlier today, Phillipe had asked her why she wasn't using it.
Later, Abella said she would pay for today's meal. When she took out the card, Phillipe was overjoyed.
Abella finally agreed to use his money, and he was happier than anyone.
But to Dennis, it looked like Phillipe was just taking advantage of Abella.
Dennis was now boiling with rage, wanting to tear Phillipe apart.
"Let's go see a movie?" Phillipe, unaware of Dennis's growing hatred, drove Abella to the cinema.
Louie followed them in another car. "Mr. Medici, it looks like they're heading to the cinema."
"How can they still think about watching a movie?"
Dennis pulled out his phone, intending to text Abella.
Since getting Abella's WhatsApp, he hadn't had a proper conversation with her. Remembering how she said he was meddling in her life as soon as he got home, he hesitated but finally sent a message.
Dennis: [What are you up to?]
Abella, sitting in the passenger seat, saw Dennis's message. Glancing in the rearview mirror, she noticed a car following them from a distance.
Louie's tailing skills were too obvious.
Abella replied: [Going to the movies with Phillipe. What's up, Dennis?]
Dennis: [I am thinking of asking if you want to see a movie with me. How about ditching Phillipe and coming with me? The movie he picked is probably not that good.]
Abella was a bit surprised by Dennis's message.
Abella: [You don't seem like the type who enjoys movies.]
"Really? Do I not look like someone who enjoys movies?" Dennis asked Louie, who was driving.
Louie glanced in the rearview mirror and said seriously, "You look more like someone who enjoys action and fighting..."
Dennis kicked the back of his seat, annoyed, and carefully crafted a reply to Abella.
But before he could finish, Abella sent another message: [I already promised Phillipe. Maybe next time.]
Dennis's heart sank at her words!
He couldn't believe Abella would rather watch a movie with Phillipe than with him.
Then again, Phillipe might be stingy and disrespectful, but Dennis had once tried to kill her.
It was obvious who Abella would choose.
"Find out which theater they're going to and get us seats in the back, at the edge."
"Yes, Mr. Medici."
At the cinema, Phillipe bought some snacks and rented out the entire theater. He even instructed the staff to let in two men if they showed up, which the staff agreed to.
Phillipe held Abella's hand and led her to Theater 1.
For now, it was just the two of them.
Phillipe pulled Abella to the center seats and handed her a soda.
Louie sneaked in, crouching low, while Dennis walked in boldly. Louie quickly pulled him to the side seats.
Dennis sat down and immediately saw Phillipe and Abella sharing a drink, cursing under his breath. " Damn it."
So cheap that they had to share a drink.
Was Phillipe that poor in his past life? He couldn't even let a girl have her own drink?
"This Mr. Bourbon is really stingy, buying just one of everything. Some couples do share, but they're usually very close. This is their first date; he should at least get one for each."
The surprising part was that Abella didn't seem to mind.
The movie started soon.
Louie recognized it and felt uneasy. "Mr. Medici, this movie is a horror film..."
He had seen it trending online recently, with many people choosing to watch it at night. It was said to be so scary that people with heart conditions could die on the spot.
"Phillipe took Abella to see a horror movie? What's his plan?"
Was he hoping Abella would get scared and cling to him?
The opening credits were eerie, and suddenly, a bloodied, eyeless face appeared on the screen. Louie screamed in fright.
With only four people in the theater, Abella and Phillipe turned to look in their direction.
Dennis quickly pulled his hoodie over his face and pinched Louie's thigh hard.
Louie wanted to scream but held it in, burying his face in Dennis's shoulder.
To an outsider, they might look like a couple.
Abella and Phillipe exchanged amused glances, finding it funny that Louie was scared of such a movie.
"Why is no one else here?" Abella whispered to Phillipe.
Phillipe leaned in and whispered back, "I rented the whole theater."
Because Abella wanted to watch a horror movie, he didn't want others' screams to ruin her experience.
So he rented the whole place.
"Move over," Dennis pushed Louie away.
Louie didn't want to be this scared, but he couldn't help it. He had always been terrified of horror movies.
