Chapter 1086 Is This True
Henry was floored. He couldn't wrap his head around why Abella would do this, why she wanted him to see Lola's true nature.
"I caught someone. He confessed that Mrs. Hall was pushed down the stairs by him, and the car accident was also orchestrated by him." Abella paused, then continued, "It was Lola who ordered him to do it."
"What did you say?" Henry's phone almost slipped from his hand. He was stunned, like he'd been struck by lightning.
He'd always believed his mom had jumped to her death because he insisted on getting engaged to Lola. He never imagined that Lola had someone push her down the stairs.
And the car accident involving Melanie—he'd always thought it was just an accident. The road surveillance clearly showed the truck driver had dozed off, causing Melanie to be unable to avoid the collision.
But just now, Cecil had said the truck driver had been drugged, and the accident was planned.
Knowing Abella, she wouldn't lie to him. She must have solid evidence to say something like this.
But how could Lola do such a thing?
There was no deep-seated hatred between her and Whitney or Melanie. If there was any conflict, it was because their families didn't support their relationship. Could that really be enough for her to hold such a grudge and resort to murder?
"Not only that, but Lola also hired a hitman. She wanted to use Isla to kill me, but she didn't expect her subordinate to spill everything he knew," Abella said, then asked calmly, "Which floor is Mrs. Hall on?"
"The sixteenth floor..." Henry was still in shock, unable to process everything.
Soon, Abella arrived via the elevator.
"Abella..." Henry hadn't expected her to come so quickly. A complex mix of gratitude and guilt welled up inside him.
She could have ignored it all, but she didn't.
At that moment, the doctor issued another critical condition notice, and a nurse had to bring the form to Henry for his signature.
As she ran over, she suddenly spotted Abella and exclaimed with joy, "Ms. Medici?"
Henry actually managed to get her here?
With her around, it seemed the form wouldn't need to be signed after all.
"What's Mrs. Hall's condition now?" Abella followed the nurse towards the operating room.
The nurse explained everything she knew and led Abella to change into sterile clothing.
Watching Abella's back as she entered, both Henry and Cecil felt a weight lift off their shoulders.
As long as Abella was there, there was no one she couldn't save.
Meanwhile, Lola wheeled herself out of the VIP ward. After much thought, she decided to return to the estate.
Firstly, she didn't want to stay and give Henry a chance to plead with her.
Secondly, she feared Henry might secretly find the phone she had hidden at the estate and hand it over to Abella.
Henry looked at the woman he once loved, his emotions becoming increasingly complex.
Her gaze was cold, as if she feared he would cling to her. She maneuvered her wheelchair towards the elevator.
Henry blocked her path. "Where are you going?"
He still clung to a sliver of hope, hoping Lola wasn't as heartless and terrifying as he imagined.
But Lola, as if afraid of softening, replied coldly, "Just getting some fresh air."
"Rushing back to the estate to hide the phone?" Henry's voice dripped with sarcasm and disbelief.
Lola didn't have time to think. She just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible.
"I told you, I'll give you anything but that phone..." Lola turned her face away, refusing to look at him, appearing heartless.
Henry looked at the face he once loved deeply, suppressing his sorrow. "Even if it costs your life, you're willing?"
"Henry!" Lola found him unreasonable. "If Abella wants my life, would you hand me over? Is my life so worthless to you? Would you sacrifice me for your mother and sister?"
"You just said you'd give anything but the phone." Henry felt disappointed and heartbroken. It turned out she had been lying.
But he seemed unwilling to give up, still probing, "The doctor said my mom won't last two hours. Can you really bear to watch her die? Abella said she can save two people if you give her the phone."
Lola didn't know Abella was already in the operating room with Whitney. She impatiently shouted, "Henry, are you deaf? I said I can't give up the phone. Don't you understand?"
Cecil, standing nearby, added fuel to the fire, "If Henry hadn't saved you back then, you'd be dead! He's done so much for you, even at the cost of alienating everyone. What's wrong with giving him a phone?"
"What do you know?" Lola had long disliked Cecil. "If you're so capable, why don't you help?"
Seeing Lola insist on leaving, Henry finally laughed bitterly and sarcastically.
If Abella hadn't come...
Would he have had to sign that critical condition notice and watch his mother and sister die?
"I'll tell you this: if you were the one lying in there, Henry would trade his life for yours. Before he died, he'd make sure everything was arranged so you'd be taken care of, with money to spend, living a worry-free life!" Cecil's words didn't move Lola, nor did they awaken any conscience in her.
Lola had no patience left. She maneuvered her wheelchair to leave.
"Why did you have my mom pushed down the stairs?" Henry finally asked.
Everyone, including Lola, was stunned!
"Why did you orchestrate the car accident to harm Melanie?" Henry's eyes reddened.
Lola's mind was in turmoil, her expression uneasy.
"Was it just because they opposed our relationship that you wanted to kill them?" Henry suddenly lost control and questioned, "Are you still the Lola I knew?"
His voice was so loud that Lola looked up and saw his tear-filled eyes.
He seemed so disappointed in her, his emotions mirroring those of Beckett and Kimberly back then!
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Lola denied it vehemently, but she felt a bit guilty inside.
"Do you think I'd lie?" Henry's tears fell. He couldn't believe she was still denying it at this point.
"Do you have any evidence? You're accusing me just because I won't give up the phone? Do you think I'm that evil?"
"Did you do it or not?" Henry's eyes were red as he looked at her, his voice growing louder. "Did you have someone push my mom down the stairs and orchestrate the car accident? Just tell me, did you or didn't you?"
