Chapter 275 The Bidding
After a while, Isla finally noticed something unusual.
"Mom, look at what they're wearing."
All of them are dressed very formal, even Abella is wearing a light pink suit with her hair tied up in a bun, emanating a chic and cold aura.
And the three of them look like clowns.
"Did we wear the wrong clothes?" Isla suddenly felt uncomfortable in her evening dress. No wonder when they were at the entrance, people looked at them with confusion and annoyance.
Turns out, they wore the wrong clothes!
Mrs. Wilson also noticed this, a hint of embarrassment on her face. They had never attended a land auction before, so they didn't know what to wear today.
Mr. Wilson comforted, "If we got it wrong, then so be it. Later, people will only care about who got the land, not what you're wearing."
Phillipe and Abella sat side by side in the front row, their fingers tightly intertwined. Steven, sitting next to them, spoke in a cold tone, "Keep it professional."
"The air conditioning is too cold, I’m warming Abella's hands. I'll let go in a while." Phillipe said.
Upon hearing Phillipe's words, Steven glanced at Abella and asked softly, "Are you cold?"
"Mhmm." Abella could only nod in agreement.
Steven took off his coat and gently placed it over Abella's lap. "Wear this for now, I'll have the temperature adjusted."
"No need," Abella hadn't finished speaking when Steven had already communicated with the staff.
"You look beautiful with your hair tied up." Phillipe reached out to fix a strand of hair on Abella's forehead and admired her delicate features. Tenderly, he said, "You look good in a suit too."
"You look good today too," Abella looked into his eyes and softly said, "I'll give you this piece of land later."
"Give it to me?" Phillipe asked.
"Mhmm." Abella raised an eyebrow playfully, "Don't you want to build a Ferris wheel? And a commercial street?"
Phillipe hadn't expected the news to reach her already.
He had originally planned to give it to her once it was built, and he already had a name in mind.
But Abella didn't know that, she thought he was interested in the commercial value of the land.
"Well, someone else is helping me pay most of the price, but I'll get it in the end. I just have to wait a couple of days."
"My darling Abella, you always think of me when something good comes up." Phillipe leaned closer to her and whispered in her ear.
Just as Steven finished communicating with the staff, he noticed them huddled together, whispering softly again, and couldn't help but feel conflicted.
The people around them couldn't believe their eyes, witnessing Phillipe speaking so softly and intimately in a public setting for the first time.
As he and the girl spoke, the key point that many noticed was that the girl appeared to be around seventeen or eighteen years old, probably not even finished high school yet.
Who on earth is she to command such attention?
Can we receive an online tutorial from her?
Sitting at the back, Isla noticed that Phillipe would occasionally lower his head to talk to Abella. Isla was jealous of their considerate and warm gestures!
Why, oh why, does that man treat Abella so well!
It seems like there are endless conversations and endless moments between them.
They look like a couple deeply in love!
No wonder Abella wasn't interested in Remy before. It turns out she had a better option.
Before the auction even started, many group bidders stood up to get close to Phillipe, the Medici couple in the front row, and Steven.
Mrs. Wilson noticed Abella stood up and left, unsure of what she was doing. Soon after, Phillipe followed her footsteps.
Seeing Abella's seat empty, Mrs. Wilson quickly approached and sat in her seat, greeting Mrs. Medici on her left.
"Hello, Mrs. Medici, we meet again. Do you remember me? I am Skylar, Mr. Wilson's wife from the Wilson Group."
Mrs. Medici was talking to a few noble women but quickly noticed Skylar sitting in her precious daughter's seat, causing her some displeasure. "Who let you sit here?"
A slightly awkward smile appeared on Mrs. Wilson's face. Sensing the mocking gazes from the noble women, she smiled and explained, "I... I saw Abella going to the restroom, so..."
"Abella is someone you can address?" Mrs. Medici immediately signaled for the staff to come over.
"Mrs. Medici, let me explain..." Mrs. Wilson didn't have a chance to finish her sentence before the polite staff member spoke, "I'm sorry, but may I ask which group you represent? Could you please return to your own seat?"
"I..." Mrs. Wilson wanted to say that there are so many people here, why aren't you asking them to go back? Why only single her out?
But with so many pairs of eyes watching, she had no choice but to stand up and smile, "Mrs. Medici, let's talk later."
"What is there to talk about? Mrs. Medici doesn't even know you. Where do you find the audacity to approach her?"
"That's right, many people try to curry favor with Mrs. Medici, but you are the first one to be so clueless!"
"You better leave. How dare a nobody like you show up here, thinking you can just decide to talk to Mrs. Medici."
"Today, this piece of land certainly belongs to the Medici family!"
"Let's congratulate Mrs. Medici in advance..."
Mr. Medici gestured for the noble ladies to hold off on their congratulations. He had no interest in this piece of land and certainly would not bid on it, ruining his daughter's good fortune.
They had only come here today because after the event, their beloved daughter would join them for a dinner. However, others were unaware and assumed that the entire Medici family had come to show their interest and were destined to win this land. They believed there was immense commercial value in it.
Deep in her heart, Mrs. Wilson vowed to humiliate them in the future!
But then, out of the corner of her eye caught, she saw Mrs. Medici saying something to the staff, and not long after, they replaced Abella's chair with a new one! Mrs. Wilson became infuriated. She wasn't a virus, she was only sitting for a while, was that really necessary?
Abella had lived with them for eighteen years, and they had shared countless chairs together.
Mrs. Medici didn't know why she was biased against Abella and targeted her!
After a while, the auction began. The host briefly explained the land's purpose, size, and planning requirements before commencing the bidding.
The starting price was 3 billion US dollars, and with each bid, the price increased by 500 million.
"I now declare the auction open." the host announced, striking the gavel and officially starting the bidding.
Various groups immediately began to make offers. Initially, everyone rushed forward, but as the price soared to 8 billion US dollars, fewer people continued to bid.
Abella persisted, and both the Bourbon and Medici groups refused to fall behind.
Mr. Wilson wiped the sweat from his forehead, his hands trembling. With each raised bid, his heart struggled to bear the tension.
