Chapter 515 Couldn't Hold Back
Sam was a bit confused. This guy had been already reduced to ashes, and it still wasn't over?
"Come on, let's head to T3 Research Institute." Glancing at the raging fire, Phillipe turned around and left. The others quickly followed.
Sam was puzzled. T3 Research Institute? What did that have to do with anything?
Tony was also bewildered and looked at Gabriel.
Gabriel explained, "This fire hasn't even damaged one-tenth of the Umbra League's foundation. T3 Research Institute is just one of their small branches."
"You, you, you... You are kidding, right? Not even one-tenth? Isn't Umbra League just an unremarkable organization? And the mighty T3 Research Institute is just one of their branches?" This completely overturned Sam's worldview and beliefs.
Tony couldn't believe it either. "Is Umbra League really that powerful?"
It was clearly a tiny organization.
He even made a gesture with his fingers, indicating something so small it could be crushed like an ant.
Could the renowned T3 Research Institute actually take orders from them?
It seemed Umbra League was deeply hidden.
"Not just T3 Research Institute, but even Shadow Syndicate, Phantom Crew, Iron Blood Gang, and others... they're all branches," Gabriel added.
Sam and Tony were even more stunned. "Are... ... Are you sure?"
They had heard of these big gangs before, and their reputations were no less than T3 Research Institute.
"Under these small branches, there are even more branches. For example, the orphanage you investigated under T3 Research Institute is one of their branches."
Sam and Tony were completely dumbfounded.
Therefore, the Umbra League was more terrifying than they had imagined, and they only discovered it today.
"Also, those three leaders just now probably escaped to the T3 Research Institute. There's an underground passage between Umbra Castle and T3 Research Institute."
At this point, Sam and Tony were completely stunned, looking at each other in disbelief.
Meanwhile, after taking care of Abella, Winston turned his attention tor Nicole, who seemed to behaving a nightmare. Her forehead was slightly sweaty, and she looked a bit uneasy.
Winston brought a warm towel and gently wiped her forehead. Holding Nicole's hand, he softly said, "Don't be afraid; I'm right here with you."
Nicole wasn't sleeping soundly.
"You're very safe now," Winston leaned close to Nicole's ear and gently comforted. "You and Abella are both safely home."
He softly stroked Nicole's silky hair. At such a close distance, he could see every inch of Nicole's skin. Maybe he was afraid nightmares were tormenting her, or perhaps he was simply comforting to soothe her.
In the next moment, his lips gently touched Nicole's, giving her a tender kiss.
A softcough came from Abella's direction..
Winston turned around, his face instantly turning red. "Abella, you're awake?"
The girl lying on the couch curled her lips into a smile, unable to hold back her laughter. "Sorry, Winston, my throat was a bit dry; I couldn't help it."
She had woken up earlier and was about to call Winston, but the next second, she saw Winston kissing Nicole.
Was this something she should be seeing?
"I'll get you a glass of water." Winston quickly got up and poured a glass of water, placing it before Abella.
His face was still a bit red, like a child caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
Abella hadn't expected Winston to look so cute when embarrassed.
"I'll help you sit up slowly." Winston knew she still had a back injury, so he was very careful when helping her up. After she sat up, he handed her the glass of water.
After drinking the water, Abella noticed only the three of them in the living room. "Where is everyone else?"
"They went out."
"What about Phillipe?"
"He took your men to get revenge for you."
Abella raised an eyebrow, having anticipated his actions. She was about to pick up her phone, which was charging nearby, when Winston quickly said, "Let me do it. You still have injuries, don't move around."
When they came back earlier, her subordinates noticed her phone was dead and put it aside to charge.
"I'll send him a message." Abella took the phone and opened WhatsApp.
Winston was worried she might strain her wounds and quickly said, "Don't move; I'll do it."
"It's not the same coming from you."
True.
Phillipe would definitely prefer to see a message from her.
After sending the message, Abella heard Winston ask, "Feeling better now?"
"Who bandaged my wounds?"
"The wound on your calf was bandaged by Doctor Miller and your arm by Dr. Jackson. And..." Winston explained what he knew.
Abella raised an eyebrow. As expected, the two's medical skills were still lacking. Even after some time apart, they hadn't improved much, bandaging her up like this.
"Who exactly injured you like this?" Winston asked again.
He had seen Abella's skills. In Florida, so many bad guys weren't her match.
"A bunch of freaks," Abella recounted the events.
Winston suddenly remembered something mentioned in a data packet and said, "They're drug-enhanced humans."
Injected with various drugs from a young age, their bodily functions had long been altered, turning them into freaks.
"How did you manage to escape?" Winston asked worriedly.
Abella had had no chance upper hand initially.
No matter how she fought, she couldn't harm these freaks at all.
Later, while trying to save Nicole, they both fell to the ground. She saw a medical kit on the ground. It sparked an idea to use injection needles to assault their weak points.
Later, she accidentally discovered that these people had chips implanted in their brains.
The needles happened to destroy the chips.
"So, the organization controls their minds through the chips?" Winston was shocked and incredulous.
"Actually, implanting chips in humans is not a new concept. Over a decade ago, the elder who taught me medicine tried this method, but back then, he wanted to use the chip to quit drinking," Abella said.
Of course, he couldn't resist and started drinking again.
He thought life was too short to be so hard on himself.
Winston was speechless. He hadn't expected this technology to be so advanced over a decade ago.
"It just hasn't been widely used within the country."
In other countries, some companies and places had already started popularizing chip implants.
In Orisia, the number of people with chip implants surpassed ten thousand the year before last.
These chips bought great convenience to daily life, such as taking a train or entering a concert hall; you only needed a finger to complete identity verification.
These microchips were extremely minimal, and the implantation process was as simple as a vaccination, taking less than a minute without any pain.
"It's just unexpected that this technology would be misused by Umbra League." This was something Abella hadn't anticipated.
"Therefore, when you came back and mentioned 'head,' you were referring to their weak spot being in the head?" Winston suddenly realized.
"Yes." Abella had intended to say that the key point was at the top of the head, but she passed out before she could finish.
She also mentioned this to Phillipe in the message she sent earlier.
