Chapter 803 Was It You?
"Ah, who are you? What do you want?" Lola screamed in shock. She couldn't believe that within just a month, she had been beaten up twice after being thrown into a sack.
The people hitting her didn't speak; instead, they intensified their punches and kicks, raining down on her. Lola could feel that there were at least seven or eight people outside the sack.
"I am Lola Medici, the daughter of the Medici family. This is the entrance to Long Island Manor." Lola thought revealing her identity would scare them off, but instead, they hit her even harder.
Instinctively, Lola covered her head, but she was still kicked several times, the pain making her see stars and almost pass out.
"Who sent you? How much are they paying you? I can offer ten times, even twenty times more."
The seven or eight people intensified their assault, showing no mercy to the person on the ground, seemingly disdainful of her offer.
Lola could only curl up into a ball, covering her head.
Her shoulders were stomped on countless times, her limbs nearly broken, and her chest and back were kicked repeatedly. This feeling of helplessness and fear reminded her of the last time Bonnie had beaten her.
"Stop hitting me," Lola cried out in pain. "What do you want?"
The seven or eight people showed no signs of stopping; instead, they intensified their efforts, hitting her mercilessly.
"Please stop, I beg you," Lola couldn't help but plead. "As long as you stop, we can talk things over."
The seven or eight people didn't stop. They beat her up thoroughly and then threw something at her.
Lola was on the verge of passing out from the pain and vaguely felt something crawling on her. Some of them crawled up to her neck.
Lola was terrified. She tore off the sack over her head and saw countless snakes crawling all over her.
The sheer number was astonishing.
She screamed and tried to shake them off, but her wrist was bitten several times by the snakes.
Almost scared out of her wits, Lola frantically ran towards her home.
The people who had beaten her were gone, leaving only countless snakes hissing at her and following her steps.
"Help, help," Lola screamed in terror.
The security at Long Island Manor heard the commotion and immediately ran to help.
On the way home, Abella saw Phillipe press the answer button on the steering wheel and take a call.
The voice from the other end came through the car's speakers. "Mr. Bourbon, the job is done. We left her alive, but she took quite a beating."
"Got it."
Phillipe ended the call and heard Abella ask, "Did you have someone beat her up?"
There was no need to specify who "her" was; it was definitely Lola.
The only woman Phillipe despised so much at the moment was Lola.
Phillipe said indifferently, "If she doesn't get a lesson, she won't learn."
If it weren't for the fact that she was still Beckett and Kimberly's daughter, Phillipe would have made her life a living hell.
Abella smirked. She had planned to settle the score with Lola herself, to give her a good beating, but Phillipe had acted first.
That was fine too. Phillipe's men would definitely be harsher than she would, saving her the effort.
"This has nothing to do with you," Phillipe said as he dropped Abella off at the entrance of Long Island Manor and opened the car door for her. "They won't be able to trace it back."
His people always did things cleanly, leaving no loose ends.
"Go to bed early," Abella said, not blaming him. "Don't forget Blake's concert the day after tomorrow."
"I'll pick you up then."
"Okay."
Just as Abella finished speaking, a servant came running over. "Ms. Abella Medici, something terrible has happened. Ms. Lola Medici was beaten and bitten by snakes. The family doctor won't be here for another hour. What should we do? Mr. Medici and Mrs. Medici are not home, and everyone is at a loss."
"Take her to the hospital," Phillipe said, not wanting Abella to tend to Lola. "Abella has had a long day."
"Then we'll take Ms. Lola Medici to the hospital right away," The servant said, running back inside.
Abella looked at Phillipe with interest. "She got bitten by snakes too?"
"They're not poisonous."
If it weren't for she was still the daughter of the Medici family, he would have used venomous snakes tonight.
Abella smirked, her expression amused. "I'll head inside then."
"Yeah, get some rest," Phillipe said, patting Abella's head. "Don't worry about her. Even without a doctor, don't treat her."
She wouldn't die immediately anyway.
"Don't worry, I don't save just anyone."
Phillipe smiled, thinking this was his Abella.
When Lola was taken to the hospital, she was still crying. Her hair was disheveled, and her white dress was filthy. Although the servants had draped a coat over her, she was still shivering from the cold.
After all, it was winter, and it had started snowing outside. The wind blew through the windows, and Lola sat in the emergency room, looking as miserable as could be.
Henry rushed over upon hearing the news and immediately saw the tear-streaked Lola. Her face was bruised and swollen, and every part of her body not covered by clothing was covered in bruises. He had only been gone for less than an hour; how did this happen?
"Lola," Henry called out.
"It's all your fault! If you hadn't suddenly made me get out of the car, I wouldn't be like this," Lola cried hysterically. "Get out, I don't want to see you. Get out!"
"Miss, please don't move," The nurse said as she disinfected Lola's wounds. "We'll need to give you a tetanus shot soon. Which family member can pay for the medication?"
Just as the servant was about to step forward, Henry said, "I'll do it."
Lola cried, not even looking at him.
"Lola, wait for me. I'll pay the bill and be right back."
"You can also scan the QR code on the receipt," The nurse suggested.
"Okay." Henry glanced at Lola and quickly did as instructed.
Lola couldn't understand how her life had turned out this way. If it were Phillipe here, the nurses would be fawning over her. Forget about paying bills; even the hospital director would come personally to attend to her.
Henry was useless!
If Phillipe were here, not to mention his bodyguards, Phillipe alone could protect her and safely take her home. This would never have happened.
After Henry paid the bill, the nurse gave Lola the injection and handed them some medication to take home. "These are oral medications. If the pain is unbearable, you can use these to alleviate it. These are for external use, and the instructions are on the labels."
Henry anxiously asked, "She has so many injuries. Are they serious? Does she need to be hospitalized? Are any bones broken?"
"We took X-rays earlier. No bones are broken, but she'll be in pain for about ten days. There are quite a few areas with bleeding."
